  • Prices are more or less the same as previous sales, since Reolink jacks up the price to accommodate the double stacking of discount.

Just heads-up to everyone looking at the doorbell (I got rather disappointed after purchasing it during last deal)

    • every night/day switch triggers a motion alarm, meaning you will get at least twice a day false positive. If you plan to install multiple cameras, they will switch day/night at different times and you will get spammed with these false alarms. The only workaround is to disable motion alarm and use only "person" (some sort of AI vision) and "visitor" (button press) detection.
    • doorbell does not support SIP calling, so when the alarm occurs, Users often miss the notification as it can be delayed due to phone's power saving mode. The notifications are simple and unreliable "push" stuff, same as if you receive messages - it can be delayed by a few seconds or minutes. It is not fast and reliable as proper "calling" notification, similar to what phone/skype/messenger/whatsapp use.
    • If the 2 way audio is active (either forgotten or stuck), pressing the doorbell button does not produce any sound on included chime. How could it get stuck? For example by trying to integrate it into HomeAssistant. I found no way to detect remotely, if it is stuck or not. The only signal that "some" device is connected to 2-way audio is status LED on the doorbell.
  • It seems it is still cheaper to buy from their own website's flash sale:
    https://reolink.com/flash-sale/

    • The website is $119.99 for the POE one, which a few bucks more expensive?

      • there was a count down sales last night. Only a couple of bucks cheaper though

Is this true? Why is the app not safe?

  • I've been looking at buying two Argus 3 Pro security camera's and it's cheaper to buy direct with their 5% discount code ggreo3f42au

  • Can you use the wifi doorbell camera to retrofit an existing doorbell camera to have hardwire power from the old camera and wifi for connection?

    • Chiming in late (hihi) but it looks like yes, if existing feed is within their power specs " 12-24VAC 50/60Hz, DC 24V ".
