Shame my Ali account is locked down otherwise I’d get one and we could both wear them to the next goat sacrifice.

      • +3

I will order another for you now and jv can present it to you with the goat.

        • @jv is literally wearing the goat head trying to be baphomet.

    • Is water resistant? The description says no but the watch back says "Water Resistant 34ATM"

      • +1

Very safe to assume that for $10 and no screw in crown that it is not water resistant.

        • Lol don't spill coffee on it at your desk.

  • Shows as $5 Australian for me

    • +2

Add GST (thanks Gerry) and shipping

      • +14

        GST = Gerry’s Slimebag Tax?

  • Take that, inflation!

Interesting take on the half red bezel (not covering the final 15mins)

    Thanks OP. Ordered.

If anyone is looking for a sub AU$10 digital watch I could recommend the SKMEI 1025, two of them lasted me well over 10 years (only got rid of the first one because the band broke, still worked fine.

Haven't tested it at depth, but I keep it on while working with saltwater, or elbow-deep in dirty irrigation pits, no issues yet other than scratches on the face.

best price I can find at the moment is US $5.75 + us$2 shipping (free over us$10 order of Choice items)

    https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005005073131654.html

    • +5

Skmei are awesome, here is my Skmei 1134. I'd probably get the slightly smaller Skmei 1628 next time.

      • I'm interested in the smaller one. Is it equivalent to the Baby G (which I would prefer).

        • Specs are in the pics but it basically the same size as the Casio G-Shock DW5600 as you can see in this video the Casio bezel will fit.

          • @WatchNerd: Drat. Do you know of any SKMEI that is closer to the Baby G?
Also keen for any smaller field watches.

            • @dangerdanger: No I don't but G-Shocks are meant to be worn big so it will be fine.

I've seen girls with tiny wrists wearing even bigger G-Shocks.

    • +4

Thanks for contributing something useful! There's a few clowns about tonight, but then again this is a fun kinda watch.

I also choose Skmei for outdoor activites, and it's been a great value choice. Around $10 I think, from an old OzB deal.

      • Must be a full moon lol.

        That's a lot of watch for $10.

That smaller square skmi G-Shock looks alright for the price if you didn't want to spend $100 on a
        G5600e-1 solar).

I would get either over that diver that isn't waterproof, would surely end up in landfill before long.

        • +2

          That's a lot of watch for $10.

Right you are. It was $12 because at the time, I just had to have a pedometer.
          To keep track of pedos.

@Speckled Jim: Ha, how does that work, do you wear it around the school?

            • @G-rig: Yeah nah. Linguistic gymnastics.
Boring old step counter, and it's not even very good!

    • Looks great!

    • Thanks OZKap, ordered!!

    • -2

Agreed, imagine swimming with sharks and realizing you just missed an episode of Friends due to the watch not working under water.
I'll wait for a better alternative too.

      Not Waterproof

So you can remove your PSA neg vote. If someone buys it expecting it to be waterproof then it's their problem.

      • +2

        Thanks for pointing out.
I was looking everywhere on the page for any signs. Have removed my vote.

Can't imagine why anyone would want to wear a diver style watch that isn't waterproof lol. They only look like that as the design is made for withstanding depth so it has all the ugly of dive with none of the function. Oh well, each to their own

        • +1

I think the vast majority of people who wear dive watches will never wear it to shower, let alone go diving with it on. That includes me.

Kind of like active wear. They wear it to the supermarket 😂

  • +1

I got it for 0.75 cents but put the wrong suburb

      Sorry to hear this.

The word "Diver" is used together with the word "Style" to describe this item. So obviously no diving is recommended with it.
I am testing one of these since Christmas time. Just needed a really cheap something to time myself at some tasks at work.
The time keeping is perfect. Compared to the "Atomic Clock" app the watch is loosing so far about 45 seconds after 3 weeks.
For the price I can't think of anything more to ask from this watch. Just wear it until falls apart and then buy another one. Simples!

    • sounds like the perfect beater

      • The beatings will continue until timekeeping improves.

I got a 'welcome deal' after I logged into aliexpress, total cost was AU$4.65. Mostly shipping, actual watch cost was $0.73USD. Insane lol.

      • speaking of watch straps on aliexpress
got those nato style 2 piece straps from heimdallr watch store…..theyre really really good and ive seen them being re-sold for $49 each on watch strap sites
absolute bargain for ~$5 each delivered….they wear & look like quality straps. just bought another 3 different colourways for $15.53 with 14 day delivery… thats 6 so far lol

        • +1

Will have a look, 2 piece are great as they don't add any height.

Everytime i go to that site it fks up my AliExpress browser (PC) and everything in Vietnamese.. the settings don't work properly either so I'll give that store a miss. They are all the same anyway I think. The Barton canvas ones are good, should be some cheapies around of those too.

Do you have the Ali link for that green one that Strapcode is selling?

          • @G-rig: i ordered 3 types…my feedback is the latest AU review, left on each product page.

it does that vietnamese thing to me too! gah!

            • @franco cozzo: Cheers, worthwhile getting 3 for 14 day shipping. Will have to see if any of them would suit the watches I've got.
Accumulating a few straps, but these are different and cheap enough.

They aren't exactly the same if you look at the Strapcode pic, but close enough for the price and a pretty safe buy.

Good to see quality brushed buckles lately, those SD waffle straps had shitty cheap thin ones.
I think I like Natos but two-piece for canvas and textured straps like the first one ;).

            • @franco cozzo: ps. I ordered a grey one of these, look like good quality (herringbone) $6 delivered.
              https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005002460521364.html

Perhaps should have added one or two more of those ones

              • @G-rig: nice. glad youre finding some cool straps and youre not paying 300 bucks either ;)

                • +1

@franco cozzo: That set would have been tops but yeah will just go for the cheapies I think.

              • @G-rig: yes you should have….seriously you wont dislike anything about these. theyre so damn cheap….but good

                • @franco cozzo: ok mate will cancel and re-order, looks like they don't get sent out for a while anyway.

Got a Citizen NY0010-50M coming, people say they don't like the titanium bracelet

                  • @G-rig: nah man…theyre quick. ordered 3 straps jan 9 and received jan 17. just make sure your order qualifies for 14 day delivery and youre set

damn thats a nice citizen diver…that dial colour is beautiful….nice choice. which strap you thinking for that?

                    • @franco cozzo: Nah the stock one would do or just black rubber or nato. Not sure if I'll keep it. Lefty crown and day date auto meh (I had to get something as to use up a store credit. Couldn't get a bloody refund) and I've got a few of those Eco drive divers which I probably prefer. Pretty good watch for $400 though. I think the green one's nicer but that's an extra hundred.

Yes, 14 day delivery sounds good but I may order it again just to save on postage for one or two more straps.

Just days doesn't ship for 7 days

There's a lesson here. The lesson is that modern technologies and the factory system can produce large quantities of an item very cheaply. Unfortunately for us, what usually happens is that the producer and/or distributor and/or retailer whack anything from a 50% to a 2000% markup on these cheaply produced goods. This isn't the case here.

I've also been of the opinion that governments should limit how much markup can be applied to goods, and should force retailers to disclose markups on each product so we know exactly how much they are ripping us off by. People would be very angry if they knew. Anger is good, anger gets things done (as a charcter, Mr anansi, said in American Gods).

    • Ha, what are you comparing it to, a $500 Seiko at Myer?

You left out the economies of scale/the population, sweat shops, the fact it isn't made to last and will go to landfill pretty quickly. No need to get angry, most people know what things are worth and or are happy to pay it anyway.

Is is still amazing how cheap they can make stuff and ship it from China, even if most of it is crap.

      • This $10 watch does exactly the same thing as a $500 watch or a $10,000 Rolex. I agree with you, it will likely not last as long as a more expensive watch, but still $10 every 5 years is a bargain compared to $500 every 20 years. The same story with a $5 K'Mart tshirt vs a $250 designer tshirt; they fulfill exactly the same function, covering up one's torso.

Personally, I wish I could purchase everything directly from the manufacturer and not get ripped off by distributors and retailers. Some companies sell things directly online but you have to purchase in bulk quantities (10 or more items).

Unlike you, I'm not happy about having to pay a 500% markup for items that were produced at a very low per unit cost. I'm not exactly sure how much a $500 Seiko watch would cost to produce, but I suspect it is no more than $25.

        • +1

Just get whatever you are happy with.
In reality you probably don't need one at all if you got a phone.

You're describing everything. A corolla is the same as a Ferrari. People can get whatever they want.

Not suggesting pay retail or more than your budget permits, there are unlimited options for $100-300 if you wanted something half decent. Very easy to get 40-50% off if you keep an eye on deals here. Forgot it's Ozbargain, tightest of the tight!

          • +2

@G-rig: See, that's me. Inflation is excluded from consideration on what constitutes a "bargain" for me. I snagged a ladies Eco drive for under $100 last year (~$93) thanks to this comment by Franco Cozzo.

So a new value bar was set. Logically I know it's unlikely to be approached, much less beaten. And yet, the relentless bargain hunter in me takes some reining-in and self-flagellation before I relent and accept the current "deal".

            • +1

@Speckled Jim: Cool. No shortage of great deals all year round, for quality stuff ;).
