  • Anyone know if JB still do giftcards for the Telstra port-over? I'm due for my annual card (don't want to pay $99/month plan though).

  • Im really hoping I can pull this off again;
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/761300

Basically $149 for the S23 Ultra at $49/month for 12 months with Telstra (after trading in a S22)
Combined two offers with JB-HIFI (which they normally dont do) and then asked Telstra for $20 off per month.

    One of the best deals

    • what was the total cost?

  • +4

Why is it Read Only Memory (ROM)?

      1. "ROM" is taken from JB Hi-Fi's terms & conditions.
      2. Title has reached OzBargain character limit. Unable to replace "ROM" with "Storage". Now abbreviated the second "Gift Card" to "GC" and made the replacement.
    • Upgraded part of the memory cannot be used 🤣

  • It should stack with the trade-in offer, right?

    • I don't see why not it's a gift card post purchase

Trade in offer is a discount on the item coupon code and a gift card as well

    • Also hoping to know

    • can confirm. i traded in a pixel 8 pro (that i got with the harvey deal lol), $850 credit, $300 gift card. so paid $199 out of pocket for the S24 with storage upgrade. another $100 voucher on pick up.

      • did you get the regular s24 or the ultra?

        I have a 8 pro too, just wondering whether I should trade-in for a s24 because I prefer it's size.

Can I know what made you trade-in 8 pro for s24?

        • +1

that was for the standard S24. keen to go back to a smaller form factor after the behemoth of a phone that is the 8 pro. as my last comment mentioned, in the end it was $199 out of pocket for the S24 with a trade in for a pixel 8 pro with the deals they had (i think still going) at JB. trade in price of $850 for the 8 pro, and bonus $350. pay the difference and get a $100 when i pick the phone up

          • @mrhamez: Thanks, that's one of the best deals!
What do you think about the 5g battery drain on S24? As you must have noticed, the drain of 8 pro with 5g was dreadful. Another reason for me to change the phone.

If it's any better in s24, I'll have no hesitations on trading in..

            • @MalithS: i don't have the S24 yet. i came from an S21 to the 8 pro. can't say i had any complaints about the battery. but being smaller, hopefully it doesn't use an much juice. i hadn't considered the 5G drain. but i can't imagine it being any worse

            • @MalithS: Remember P8P has 12GB ram but S24 has 8GB ram, unlike the S24+, but the S24’s processor is better than the pixel’s.

  • I want a new phone hoping to get one at 1300 ish with some good deals.

  • This looks better than the Samsung site if we don't have education portal.

Rather a $300 JB gift card than 350$ of shit accessories that I don't need

    • And any accessory that was kinda ok is unavailable now, unless they have listed stock since I checked this morning.

    Thanks OP. Got one.
For those interested in the steps, I did the following:
    1. On JB hifi site, find the S24* youre after. At the bottom of the product page you'll see the offers. One of them is the trade in offer with a link you can click on which will take you to jbhifi.squaretradeup site.
    2. On the squaretradeup site, you find your device to trade in and start the process. At the end of it, you'll only see the trade in value of the device without mention of the bonus $350. Once done, you'll then get 2 emails. One with a gift card with the value of the device, another that contains a coupon for the S24 range.
    3. Back on JBHifi site, add the S24 device you want, proceed to the checkout then the payment section where you apply the coupon and a separate section for the gift card. Pay the remaining balance however you like.

    • Quick question, could i actually trade my iphone 6s in (gives value of 1) and still get the 350 credit?

      • +2

Yes. The JB Giftcard is separate and is given by JB for doing a trade in. Even if one cancelled the trade in, the $350 is yours regardless at no cost i.e. you do not get charged $350 if cancelled.

Only the trade in value (managed by Squaretradeup)is payable if you neglected to send back the device being traded as they have given you a giftcard in advance for that value.

  • It's not even 23:59 on 22/1 and the $300 gift card offer has expired already. The banner has been changed on the JB website. Now back to $150.

    • Looks like all gift cards amount being halfed, kinda putting me off from pre-order now..

      • Wonder if you could do a deal since TGG is still offering $300

        • Sad, was wondering why it was halved. Not sure why they lowered it early

  • whats the go with NOT sending in tradein phone - is precharge on value of tradein all thats going to be charged on CC or are there any admin fees etc..could not see any other extra charges mentioned on SquaretradeUP…i may sell phone privately to get few $$'s if thats the case.

    • +1

Correct. You get charged the amount of the trade-in, no additional charges.

Some folk in previous deals have noted that they managed to cancel the trade-in and have the Trade-in giftcard also cancelled but I wouldn't take that chance myself as T&Cs note as not refundable.

If you decide not to return item, it is still best to email them and cancel. They only charge the trade-in value. This way you won't receive reminders to send in the item and more importantly your account is not locked on their systems in case you decide to partake in a future deal.

      • thanks - yeah will do this…may just let them know item is "damaged" so won't send and they can charge the prehold…if it sells 🤣

  • Anyone know if you pre order in store, if you can use the gift card to pay for the phone? T&C state gift card will be given instantly on order completion.

  • Anyone preorder online and already picked up? So, we just wait for the giftcard in the email, 2 weeks after collecting?

    • +1

I picked mine up on release day and just got the gift card email yesterday

      • Still haven’t received any giftcard after 2 weeks. Should have done it in-store :(

  • This is probably a stupid question guys, but does anyone know how long it will take for this deal to reoccur or something to match it?

If my figures are right it was
$2199 for the 512GB (double storage)
    $300 gift card
Plus $650 off (I have wife's old phone to trade in and it would get $300 plus the $350 bonus)

I've got that down at $1249 out of pocket, plus I have $1300 in JB gift cards at 10% off.

    Is my data correct there?

I figure a month or two before they do a big discount again?

  • Sorry to ask, can anyone recall the exact list price of the S24 Ultra 512GB in this deal? (Including the fact the storage is doubled for free)

I think it was 2199 for the 512 ultra, plus 300 gift card right?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Hey thanks!

        Damn!

That's 1899 for the 512gb ultra, before any Telstra sign up discounts, or any trade in discounts.

        Basically $500 off!

Thanks, gonna have to wait a while for discount for sure
