WTF, it looks better than the S24U I just ordered.

    • +1

I will take QHD+ AMOLED over FHD+ LCD. Processor is mid range MediaTek Dimesity 7050 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

Also, S24U will have better camera, software and regular updates.

Not sure what's the point of putting 24GB RAM and 512GB storage with mid range processor.

      • +3

        It’s not 24gb RAM, it’s 12gb plus 12gb “virtual” RAM. It’s just using storage.

Seems really common on budget phones these days to pump the numbers. I suspect the storage won’t be super fast either (but still, I’d prefer more storage over ridiculously fast storage)

This seems an alright midrange phone for someone solely focused on battery life. I doubt it takes amazing photos or will get many updates, plus there’ll be the risk of no real warranty to speak of

        • Had a look at the unboxing video and to say it's chunky will be an understatement. Need custom pockets ;-).

          • @dealhunter52: Might need a custom belt too, weighs 385 grams. For comparison an iPad mini is 293 and an 11” iPad Pro is 466.

Even two iPhones is around 350g

      • Probably doesn't phone home to china either….

        HOLD IT: Not so apparently…..

Or advertise 3 cameras, but popping of the back cover reveals only the one, but that's one person saying so i guess.

And i guess you get what you get

  • can i charge my iphone with this too

    • Yeah, it will reverse charge at 5w

  • Holy crap, that is a great phone if you're ok with the size.

  • +1

Regular updates and this thing could be a regular beastie

  • Just how safe / secure are these phones? Certainly an attractive price point for a rugged, outdoors-focussed device. But it sounds like it runs an in-house version of Andriod (Doke OS 4.0), as an iPhone user I've little experience with this ecosystem.

    • DokeOS is just stock Android with a different launcher. There's minor changes elsewhere but overall remains the same.

Code BV15 gives me $371.23AUD after tax.. tempted as a spare travel phone…

  • +5

    Battery :8800mAh

A phone that doubles as a blunt object to whack would be muggers with.

    *Blackview, not Blackwivew

  • +1

Is this really the first phone with a solid-state battery??? I thought solid-state batteries were still being researched and prototyped…

Here are some reviews floating round.

Not very good, stole my wife.
Too big for my purse and racist.
    Great phone, good for astronauts.

    Sourced from Amangzong.

  • Was quite interested until found the weight - 385g.

Even if you don't need a case, that's pretty hefty.

    • +1

Just weighed my s23u with rugged case out of curiosity. 324g. It does get a bit cumbersome.

    • That's actually way lighter than I expected. Plenty of phones weigh 250g+ these days

  • How is the processor, what is equivalent to? med or high end range?

    • +3

      Snapdragon 778G apparently.

So in saying that. A midranger.

  • Don't know if id ever feel comfortable buying a phone from aliexpress.

    • -3

      racist

      • -1

If you cry wolf too many times, people will start to ignore real actual racism.

        • +1

          exactly how a racist justifies

  • If that's not big enough, there's always the Tank 3, with a 23800mAh battery.

    • is it a tablet? no
      is it a laptop? no

      It's super phone :)

Massive ad to read through lol
    No 3.5mm jack.
    Non starter for me
    No micro sd slot
And its a mediatek chipset. Pass.

    • USB C to 3.5mm are like 3-8 dollars on eBay 😂

  • Comparison of different models. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bETNeH3Mprk

  • After looking online it appears blackview offer hardly any android OS patches and definitely no OS version updates. Explains how they provide for so cheap. Its a shame…. Just get a Samsung mid ranger and buy one of those heavy rugged cases with batter pack lol

    • Are there many dual sim samsung mid rangers with 12GB Ram and 512GB storage less than $400?

      • Additionally without bloatware?

The only real issues I have with these Aliexpress / not so international brand name phones is security and OS updates … But as a waterproof/rugged travel phone for calls, movies, games, and a little social media they are great - banking, or business related activity is probably ok for a while when they are newly released but without patches they become less and less secure…

I ran AGM phones for a while. have tried ulefone…. Just had a Redmi note pro 10 have the battery expand which I used as a spare - ordered a battery to attempt replacement - at least being Xiaomi related they got patches, etc. but only for a set period of time.. Blackview has been around for a while though so expecting it should be ok hardware wise..

      • Some of the Samsung A34 would get close I think. Only 8gb ram actually, otherwise can get the rest for close to $400.

  • Can I order this in a Iphone 15 pro max skin?

  • Price dropped again - now $347AUD shipped but discount codes not working…
