Should be illegal to advertise a 300 nit panel as HDR

  • How does this compare to this deal for the Lenovo 34" UltraWide?

    • The Lenovo is 350 nits and better contrast but the Acer has better colours from the info I could find. Acer has higher refresh rate and supports HDR if you care about that, I couldn't see if the Lenovo does.

      • HDR on a 300 nit panel isn’t going to get you anywhere. Plus, I’ve used the Lenovo and it overclocks to 165Hz very easily, so it’s able to match the Acer’s refresh rate. Lenovo is a better monitor overall.

Va panels are much better for picture quality. If you game at all at night, this is what you want. Ips panels are like rubbish in the tv world. The benefit of va is seen on monitors as well

  • Just wondering for those wanting IPS, no way it's been below mid 400s - unless I need to hand in my ozb licence :(

Unfortunate this one didn't have much stock but it's good to note a random 34 inch model will appear around this price from time to time so best to keep an eye out often if you're in the market.

    • yeah it's the common price now

Lucky i just bought one from Clayton store earlier this week for work. A great monitor overall.

    • Same. Picked this up last week after my Xiaomi 34" decided to fry it's tcom chip and I cbf working out what a "tcom chip" does or how to fix it.

  • Can confirm this is a brilliant monitor for the price. With a bit of dicking around to make g-sync work, it's made some games feel like I updated my GPU. Motion looks amazing with the refresh rate.

  • hows the black smearing?

    • https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/17u7j49/moni… according to this thread they don't experience much if any ghosting at all, seems to be a newer panel hopefully the bad samsung odyssey VA panel smearing has gone for good

      • What an absolute bargain then.

        • Yeah I probably would have bought this if the delivery didn't kill it for me, I think last stock online was in Bendigo. The brightness and colours could be a little better, at this price can't ask for everything. I've used a few newer VA monitors now and the ghosting really isn't that apparent even when you're trying to see it in a game like Starfield, it's there but definitely not as bad as videos of other monitors I've seen. Viewing angles are usually still an issue though but it's only an issue if people watch you play often.

          • @lookingforadeal7: OKay awesome, I had a 49 inch VA AOC model about a year so ago and I took it back after 24 hours….the ghosting was next level bad, kind of turned me of VA panels, so good to hear this is a non issue.

            • @Flognuts: Yeah I've seen some 49 inch models aren't the best for smearing I usually try to check reddit or YouTube reviews before buying. I got a MSI optix monitor marketed on eBay as IPS and turned out to be VA but didn't realise until seeing it online. The smearing was negligible to me so genuinely thought I had an IPS monitor.
