Same here, was Diamond, then lost it because of Covid. Stayed in a Hilton earlier this year and got dicked about. so screw 'em.
then theres the accor group, most average apart from Sydney Sofitel
Any suggestions for alternatives? I'm platinum Accor for all my work travel, and wondering why I bother.
@tromboc: I’m platinum with Accor largely through regional work travel. You can status challenge to Hilton Diamond, I enjoy their free worldwide breakfasts and larger lounge footprint
@6079 Smith: Tried a recent status match with Hilton Honors from Diamond Wyndham which they denied stating they only match to Gold.
Anyone had more success lately?
I have Accor Gold and get upgraded nearly every time, get the free drink each time, they usually put a box of choccies on the bed as a welcome gift , it’s been nice. Compare that to Hilton Gold, I never once got upgraded, and the free breakfast was always garbage and I was forced to pay tips for it anyway.
@Capitalshark: Accor and IHG is way more useful, i was upgraded to $1.4k/night suite strings intercontinental tokyo. Late checkout is also a huge bonus with my family. I dont miss travelling for work but the perks and points were amazing.

says existing members can log in to get silver, i didn't get silver, its still shows me at member tier and not silver tier.

the T&Cs for my one said you need to stay 1 eligible night before getting silver
I can't remember my Hilton honors membership number or password so struggling to even sign in.
I had diamond now its downgraded to silver since i haven't used for a couple of years. i thought points expire if you have no activity over 24 months which i haven't but i got email in Dec saying mine are expiring on dec 6 2024. how can one be sure if this is the case? what's the best way to use 13000 points? if i transfer to VA i only get 1500 for 10lk. should i top it up by transferring amex points in to increase point balance to stay 1 night at Hilton hotel but not sure on point rate ratio and if its worth it? Hilton use to be good before covid. then they decided to wipe all my points for not staying there in two years when no one could travel. I was a corporate traveller but gone to the pack now.
