Hey guys,

If anyone is interested - Kogan has dropped the price of their S3 Blues to $459 + shipping.

Came up at around $478 including shipping for me.

Note 2 is also on sale (cheaper than shoppingsquare deal) - $599

Noooooo! I bought the Note2, two days ago from them for $649.. Is there anything I can do to get the updated $599 price????? :(

    • +2

did u use a 28 degrees credit card with that protection? that gives a refund if the price drops?

      • +1

Does 28 degrees credit card price protection work with Kogan?

    • +1

This happened to me too with the S3. I rang up Kogan and nicely asked if they could do something about the price difference. They couldn't give me the updated price, but they did give me store credit to the value of the difference. Better than nothing!

      • +1

I believe that's pretty good of Kogan given they could offer nothing. By crediting the difference depending on their market up at the time they could be losing money.

Is it me, or is this phones price dropping every week? I seem to be seeing deals on ozbarg for this phone all the time lately.

    • +1

Won't drop that much more, the S2 is still selling for $359. I'm just happy I can get an awesome phone at this price.

  • +1

478 … cheapest ever for the 16GB S3 … good deal … dumped my old 3GS today :-) Time to upgrade … Thanks! Just missed out on the cheap 64GB microSD card deal from amazon :-( Only downside is that I need to purchase Apps again … :-(

Anyone know when/if the S3 will return to it's $499 price? I just want to wait until 30th to see what Nexus(ie) have to offer!

    • +1

Was thinking the same thing, but the new Nexus phone will unlikely have removable battery or micro sd slot. It would most likely be the LG Optimus G. http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/22/lg-exec-claims-nexus-due-…

    • +3

Same here. If the new Nexus phone is crappy with tiny internal storage and more expensive than this S3, then either S3 or Motorola Razr HD will be my next phone. Like mini_wombat, been hanging onto my old iPhone 3GS for so long now, 4/4S/5 just don't impress me enough to fork out $800-$1000 for new iPhone. And yes, repurchasing same apps on Android is going to be PITA.

      • I doubt it would come with less than 16GB storage, and yes it will definitely be more expensive than this S3. At least you can always go back to iOS since you'll have apps on both platforms.

:-) hehe … we love the old 3GS … nothing wrong with it.

Would never spend more than 500 on a phone. I usually love to keep my device it for 3-4 years. There is not much what a 3GS can't do compared to a S3 … or iPhone5. Of course it is nicer, faster, flashier and some new functionality. But 180+ votes convinced me I buy a good deal.

I bought already a few Android apps at the 10cent special last year and 25cent special this year to prepare for the switch … which now comes in handy :-). I will continue to purchase great deals on IOS for my IPad so I am able to swap platforms as I wish. Will be fun playing with a new OS.

:) It doesn't say on Kogan the time of sale ei?

just bought the note from uniquemobiles on the weekend :(

first rule of online shopping, dont buy it unless it appears on ozb with 50+ votes, otherwise its not a bargain

      • +6

        second rule of OB

when you see 50+ it may mostly be out of stock

        • +1

          A.k.a. being "ozbargained" lol

        • +2

Who negged this, it wasn't a neg worthy post

aiya….my wife's bday today…forked out for a S3…and also got an Amaysim pay-as-u-go plan…works out cheaper than any other contract/combo/plan…she's not a heavy user - so this is PERFECT! Darn bargains…bleedin' me dry…

We should get some t-shirts made "I've just been OZB-ed!"…

    • +1

Great idea about the T-shirts. Make sure they are sold at a special bargain price though :P

Is it me or is the price $499?

    • +1

Its not you … the price just gone up…..

  • +1

looks like price went up to 499$ + shipping for S3.

I'm in Hong Kong on holidays and can't find the Note 2 cheaper (with any sort of warranty). Seems a pretty good deal.

    • I travel to HK every year, but I wouldn't purchase anywhere besides the well known places like Fortress or Broadway, but they are not exactly cheap stores. I should ask my friends there if theres are cheap trusted sellers around, thats the hard bit.. On another note when I went to Korea I thought I could pick up a cheap samsung phone over there but apparently its rare for shops to sell outright.. hmm. d'oh!

  • +1

Based on the note 1 and previous price drops, does anyone know if and when the note 2 is likely to drop below the mythical $500 mark (including shipping)?

Am also wondering if it would be worthwhile getting the 4G variant as admittedly I don't know much about this technology and how well its been implemented to date - all replies would be greatly appreciated!

    • +1

Unlikely to until after the Note 3 release

    • +1

I am happy if I can get is below $600 delivered.

Waiting will never end if you want the latest phone at cheapest price.

BTW, 4G is not much use as the 4G coverage is not much. By the time 4G becomes mainstream, Note 3 or Note 4 is already out.

      • +3

I'm looking for a similar price point to you. It's getting close. Agree with the points of 4G. Unless you use your phone a lot in the CBD or fortunate to be one of the towns that already has it (Mt Barker) it's not a worthwhile premium. Most phone plans don't have high enough allowances to justify the download speed.

        • Thanks for the helpful reply

  • Has anyone received their item yet? ordered on the 25th October and just got an email from kogan saying that dispatch will take another 5 days from today……
