Been using my Galaxy Watch 5 LTE for a month now. Pretty decent watch but battery lasted only 1.5 days usually.

    • people raving about the wg5 PRO as having a very long battery life.
      not sure true or not

      • It's not "very long", but it's better. I have been getting a day comfortably most days out of my LTE version. Every now and then I get caught out because a rogue app runs in the background when it's not supposed to, but when everything behaves properly it's fine.

Charging is fairly quick, I've just been putting it on charge when I jump in the shower and it's good to go by the time I'm dry and dressed.

      • The pro lasts more than four days if not using always on display.

      • I have the 5pro LTE as well. Upgraded from a 3. Huge improvement in battery life. Definitely get more than a day. Which is the minimum you need for a smart watch imo.

      • I have a 5 44mm non pro. If I start my day Monday at 8am off charger, it will make it to Wednesday night about 10pm. It's LTE, Bluetooth, WiFi, lte on. Most sensors on.

AOD is the main thing I have off as I don't need it. I have sleep tracking on. Blood oxygen on while sleeping.

No idea how you have the pro and get 1.5days.

    • +3

i have 5pro (non-LTE), if i turn on all the measurements then it will last 2.5 days with always display on (it will turn off automatically while you sleep). if only turn on the steps count then can last 4 days easily. please note i wear the watch 22-23hr/day. hope this help with your battery expectation.

      • +1

That is super amazing oh well I have gw6

        • what model gw6 and how long is your battery last?

also how much paid or what was the deal?

      • Me too. I have heart rate on all day too (LTE model)

    • +4

that's right. I get 1.25 days with LTE, always on.
2 days with LTE (always in doesn't matter)

but warranty, I'll up date this later, but bloody appalling. 11mths old (from Amazon AU), died. logged a job online, produced warranty (Amazon), first born, etc, took 20mins, which allowed me to book an appointment to the Samsung shop, then another 30mins redoing it all (as nothing you put online is actually visible to the Samsung store). sent it away, I missed a call, no number to call back, but an SMS saying to contact them…then two days later another missed call and a sms that I needed proof of purchase again (so I replied texted a copy, 3rd time produced), then get another txt 2 days later saying Amazon Tax Invoice isn't good enough. i need to provide proof of purchase.

finally got a follow up phone call after several days…they don't understand that a tax invoice is proof of purchase, apparently because it doesn't say that I actually paid for it ("you need to show that you don't owe anything for the device", err Amazon won't send it out unless I've paid for it.

and finally they said they can only offer a refund anyway as they don't have any in stock…but I still need that proof if purchase.

      WTF?

      • Credit card statement showing funds were debited from your account on the same date as Amazon tax invoice.

        • +1

yeah they want something from Amazon. bizarre. but I shouldn't have to produce anything other then a tax invoice, once.

when I logged in, they knew all about my watch (make, model, serial, etc).

it's got a 2yr wty, so they'll know from the serial # that it's less then 24mths since manufacturing.

I reckon that they know they can't replace it and don't want to (or it's really hard to) refund.

Anyway it's just a single person's current experience with this watch & Samsung wty.

          • @M00Cow: I had quite a different experience. I had a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 that failed 2 months after warranty. I dropped it off for repair at their store in Parramatta, and they replaced it with Galaxy Watch 4 I believe, which was the latest one available back then.

        • funny their next demand was proof of delivery to apparently show that not only did I order it, and pay for it and that the address on the tax invoice is the same one I still live (& on my licence), isn't enough, I need to prove I actually received the watch that they now have which isn't fixable.

I've emailed a pdf of the email from Amazon saying it had been delivered, but now despite saying that was the last thing required , they've now decided they still want a "tax invoice" which has been provided 4 times and also proof that I actually paid for it (which is a tad hard as I
used giftcards (like I do for everything I purchase off Amazon).

      • Why would Amazon's tax invoice not work? That's weird, it has everything you need as proof of purchase under ACCC's definition. An order confirmation doesn't work cause it doesn't have ABN, but the tax invoice should.

        • +1

Exactly! But we all know arguing with a Philippine call centre is akin to head butting a wall. Their interpretation of their script is gospel & can not be reasoned with.

Funny I was about to jump on a Samsung S23fe deal (I even have an old newsletter $50 discount & a $100 loyalty discount) but I really don't want to deal with this crap if my phone has issues.

      • +2

This is triggering on so many levels for me! I had the exact same experience so it is obviously Samsung's standard operating practice to make life difficult.

I purchased this watch and it died after about 5 months. Took it back to Officeworks (who were great to deal with), and they shipped it to Samsung repairer. After giving me the similar runaround about the tax invoice from officeworks not being good enough (like WTF?), they then said they would refund only.

Despite many emails they wouldn't budge and told me it wasnt in stock which was a lie as it was in stock everywhere. I sent them ACCC info saying it was my choice whether to repair or replace and i wanted it replaced.

They eventually ghosted and closed my case so i had no watch and no refund!! I had to go back and beg officeworks to ring them as they kept playing games. To this day I have not had a resolution and it has been about 4 months since I returned my watch originally.

I will now never buy another Samsung product again due to the lies and warranty treatment.

        • poor bugga. I'll just get them to send it back and ask Amazon for a refund.

you can probably do the same with OW, as it's meet the definition of a major fault.

          • +2

@M00Cow: Just really surprised that such a large company have been so difficult to deal with. I was telling a workmate about it the other day and he said he had an issue with a garmin and rang them and they sent him a new one without even seeing it lol. I moved my phone from apple to samsung this year as well. Going back to Apple again as a result of all of this! Can only vote with your feet I spose…

          • @M00Cow: Amazon is even more painful to deal with. If it's past a certain period, they will not budge when it comes to refund. They throw their hands up when it comes to repair and just direct you to the manufacturer. But you can still try and contact them first before asking for it to be sent back.

Otherwise, I'll probably ring ACCC. It's like 2k just for an investigation, so most large companies tries to avoid any form of mass report of these kind of stuff.

            • @Wonderfool: accc won't investigate single cases, they just send you to your state consumer affairs.

Amazon are often more responsive to a offer of refund as account credit. They also respond better if you say you'd like to give negative feedback to their team leader because they're making you unhappy…

        • If you bought it from Officeworks, they need to provide you the replacement, not Samsung. That's what the consumer law says based in my understanding.

What Officeworks needs to do afterwards to claim money back from Samsung is not your problem because you only need to deal with Officeworks. Go talk to Officeworks customer service online and mention that.

    • I have a 5 pro LTE and i get more than 1.5 days, generally 2-2.5 (3 at most).

    • it's interesting, I have watch 5 pro LTE and battery life has been stellar. if I want it to last real long, I put it in low power mode (no AOD, no raise to turn on, but still does all notifications and smart stuff), and it lasts.. well I was never able to measure as it's longer than I need it to. for example, I fully charged it on Tuesday morning, and went on a trip. today's Friday and it's still showing 44 pct battery left

  • I just bought a 6 Classic, but I think I prefer this.

    • +1

      Nah classic is the shit

  • Does 45mm feel huge?

    • +4

      She said no

      • Looks huge but feel small

    • +1

yeah but the title says Samsung Galaxy Watch5 LTE Pro (45nmm)

      so 45 Nano MM ?

      thats TINY!

  • I have the 5 pro ,it lasts 4 days with display always on 16+ hours a day.
I chose not to have the LTE version as battery life not as great. Friend has the LTE which means he gets 2-2.5days and doesn't have his display always on.
It's a great watch and that price is excellent.
Had a lte a while ago and I rarely made calls on it.
The 5pro without LTE is good enough. Have answered calls twice in last week from watch, once about 6metres away and another call when I was next door .

    PB with OW

    • It's Amazon US, not sure if you can do that

      • -1

There is always one Sam who helps over the phone by being dumb

      • No you can’t

  • This looks like the non-LTE version? Sure it's LTE? Been looking for one inthe grey titanium colorway for a few days now. Model number also seems wrong - SM-R820NZTALTA (Samsung Watch Active2).

    Please change description. BT version.

  • Anyone know why I always got a delay on notification between my phone and my watch? Really annoying

    • Because your phone sends the notification to your watch. WHat sort of delay are we talking about?

      • With my old watch i got both notification on phone and watch at the same time.but notn anymore with my new watch 5

  • Could be wrong but I don't think the LTE version will work here AUS as in the cellular function , essentially making it the Bluetooth version where it would connect to the phone to make calls, may want to check before purchasing

  • Maybe it's a wrong title in Amazon US, which usually happens. The model number and the picture/title does not match. I would not to risk buying one although it's easy to return on Amazon.

  • Anyone know if this version will work with Samsung Pay here in Aus?

    • Yes if it's the US version.

  • Wish this cheap price was also for the Black one. Don't need LTE and would love to replace my S3 Frontier

  • It is the Latin American version which has some region locks. Mainly to do with Samsung Health and Pay.

  • -1

    Waiting on the pro deal

  • If you don't use LTE, will it be the same battery life as the standard BT one?
Or is there still some kind of persistent battery drain regardless on that model?

    • +1

Should be, I've got the lte one that came with my s23 ultra as a promo. I've turned lte off and it lasts around 5 to 6 days. Of course I've turned off many other features like wifi, health monitors etc.
But in a nutshell yes, turning off lte should save you same juice you otherwise would've saved with BT version.

  • Is this a good watch to track swimming? The apple watch is the best in most lists I've seen online, and I'm trying to find a nice alternative for Android.

    • I used it for my daily pool swimming. so far so good. (I used iwatch 3 previously)

  • FYI this ebay seller has Refirb ones for $259 with 12month warrenty. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/186046317351?hash=item2b51398327…

I got a new one from them last month for a similar price, but it seems only refurb now. Still not a bad price I think with the warranty.

    • Different version. That is the non pro

  • For individuals who own LTE smartwatches, what is the most affordable method to incorporate a SIM?

I'm currently subscribing to the $35 plan from Woolworth Mobile, however, they don't offer a specific plan for smartwatches.

  • got my GW5P with LTE for this price from Samsung AU eBay. just watch, no strap. there was only one. wait till it gets restocked

  • Is there a setting to have the AOD turn off if you're not wearing it? I'm not the type to wear a watch at home so it seems redundant to have the screen on when it's just sitting on my dresser. I currently have a Fitbit Versa 3 and there's no way to do this.

  • -1

Easy to get this during Samsung promotion period. Eg you can stack different codes. I will buy one on Unpack Event with one generic code($200off), email subscription($50), one unique code (20% off) and APP purchase 5% off and if i can find more. In case, someone may disagree with generic code which needs to be applied in the transction with S24ultra. I will pre order S24 ultra with the watch and then cancel or return to get money back.

    • Can you cancel one part of an order or will you have to cancel the whole thing?

      • -1

Even for bundle offer last time, I remember some people did that. For the new release, The watch is more likely to be shipped first and then Mobile phone. You just need to contact the agent to cancell your preorder mobile phone and keep the watch.

  • How does Samsung pay go if this is importrd

  • +1

Don't trust another samsung smart watch after my last one failed miserably with nothing other than normal day to day wear. Never swam with it and only used it while cycling a few times then just after 2 year mark, the whole screen just fell off. It looked like the glue holding the screen in place failed. The watch still worked but unwearable unless i attempt to glue it back on

    • That happened to me recently on my 4 year old Samsung galaxy active! I just thought it had reached its time lol

    • I generally like Samsung products so even though my Active 2 stopped charging after 3 years and had a glitchy screen for 2 of those years I still want to get another Samsung watch. LOL! :'(

      • I have one of their phones, a watch 4 classic and a atmos soundbar, but the terrible stories of their customer service really put me off going any heavier. Do you worry about that at all?

  • Tempted but I don't know about buying one from another region. What happens if I need warranty? What exactly is locked out? Why am I not searching for answers to these easily googlable questions?

    So many unknowns!

But I could sell my watch 4 classic for $100 after fees on ebay and get a nice little upgrade for $250. That's slightly compelling.
