  • good price :) I think even scotty has one of these?

  • not a bad price but I personally prefer the galaxy s3! The Nexus handset price keeps jumping up and down kogan had it for a few weeks back at $329 + delivery (silver) then bumped up to $339+ delivery yet our Aussie dollar did not change what is the reason for the price changes and shifts in an older released unit?

    • what is the reason for the price changes

Supply and demand. Obviously if the phones are flying out the door, they might as well raise the prices and get more profit.

But I agree if you want a bargain price you're going to have to wait, but the price is still fairly competitive at $330.

the s3 might be slightly better with the hardware advantage but with the nexus and the latest JB update u cant beat as the s3 not getting a jb update not until next year also for that price as i mentioned in the thread the phone color is white so they normally 10-30 dollars extra but this the cheapest i have seen =]

JB for S3 is rolling out… not sure when Australian carriers will push it out but keen users can get it themselves.

  • the only thing about that jellybean update for the s3 is that adobe flash is removed if you upgrade. I know html5 is better but most websites have not changed yet. I read here http://www.christianpost.com/news/android-4-1-jellybean-will… but users in Sweden have said it has removed flash.

See I hate when they do this. "The best phone on the market" but remove FLASH.

I'm pretty sure they even removed the app from the store now aswell.

      • They (Samsung) haven't removed flash… Adobe has.

And they won't be making it available for new any new Android products either.

I bought a Galaxy Nexus a couple of months ago for $380 delivered. I think this phone is plateaued at it's lowest price.

That said, Unique have the black for $349 shipped and if you can get Starthere moneyback that brings it down to $338.53. White is $359 or $349.23.

    SS - $347 ($342 SH)
    eglobal - $341
topbuy - $333.20 ($10 off for subscribing to newsletter) ($320 with Buckscoop)

    • I'm not convinced that the price has reached rock bottom. Invites have been sent out to the media for an Android Event on October 29th and the rumours suggest new Nexus model(s) could be announced. If that happens then the Galaxy Nexus won't be the top of the line. The Nexus line always attracts a premium because updates are quick.

I'm waiting 10 days to see what is announced. Personally I'm hoping for a Nexus with 4G. If Google announce a new phone, I would expect the Galaxy Nexus price to fall further to get rid of old stock.

After spending quite some time looking at phones, I decided the Nexus ticked enough of the boxes to get one too, only had it a bit over a week and it's great. As much as I would have liked one of the latest and greatest, I just couldn't justify spending that much.

The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the lack of a microsd port, but that seems to be a common thing with google branded products for whatever reason. 16GB should be plenty so long as I don't go berserk installing mountains of crap I don't need.

I bought mine 2nd hand, made sure everything was right with it before purchase, was quite cautious and it worked out well. I've installed AOKP on it, absolutely silky smooth to use, quite impressed with both the phone and the custom ROM so far.

It's my first "smart" phone, I've had a Nokia 6300 for years so this was quite the step up from that.

      • nice info +1

Moots don't know why adobe did not stick with flash for a few more versions of android until the swap over occurs from flash to html5. The best thing about android is flash and differentiated it from Apple now they are just the same when web browsing. But you can get dolphin webbrowser to run flash

The reason why Adobe abandoned flash for Android was because of all the vulnerabilities they have to patch.

See how often Flash gets updated for Windows? Having to roll out updates for Android as well is a drain on their resources. Second not everyone keeps their devices updated with the latest version, so the majority of phones have security loopholes due to having an outdated app on their phone.
The third — sadly Flash causes lower spec devices to crash because of it's high CPU usage utilisation.

Abandoning flash I guess, is their way of hitting 2 birds with one stone — cut costs and reduce vulnerabilities.

  • You can still install and use flash just by downloading the APK. Works just as it did in ICS on my 4.1.2 GNEX.

    • "NB Adobe Flash Player is not officially supported and therefore the speed of loading of Flash objects in HTML pages is not guaranteed at the highest levels. However, as tested, Flash Player behaves well with satisfactory results"

    • Thanks for this….I just enjoyed flash for the first time (iview) on my new work phone Xperia P, upgraded and then lost it in the space of five minutes :( ….And then went to myself, 'duh -stupid ICS flash removal'…. I will give this a go to see if I can get it back.

  • Just noticed if you sign up for the newsletter, you get a code for $5 off.

  • Is this Aussie stock? Will I get a tax invoice?

  • Not a fan of the white but the price is ok.

I still hope they drop under 300 delivered so I can get a black one but that might be wishful thinking.

    • I'm not a rep.. I accidently checked the box. I tried to edit and uncheck it but it keeps the rep icon on the post.

  • I'm not trying to troll but IMO you'd be crazy to buy a SGN for $345 when you can get a Sony Xperia S for $351.
