Just noticed this deal when browsing the Google Store. It's $390 store credit for any size in the Pixel 8 Pro
Throw in the potential additional 10% store credit being a Google One subscriber and you're looking at over $550 in store credit (depending on which Pro model you go for)
Furthermore, they are also offering an increased $390 trade in value for your old Pixel 6 Pro, if you have one.
They have a similar offer of $220 store credit offered for the regular Pixel 8.
genuinely curious but is this because the P8 is coming out or is there a flaw in the series?
No issues they are great phone. Just overpriced to start with and then when newer phones come, it seems google and retailers just want to push the inventory out without caring much about margins.

it's only credited to your account once the phone ships. So only on future purchases. But I do believe you can pay off things like your Google One subscription with store credit.

I only get 3% back in store credit as a Google one subscriber, so I assume it depends on what google one plan I am on to get that 10% extra?
that's correct, I should have clarified that, it's for those on anything 2TB plan and up. But nothing stopping you from upgrading, making the purchase and then going back to a lower tier once the credit rolls in. You would only have to pay the $12.49 as a once off.

Basically if you are in a sales position selling Google devices, you complete semi-mandatory training which you can redeem for either free or heavily discounted devices.
Oh and telcos also have Apple champions and Samsung Elite that get free devices for being something akin to a brand ambassador (basically just completing a few online questions every few months)

It won't stack. Google refunds the difference of the price match after your order ships (regardless of using Studentbeans or paying full amount). 10% store credit is for final amount paid I believe).

Thinking maybe I could buy something and re-sell to turn the credit back into cash but not sure if anything holds value enough for the re-sell

the trade-in values offered for Samsung Galaxy A 70 is $170 and A71 is $50 !
That's great value for the A70, most places give you $30-50 for trade-in or say we'll recycle it for free.
