Didn't wifi 7 just get announced?

    • +3

Nope, that was roughly October last year.
WIFi7 is not very good value unless you need that excessive throughput, because driving that many special streams is BRUTAL on the power consumption. (not to mention hardware costs currently).

You might be thinking of WiFi8 which was recently drafted and expected to be finalized this year.

      • thats the one

      • And there's almost zero client devices that support it yet…

    • It just got officially ratified.

  • how does this compare to the good old ax86u? it's been a while since the last deal of ax86

  • Are there any laptops phones or tablets that have a WiFi 7 chip?

  • +3

    Germany = reduced power, iirc

      BMW M3, AMG C63, AUDI R8

      Dont think so

        Easy now Schumacher.

They are talking about routers from the EU. Not sports cars.

        No G wagon habibi?

      • 😂 I liked your comment but 10 others didn’t seem to.

    • I think that is just a firmware setting.

  • “ASUS TUF Gaming AX4200 Dual Band WiFi 6 Gaming Combinable Router Tethering as 4G and 5G Router Replacement“

I use my phone as a hotspot for internet at home. can I plug my phone into this and use it as a wifi router with my phone as the modem?

I search for information on routers that I can plug in a usb modem. it seems that it is doable but I am unable to get further information on router that can do that.

    • +2

any glinet router should do this easy

      • thanks.

I did another search with the “tethering router” and I got more information.

Would suggest paying a little more and getting the RT-AX82u which supports Merlin, which is currently on sale for $300 from jbhifi

    • +3

      Merlin is amazing.

But this model supporting OpenWRT is worlds more configurable, but much less simple.

  • Asus is getting bad raps around the net for warranty and customer service atm so keep that in mind.

    • Asus warranty has sucked for years, specially in Australia.

    • Sold by Amazon Germany, Amazon warranty is usually very good?

      • Yeah theyre trying not to get in trouble.

So long as its bought from the .au front end, acl considers it an Australian storefront.

  • Das ist gut?
