Finally something useful from Bit Dejours freebee of the day..

Password Depot
Effectively Manage All of Your Passwords
Remember when you could count the number of passwords you had on one hand? Those days are long gone, and today we're faced with the challenge of safeguarding passwords for shopping sites, credit cards, banks, and social networks, not to mention local files that include sensitive documents and the like. It's so tempting to commit the Number One Sin, which is to write them all down, but without doing that, how can we keep up? With today's discount software promotion, Password Depot, of course!

Password Depot protects your passwords from unauthorized access, helping you to manage all of your passwords using a powerful and intuitive interface. With Password Depot, you'll enjoy two levels of protection - once from an internal key, and again by a master password that grants you access to the program. Best of all, all password fields are protected from keyloggers, those evil programs that lie in wait, monitoring and recording your keystrokes. Same holds true for clipboard viewing programs.

If you've ever wracked your brain trying to come up with strong passwords that meet the increasingly complex requirements of some sites, you'll love Password Depot. Just use the integrated password generator to create strong passwords, and Password Depot will remember it for you so you don't have to! Plus, your password file can be easily backed up on an external drive or FTP server, ensuring that you'll never lose access to your sites, even if your computer gets corrupted.

There's also Android, iOs and Windows Phone clients as well..

  • How does this compare to Last Pass which I am currently using ?

And also, do you have to install/register the software on the same day as its on special ?

    • According to the email I just got, "You can install/register the software at any time."

    • I personally use Last Pass, but haven't looked at this yet so am unsure of how it compares.. I like the idea of a android/ios client tho so will give this a thorough lookover..

Giveawayoftheday is nothing more than an extended trial, infact, the software that they give away on that site is more or less useless.. It's usually a few versions old, and once you install it, that's it.. you can't reinstall/format etc.. At least with bitdujour you get a full licence, with key and it's the current version with no install/reinstall limitations..

    • I saw this freebie, then read the same in the first comment of the product so didn't bother posting this

Keepass on dropbox is the best way to go for me. At zero cost.

    • especially when, every now and then, dropbox allows anyone to access your account

      • +1

        That's why encryption exists.

    • Have to agree,
I been using Keepass for a few months now, and love it.
Free and open source and a good forum, hard to beat.

I just set all my passwords to "password", it's easy to remember so I don't need all this extra software… saves me time and money…

Here's a few other good ones.

  • Lastpass

    • Lastpass has free android and iOS clients?

      • I use Lastpass extensions in my internet clients and use the Lastpass mobile website on my Android phone. The Password Deport Andoid app reviews seem underwhelming. I don't really need an app so wouldn't pay for Lastpass on google play.

  • How does this compare to "Norton Identity Safe" which is still free?

It doesn't have Norton in the title. Thus, this is a million times better by default.

      • LOL!

  • keepass : http://keepass.info/download.html

there are people who wrote for the smartphone versions too.

  • Roboform is the best in this class.

  • I've been using KeePass portable version on my USB.
Free, open source and realiable - recommended.

All passwords/data are saved in a separate (encrypted) file.
It's a good idea to backup this file after every password addition in case you loose the USB.
The files on the lost USB are encrypted, and a backed up file will get you going again.
