Good Guys and JB-HiFi has this at $329.95 currently.

  • How do these compare to Sony MX4's?

    • I find them more comfortable. These are same stuff as QC45.

  • I got these recently and am pretty disappointed. They feel plasticky and cheap, have almost no basses, and can't turn off noise cancellation. They also don't work well if you want to pair them with more than two devices. I would expect more for this price.

    • +4

My experience with these are complete opposite, hence bought another pair.

      • What did you use before buying these?

        • QC25. I needed bluetooth to pair with my devices.

    • Couldn't turn off noise cancellation, reached out to Bose and they replaced it with a working one.

      • +3

It is a feature. They don't allow you to turn off noise cancellation. There is Aware Mode, but that's not the same thing.

    • +3

Was gonna pull the trigger at this price point but have noticed the cheap feel to them. Coming from Sony XM3’s where the quality is so much better.

    • Did you offer to give codes at some point? If so, maybe you could find your original post and delete it

        • +1

Report your own post and ask a mod to delete it?

        • It is removable, you just need to report it so I know where it is..?

            • @Jayblesz: That's from a year ago? I don't believe people will be privately messaging you because of that. I recommend turning off your private messages if you don't want to be disturbed by unsolicited PMs, you can do that by going here and then clicking "☑ Allow private messages".

For deals like this we will also instruct people to only request in the classifieds, as that's where codes are being passed around.

  • Can these be used for gaming?

    • I use it for gaming, do you have special requirements for gaming?

    • +1

Yes, not the best sound quality you can get at this price though, IEM's or open backs are generally better for gaming because of imaging and no bluetooth latency

    • +2

      Their FAQ says:

Can Bose QuietComfort® SE headphones be used for gaming?
No. In general, the audio/video delay will be excessive and most noticeable in games where action and audio are supposed to be synchronised.

      • Right thanks for the info.

  • I've been waiting on a deal for some new headphones but was leaning towards XM4 as I have tried them on and I like them, not sure now if I should get these or wait for XM4?

    • +1

      From my research…

The QuietComfort SE has slightly better ANC, and much more comfortable, but worse sound (out of the box), worse build quality, and missing features (e.g. auto-pause, no way to check the battery level after powering on).

However the QuietComfort has EQ settings in the app, so the sound can be quickly improved to your personal preference. So after adjustment, I don't have any issues with the sound from the QuietComfort SE.

As the XM4 is 50% more, the QuietComfort SE is a no brainer.

      • I was waiting for the refurb XM4 so that would bring the price much closer. I might try to see if I can try the QC SE on in a shop at the weekend and see if that helps my decision.

      • 'the QuietComfort has EQ settings in the app'

OK thanks - I had tried the Bose Music app before and not found any EQ settings for this model, but after digging around just now I eventually found them and was able to change my new SE to Bass Boost, and Treble Reduce to more closely match my QC35ii sound which I like

    It's also $245 at Amazon.com.au if you don't qualify for StudentBeans…
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Bose-QuietComfort-Headphones-Wirel…

Also the QuietComfort SE comes with a soft neoprene case, rather than a hard case. Otherwise it is identical to the QuietComfort 45 (it even shows as QuietComfort 45 in the app).

You can add a hard case for $39.95.

Or get a branded aftermarket one for $19.99.

This is not true, stop spreading misinformation. You can get plain 45's and 45 SE - the difference is the case. This is the QuietComfort SE which is the same as the QuietComfort but without the case.

      • +1

        Sorry, where am I wrong?

        • -8

They're not identical. I cancelled the 45 se order because they are poor outdoors, esp with wind. This pair are good in the wind. See the video I linked in my other comment. I hate it when people give bad info in these threads and no one checks them on it.

          • @magnitude: I got this pair, and they are reported as Bose QC45, and they have no wind mode. The model from your video are different headphones.

          • +2

@magnitude: The headphones themselves are 100% identical. There is zero difference.

The only two differences is the case they are packaged with and the outer box.

            • +3

@guidedlight: Bro’s literally arguing with the manufacturer at this point 💀

      • +1

Decided to call Bose directly, not sure how informed they are, but they also told me that the two re the same except the case even after i pointed out the links. They said SE only in triple black. and the other is in "premium colours". So take it as you will. As someone who tried both and can't tell the difference, im satisfied with my SE (then again, i\m not an audiophile)

        • listen fellas, if this pair doesn't do well in the wind, i'm returning it. but everyone knows the qc45 sucks in the wind and the QuietComfort (2023) improved on this part of the picture (plus better battery life). It turns out the QuietComfort (2023) model is something else (and not what we're talking about in this thread?) and probably not what I ended up ordering. So (profanity) Bose, i'm going to use their equipment for a couple of months guilt free and then return it soaking wet and get a pair of Sony when they go on sale. That's for wasting my time with this nonsense with their bad info/naming/branding. I was just trying to make a good informed decision and they have made it impossible…

          • +1

@magnitude: fair enough. I was super confused with Bose as well. JB Hifi reps had no idea when i asked them first and thought it was also ridiculous with the price difference over just the hard case. Didn't appreciate Bose's marketing confusion.
Like you said, at least it has a 90 day policy and if people thinks its good enough at that price point, then its good.

  • +1

They feel plasticky and cheap, similar to MX4.

have almost no basses, it is kind of different bass, movies and rock music is ok. but pop sound, mx4 is better.

if you don't mind to turn off noise cancellation, noise cancelling is actually better than mx4.

Bose is not good to pair with two devices, very annoying. Sony is way better. if you only connect to one device, it fine.

    • +3

It's not so much that the bose has no bass, they're very neutral. Some people like this, because it's the way the artist intends it to be

The sony on the other hand, is more bassy than neutral. So if you compare them side by side, the sony would be more bassy.

At the end of the day, it's personal preference

      • I've spent a lot of time playing with the EQ on the QC SE/45, I settled on:

        +1 Bass
        -1 Mid
        -8 Treble

I don't think it's quite accurate that the Bose has no bass, it's moreso that they are have very high natural treble. So they sound very bright out of the box.

Because of this, the natural instinct is to enhance the bass, but it's actually the treble that needs to be reduced.

Anyway, the sound profile is very configurable with the EQ. It shouldn't deter anyone from buying these.

        • agree that, treble is good, along with enhanced bass, that is why it feels good when watch movies.

    • Thanks, that's 2 people now reporting the same thing. Solid pass.

      • +1

This guy convinced me otherwise, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x1hmRfVwMI

        • Thanks, after looking at several reviews and reading through reddit, I decided to take a punt.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: Be aware, the guy from the video is reviewing a different model than this one. He actually bashed QC45 (this deal).

If you want the same model from the video you need to get https://www.bose.com.au/en_au/products/headphones/noise_canc…

            • @Mistredo: That hurts. I am going to use these for a couple of months and return them. I dont want a pair that can't handle wind etc. It was one of the main reasons i got this cos i live in a windy area and riding my bike makes it hard to listen to music/podcasts etc.

    • "Have almost no basses" is from comment above. forgot to put quotation. sorry
in some music and movies. the bass is good, feel like digital enhanced which MX4 doesn't do.
however, in some music, it feels quite flat, and mx4 sound a bit better.
it is comfy to ware Bose, MX4 is not by far.

  • +1

I love my QC35ii, they are the most comfortable I've found, they block out barking dogs and help me feel like a normal person.
Took a lot of effort but finally got them working flawlessly with Win10/11, pm me if curious.

  • Already out of stock

  • Paid $209.95 last time for some seasons. Still puzzling.

  • You can’t lose with Bose as they have 90 days satisfaction garuntee.
I returned 2 headphone including se45 as they didn’t meet my needs.
The se45 Bluetooth switching didn't work well and there was a consistent hissing sound. It seems to be hit and miss with Bose as most reviews seem to be positive.
Edit: they are very comfortable tbh

  • So the se (449) is the same as 45 (499) but with a soft case? And 45 is the same as quietcomfort (549) but diff color haha?

    • -6

No, 45 and 45 SE are the same except case. QuiteComfort and QuiteComfort SE are the same except case. How hard is that?

      • +5

        You're pretty thick, arent you

      • +3

Thanks for Bose's poor naming schemes, I had to do some research before purchasing QC SE. And there are no such product call (QC) 45 SE, it just QC SE.
The QC 45 and QC SE are exactly the same except the case. They don't even bother to add SE to their Bose Music App, mine QC SE showing as QC 45.
And the QC is like QC 45 II, it has an updated sound profile and some new features such as customisable noise cancelling level and wind block.

        • They didn't add it to the app, because there are no changes to the headphones. Their Owner's guide (page 13) for SE even says the box contains QC 45. https://assets.bose.com/content/dam/Bose_DAM/Web/consumer_el…

        • +1

          It’s an absolute f’ing piss-take.
There’s a QuietComfort, QuietComfort SE, QuietComfort 45 and QuietComfort Ultra. They should just change the name to QuiteConfusing.

    • QC is the same as QC45 but with updated software, its stupid since they could've just released the same software to QC45 as well.

QCSE will appear on the app as QC45 whereas QC will appear as QC45II

  • Is this any good for zoom or teams

  • Looks to be back in stock.

    • Showing OOS for me.

      • +1

Yeah. It keeps going in and out of stock on the Bose website tonight. Keep an eye on it just in case but you can always also purchase through Amazon at $245 (looks to still be in stock) as suggested by @GuideLight above.

  • +1

Why is the QC SE so much cheaper than the QC 45 (not SE) from last gen? I've seen so many deals close to $200 and for the 45's to get close to $200 was like basically never.

    • +1

QC45 had many bad reviews for wind noise and maybe mike call quality - so they may be dumping them to free the space for the 'new' un-numbered 'QuietComfort'

  • OOS😞

  • Looks to be back in stock.

    • OOS 😂
Who’s next to say it’s back in stock?

      • +1

        Temporarily out of stock

  • I received mine yesterday, they are considerably quieter than my Sony XM5's has anyone else noticed they seem quieter than other headphones ?
