[iOS] Yawn: Sleep Sounds, Audiobooks - Free Lifetime Premium IAP (Was $49.99) @ Apple App Store

3040

Yawn is an iOS app that has a library of premium audio content to help you fall asleep. The app will help you unwind and relax with soothing sleep sounds, classic audiobooks and calming music that really works. There is also a Sleep Timer feature so you can set the timer and drift off to sleep without worrying about turning off the sounds during the night.

I built this app for my wife, it's still very new and far from perfect but I am doing my best and so far the feedback has been really good! She helps select the sleep sounds, colour noises and calming music for the app so hopefully you guys enjoy it :)

How to get free Lifetime Yawn Premium:

  1. Open app
  2. Go through onboarding (it’ll take you less than 20 seconds)
  3. There will be a paywall that will pop up (it will say "Understand your sleep better") and have an image in the center of the paywall popup
  4. Double tap on the center image
  5. A hidden offer that says "Get Yawn free" button will appear, tap on it
  6. Enjoy your Lifetime membership to Yawn Premium for Free

If you used the lifetime free premium deal, can please leave a rating on the app store it really helps me and the app a lot! Thanks so much and feel free to shoot me any questions you have. I will continue to add more content and improve the app for you all.

No problem at all :) Let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to be added to the app and I will do my best! enjoy

      • +1

Does it have a fan sound, I love falling asleep to the fan

        • +3

          It does indeed :)

          • @TeyakiSays: Awesome, will join up tonight. So how do you make money if you’re providing free accounts? Or is this a data grab app??

        • +16

I love falling asleep to the fan

          Try Onlyfans.

          • +19

@jv: haha! I should create a playlist in the app called OnlyFans and have different types of fan noises

  • OP put fireworks as a sound from all over the world to sleep to in the future. Thanks

    • +2

Ooooh! hadn't thought of this one - it's getting added to the list for the next content update for you

    • i thought this was a joke?

      • Thanks just an idea I thought of that would be great to listen to. Thanks again and looking forward to the update. Look at London, Dubai, New York, Sydney fireworks.

    premium audio content

    How is it premium?

    • +4

      Hey thanks for the question,

so when looking for audio content to add the the app I made sure to add high quality audio files, I typically only add files that are at 320 kbps (however you could have 192 kbps and most likely nobody would be able to tell the difference unless they had really good headphones) but lower quality audio on the other side could be things like AM radio which is at 32 kbps. Sounds a little fuzzy down the other end of the scale and much clearer, crisp and deep at this end.

I guess its just a snazzy way of saying nice sounding sounds :)

      • Ironically, fuzzy AM radio sounds are also soothing for sleep!

        • So true! Saw a baby slept over CB radio noise

      Where’s the bold?

      • +6

        with the beautiful.

  • +5

    Damn, nothing for android? :(

    • +6

      Sorry @ignited141 :(

my wife has an iphone so its only on iOS first - in the future though absolutely, I will try and hunt you down if we come out with an Android version and get you your free lifetime premium!

      • +1

        No problem, thanks anyway!

  • +2

The in-app graphics are cool as hell, thanks heaps OP!

    • +3

I'm terrible when it comes to design and was worried the graphics and art in the app would come off as amateurish - so thank you very much for this comment, put a smile on my face!

  • Thanks for this. Can you please add a 'shush' repeat noise for babies to avoid me having to do it! :)

    • +1

I have had someone ask about white nosie for babies actually so maybe I can add this "shush" noise and a few others to a playlist just for babies, thanks for the suggestion @donniedarko3000

      • Thanks! White noise is a more common one but a baby section would be great - shush shush shussssh patterns :)

Appreciate your work and love the design

  • I’m on the homepage of the app but I don’t see how to get the free premium version. Please help.

    • +1

BabOkay so if you have passed the paywall on accident without double tapping, close the app completely (swipe up and close it), then on reopen it should show you the paywall and you can double tap the image to reveal the hidden lifetime discount. Hope this helps

      • Got it. Thanks.

  • Thank you!

    • Not a problem at all! enjoy :)

  • Thank you will test and feedback great work

    • no worries and thank you very much @aa909, helps a lot!

  • Can you add cat purring? None of the apps I use have this

  • I may be missing it but when I click on the Magnifying glass Discover it doesn't let me search just takes me to a selection. Would like to search for something specific if possible like Rain or Fan and so on.

Android for the missus as well if you do one

    • +1

I can absolutely add a way to search for specific sounds in the next update for you SirNed, sorry about that - it seems obvious now I feel a bit silly for not having that feature!

  • Thanks OP and the graphics do look awesome! I’ll check it out tonight!

    • +1

That means a lot! thanks Skatez

  • I tested all your music clips for sleep and all are so basic. Perhaps good for others but not sleep music. Deleted.

    • +1

      hey Oz,

totally understand if the calming music side of things doesn't suit you I tried to add in as much as possible but the app is still new and I am constantly adding more content.

Let me know what you would like to hear and what you listen to at the moment and I will happily add more of that for you, also it is a free lifetime subscription so it will continue to be free for you forever as the app improves :)

      Thanks again for your feedback!

  • Awesome - good step towards quality sleep

    • Enjoy! let me know if you have anything at all you like listening to and I can add it to the app for you in the next update :)

      • Thanks - I use SleepStream which has flutes/soft piano combined with binaural beats for deep sleep ; will test it out and let you know , cheers

  • Thanks op. Will review shortly.

  • This looks nice and polished, great work!

    • Thanks for that, let me know if you have anything you want added to the app and I will add it for you :)

  • Is there a sound of mac and cheese being stirred at a slow to medium pace? For some reason I find it comforting.

    • +1

I just searched youtube and apparently that is a thing, quite a few ASMR videos on it haha. I can add this if you really want it :)

      • If it's not too much hassle, that would be great, thanks!

  • Loved the app!! Listening to Yamn Lofi while working!! Keep up the good work !!

    • Thank you! I always listen to Lofi in the background while working so wanted to add some into the app, I got a great artist to create them all from scratch!

  • +2

The best sound apps I have used have customisable sounds.
I would love to have a section to be able to select a series of sounds. I'd like to be able to select things like rain, thunder, crickets, campfire, river etc and have them 'overlap' and run at the same time.
    Nice app so far though.

    • I also love this! I have added it to my list, I can create a section to add multiple sounds playing at the same time and let you change the audio levels on them to create something 100% custom. Would you like to be able to save the custom sound set as a "preset" or would you prefer to just mess around with them each time?

Thanks for the awesome feedback Benstu

      • I love this idea. I'd definitely want to save as a preset.

      • +1

Saving sounds as a preset would be awesome!
This is a really simple one my wife uses. She doesn't use the Pro version
        https://apps.apple.com/us/app/white-noise-pro-sleep-sounds/i…

        • +1

I like the UI it seems really easy to find sounds, I will take a look at what they have and make sure I add as many of the sounds as possible for your wife. I will also look at adding in overlapping sounds and the ability to create your own presets I think that would be really cool

  • Thanks for this, I'll try it tonight, let's see if it compares to random youtube videos

    • Thanks! hope you enjoy, also let me know what you want to hear on the app and I'll add it for you :)

  • Thanks will try the app to see if it helps. Now I just need an app that stops my cat doing laps of the bed head in the morning.

  • +1

Will you be adding the ability to cast? I like to play rain sounds through my TVs speakers with a totally black screen. Many YouTube videos claim to be black but aren’t.

A search function would be great, and the ability to create playlists and favourites.

I also don’t seem to be able to rewind/fast forward/move the slider. Not sure if this is just a bug, and it isn’t so relevant for a repetitive sound, but is definitely useful for the music. It doesn’t seem to connect to the phone’s music interface either, so it can’t be adjusted there either.

The app interface is rather reminiscent of Calm, which is pretty nice. You’re only starting out, so there’s a few things to work on but there’s a lot of potential here which I’ll be looking forward to! The tips from other commenters here are also quite handy.

I really like this idea. I'll look into how hard its going to be for me to add casting as I have never done it before.

Search function is an absolute for the next update. What are your thoughts on sleep tracking as have a mock up for some ideas but don't know if people need that sort of feature.

Ah, this is mostly just an oversight on my end I can look at adding it in next update also. Thanks for pointing it out! it's hard to beta test your own apps as you just see it so often it blurs together

thanks! I like Calm and feel like they have a really nice UI that works so I will try and go in that direction, I have a couple ideas of how to add in functionality to stand out from other sleep apps but as you said I am just starting out with this. I appreciate your feedback and assure you it's all going in my notebook!

      • Definitely would like the ability to cast onto a speaker via wifi the way Spotify and Youtube allows on iOS. That way we can just cast onto our Sonos system or a particular speaker at home.

  • Thanks OP. Will try that and will leave feedback. That already looks fantastic <3

Meanwhile, for those that like to listen to sleep music via Youtube, please subscribe to this new channel and enjoy high quality tracks: https://www.youtube.com/@DreamyLullabiZzz

Your support is much appreciated :) :)

  • Thanks OP, could u add WW2 trenches distant battle asmr rly helps me to sleep ;)

    • I saw this on youtube! had no idea people liked it as a way to help them sleep but I listened for a while and it actually did seem somewhat calming haha

    Soothing ocean sounds please https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHZEvGyRPDs

  • Beethoven’s Pastoral.

  • @TeyakiSays thanks for this app - I’ll be trying it out as soon as I get over this throat infection. I laughed at the love/hate relationship with sleep be that do describes me to a T. I have to have the bedroom pretty dark but not pitch black but temperature has to be in a certain range. But the ADHD means my brain runs at 1000 KM/H and I either have to medicate myself or be so tired I can’t stay awake anymore, my record is 54 hours non caffeinated. I used to very much need a fan noise to fall asleep before I was diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD or stare into a bed side lamp trying to think of just the light to clear my mind - sometimes that would work sometimes not.

I’ve seen multiple sleep specialists as my sleep is all over the place and as long as I get my 10K steps in during the day, that definitely helps. But at least two sleep specialists said I had “late onset sleep cycle disorder” but not all agree. This is where the hormones to help you sleep including melatonin are not kicking in my brain at night. No I don’t use screens before bed but I have blue light blockers on my reading glasses as that is definitely something that people should know about by now which is why a lot of phones have a night mode which removes the blue from the screen. My issue has been lifelong at least since I was a teenager. I’m over 50 now. So I’ve been working on different things throughout my life. Sounds like fans/white noise used to work for me in my late teens and 20s but I’m constantly finding that I have to keep changing the methods I use to fall asleep.

Thanks again for your app. I will definitely see if it helps. Cheers.

    • Not sure if it will help you but I read before I go to sleep. Usually something I've read before so I can put it down as soon as I feel sleepy. I also have a notebook by the bed so I can write down the things I think of so I'm not doing the "I must remember that in the morning" thing.

Currently I'm only getting about 5 hours sleep a night but if I pick up the book and start reading, rather than reaching for the electronic devices, I usually get a few more hours in.

Best of luck on your sleep journey.

    • I saw this a few days ago, maybe have a read of this news article

      https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/wellbeing/no-drugs-…

  • Look forward to trying this. I have used a good one called Waves that has (surprise, surprise) sounds of waves of varying types. Quite realistic and you cant hear the dread restart of any loop in a recording.

  • Feedback:

The in app purchase window shows up every after app start despite the lifetime subscription. Have to press x or restore purchase for the splash screen to disappear.

    • Hi Oz thanks this is good feedback, the popup paywall showing each time is a bug from me.

For anyone reading this comment and is wondering what to do:

You should just X out of the popup when you open up the app if you have already gotten the lifetime deal. There is need to get it again you will already have it (you can click on your profile tab to see but it will say "you are premium") I will make sure to get this fixed and thanks to everyone who gave my little app a try! I will make sure to put out an update with a lot of these suggestions and bug fixes soon

  • What about android? I need this 😔

    • Story checks out, you look tired…

  • +1

Sorry if you've already answered this but i did the double tap, accepted the offer and installed. Played a rain sound, closed the app, re-opened and it's popped up with the annual offer again. Am I supposed to double tap the screen each time? I've tried restore purchase but the annual offer pops up every time i open the app

Also, would love some nice light rain sounds. I haven't been able to find an app with a soft rain sound at all, they all have other background noise

    • +1

Hi Johnny, I can absolutely add some nice light rain sounds for you in the next update :)

As for the popup paywall each time - no that's a bug you should just X out of the popup when you open up the app after you already have the lifetime deal. no need to get it again you will already have it (you can click on your profile tab to see but it will say "you are premium") I will make sure to get this fixed

  • Great app. Think my fiance would love this.

A suggestion, A search function would be awesome!
Also, is there a cicada sound? I’m in new Zealand arm, and I’m finding them very soothing to sleep to. They’re everywhere here.

    • They used to drive me mental when trying to sleep! but I'll get it added for the next update just for you Mariachi :)

      • Thanks mate. You’re a legend!

  • In-app purchase not allowed

    • Check your Screen Time settings.

  • Testing app

  • I used to live near a train crossing, can you add passing trains and gate closing sounds?

My new home is too quiet and it's hard to relax.

    • had not thought of that one! I'll see what I can do in the next update for you Brendan :)

  • nice easter egg there
    thanks guys

  • My bad no I didn’t

    Thanks op

  • Sleep sounds don’t loop for me they play once and stop or go onto the next one

    • Hi Sandy, there is a little button down the bottom right when you are playing a sound you need to click on it to loop the sound :)

      • +1

Mine has a one in it when I tap and when I tap again it’s off, either position doesn’t loop?

      • Mine is the same, if I press the button in the bottom right hand corner it loops the track once but doesn’t continue to loop. Needs to be continued loop.

  • Got it! Thanks OP! I look forward to better sleep!

  • Thanks OP. I will give it a try.

  • Impressive.
    Cheers.

You derserve more updoots for this.

    • Thanks Fred :) That means a lot!

      • So does having free access to an app like this.
        Cheers

  • Thank you so much, I will give this a go. One of the sounds a family member used to always want to listen to was the tumble dryer going. Not sure if there is much demand for this :)
