  • Wow! That’s a cracking deal! I pay $30 a month for QuickBooks and hate it haha. Might just be the push I need to change!

Maybe try xero. Myob is just dinosaur and you might end up paying a lot more along the way.

As a myob subscriber , god I hate myob

  • It is a cracking deal. I am speachless

      Lol speechless.

  • Noice

  • Do either include payroll?

  • +3

This is like buying shit for $10 because you saw a RRP of $100.

    Literal shit.

    • I hate MYOB as much as the next bloke. But free for 12 months is still free if you wanna dip the toes in

      • +2

The classic version was great, trying to keep up with xero and going online they went to shit.

Wouldn't recommend dipping your toes, but it might be a lesson that needs to be learnt first hand.

Ahh yes. Bring back business basics for $99 one time fee. Or for those old enough, cash book

          • @bemybubble: It's more about the functionality not working all the time because of online, look at their partner page on Facebook. The stories seem there are enough to put you off.

            • @Figure8: Fair point.

Personally I think this is a good way for a start up to not outlay money in the beginning to have half decent systems in place. And if they do well, switch to Xero. If they don’t. Then no heavy outlay.

But again just IMO. Reality of it is you’ll know in twelve months if you need it or not

              • @bemybubble: Yeah course this is all personal opinion.

If you ever give it a go, let me know how you find it.

Shit software. Avoid like the plague.

There is a free alternative for invoicing and accounting called wave. If you want payroll (not sure if does AUS payroll) and payments and some other bits they cost extra.

    • +1 for Wave (I think they've been bought out by Zoho, but are still functioning standalone). I don't need payroll, and have been using the free version for years. Great for personal and small business accounting.

My wife who is a tax accountant swears by Manager.

      https://www.manager.io/

There's definitely better free options out there. MYOB are a disgusting company to deal with. I still have Accountright 2016.3 (fully paid for at the time) and now they keep locking me out for no reason and I have to call them to re-activate every month or two. Apparently the software is deprecated so they have the right to lock it and keep me from using it. They've changed their web site blurb to even say they will not be activating my software again (however when I ring them luckily they still do it - I suspect there's legal implications to changing the terms after purchase)

I'll be switching this financial year to Manager myself. MYOB used to be great when they were a pay once software company, but once they went subscription (even though I bought mine in the pay once era) they became ruthless. I'm only a small one person company and don't need any updates. The software works fine for me!!!

    • Wave is great software. Where I found it could not run well was for BAS which MYOB does natively

Still the UX is excellent of it and the invoices look good

My friend works for them….. IT'S A DOGSHIT COMPANY.

  • What is an alternative to Xero for Accounting and Payroll? Xero is increasing its fee regularly and introducing features which small biz may not need.

Years ago our company got stuck with them because of data locking bullshit. We had to hire 2 people just for data entry and exporting 3 years worth of transactions. Also, try calling for help (with ANY issue you can think of, 90% chance they won't help) MYOB doesn't have the word "customer" or "service" in their dictionary.
