Howdy Legends,

We are getting in early on the Feb deals and have a few different configs up for grabs. This time we are in the mid to high tier neck of the woods.

Bringing back these popular beastly i9 & AM5 X3D 4090 systems. We have secured stock to finalize any pre-existing with a bit extra on top for these deals.

Return of the Classic RTX 3080 Paired with the 5700X for a nice budget high tier build.

And a cutla budget bad boys, sporting the RTX 4060 paired with either the i5-12400F or the R5 5500.

We are pretty much through the BD/January orders as of now, and for anything outstanding from early JAN/BD, we have sent an update via email.

im thinking of getting back into pc gaming. Mainly sim racing which will be on a LG 4k Oled 42 inch, so will be limited to 120hz. Am i better off going for a 3080 or 4060 system? Is a 4090 overkill?

    • -1

Neither the 3080 or 4060 will do 4k well unless you're using very, very low graphics, and even then it won't hit those high framerates.

A 4090 for 4k 120hz gaming is definitely not overkill. Check benchmarks, but a 4080/4080s will likely be much better value for money.

And unless you want RT, AMD may be a good option too (7900xtx)

      • +6

3080 works fine for 4K currently on high graphics, especially for games with DLSS support. The only game I have had to stray from “high/ultra” to maintain 60fps was Alan Wake 2, and that looks incredible even at medium/low settings.

I would not go the 4060, that is a bad card. If you can find a system with a 4070 Ti Super that is a good high end value bet imo, the 16GB ram is useful at 4K, as is DLSS frame generation.

        • +1

Thanks. Probably sounds like i should invest in a 4090, especially to future proof. While i was on the site, i noticed you can up the RAM etc. Would 64gb DDR5 be advisable? Assuming two banks of 32gb each. Any other upgrades i should consider?

          • +7

@deepfriedchips: The 4090 is a very good card don’t get me wrong, but you will never be “future proof”. The 4070 Ti Super is half the price and will perform excellently at 4K.

32GB memory is sufficient. I would get a system with the 7800X3D as it is the best gaming processor on the market and good value. You may find the 1Tb ssd is a constraint.

          • +2

@deepfriedchips: Unless the money is really not important, a 4080 is a big chunk cheaper, and will hit 120fps very comfortably and consistently.

Do check benchmarks for the game you're after.

            Eg. Forza: https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/forza-moto…

      • +1

Lol. I have a 6750xt and play at 4k on the same tv. Granted i need either medium settings or high with some FSR adjustment, but saying a 3080 wont do 4k without very low graphics is a joke. And thats ignoring DLSR as well.

    • Fast motion 4k needs significant GPU power.
4080 series if you can afford it.

    • I had a 3080 and 308ti, not really good enough for 4K120 imo. 4090 is definitely the shit. If money is and issue or if you actually have self control (I didn't lol), the 4080 is probably a good purchase.

I can see that Zip & Paypal are a payment option but can't be used during checkout, is this a bug or correct?

    • +2

I am aware that they had countless deals on here before, but the idea of providing my credit card information, including the CCV, makes me uneasy.
Additionally, under "contact us," all you get is a form that can be filled out, with no actual contact details such as a phone number, email, or address.
The whole picture just doesn't sit well with me.
While I acknowledge that they may be a reputable seller, this webpage raises too many red flags for me, which would make it almost impossible for me to bring myself to make any purchase there.

Seems I didnt receive a conformation email, is that normal?

    • No confirmation email here either

    • It took 2 days for my confirmation email

    • I ended up with an email saying that they hadn't received shipment of one of the parts (motherboard: MSI z790 pro wifi) and offered to swap to an alternative product (gigabyte) for immediate delivery and a $50 refund for the trouble, or wait for the shipment to arrive (apparently next week) and will deliver ASAP. Having said that, when I emailed the sales team a week prior to check on the status, they said my order should be completed early-mid this week. Oh well, let's see how they go (p.s if you're considering buying one of their systems, check their refund policy carefully)

    No i9+4080 deal?

  • Wow. Your most expensive system is about the same as Alienware R16.

    • +7

      R16 is around $4.8k and it has a 4080 with a i9-13900f and this one is $4.3k and has a 4090 with a i9-14900kf

      • -1

        True true.

The only question is warranty wise. So far I am happy with their warranty coz I use my Alienware for work (They gave me R13 to replace the constantly blue-screening R12 which I now know most likely due to defective power supply)

  • Is there anyway to make the fans on this pc doable while on idle? I get quite distracted with constant background noise while trying to study, is this something I should be worried about?

    • +1
    • Does anyone have actually experience with this case btw?

    • +1

I hate fan noise as well and it's the key reason why I built my own system rather than rely on a prebuilt.

Having said that, the program that Thiefsie linked to will go a long way in reducing fan noise by allowing you to tune custom fan curves depending on CPU/GPU temps. I use it with my PC and my PC is near silent in non demanding work. When the GPU fires up that's another story.

One thing that fan curves won't affect is PSU fans. More affordable PSUs have fans that run nonstop and drive non-fans of fans like me crazy. PSUs like the Corsair RMX series (and others) have a zero-rpm mode so that the fan doesn't spin up until a certain power draw is reached.

Case fans vary in noise levels, but I don't think even quiet fans are that expensive.

CPU coolers. I have a Noctua CPU cooler which is really quiet, I can't speak for what a liquid cooled system sounds like.

Regarding cases - I've had a 'silent' case and now I have a case without sound dampening. What I've realised is that case sound dampening is secondary to having custom fan curves and a PSU with a silent mode.

  • Hi @luketechfast

I also purchased one of your budget systems last week, I want to upgrade to one of these newer deals. How do I go about it?

    • Same here, this is a way better deal than last week's

Ordered the Boxing Day i9 4090 system fully optioned @ $5k. Reached out to them to discuss the possibility of upgrading some of the components further (at my additional cost of course). After complete lack of communication for days and days at a time, I was informed no modifications or cancellations were possible because components were already ordered and staff scheduled to complete the build. They refused to provide a phone number or call me. Disappointed, but accepting, I ordered the MSI Thunderbolt expansion card compatible with the motherboard in this deal. After being assured it was due to ship imminently, over a week later I received an email stating they don’t even have the motherboard they sold me a month ago, and can’t even provide an ETA for when they will. I will be lodging a dispute with my credit card company. Purchase at your own risk, you’ve been warned.

    Full email transcript for transparency:

    Me - 3rd of Jan

    Hey guys,

Would it possibly be too late to cancel this order by any chance?

    TechFast - 4th of Jan

    Hi Dan,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Unfortunately, we are not able to simply cancel your order at this stage.

Upon receiving an order, we immediately begin processing the order. As every PC we sell is customisable (or made-to-order), this includes ordering stock, committing staffing resources, administrative work, and other related procedures, all of which represent a cost to our business. Therefore once an order is placed we cannot accept a cancellation and offer a full refund, be it for change of mind or any other reason, without cost.
Cancellations can be handled in two ways:
    1) Order cancelled and refund issued for 75% of the total cost, 20% will be provided in the form a one time use coupon and 5% will be kept by us to cover the fees associated.
    2) Order cancelled and a credit for the full amount provided, in the form of a coupon code to use on our website at any other time. This can be used in one full amount or multiple partial amounts.

Please let me know your thoughts on this, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    Me - 4th of Jan

Cheers for the quick reply Caleb!

Any chance you guys could match this deal instead?

    \<snipped out of respect \/\>

I don’t care so much about the case or RGB. But the better RAM, mobo and GFX card.

Do you guys have a phone number that I could call for a chat?

    Me - 5th of Jan

    Hey guys,

Just following up on this one. Would love to sort this out one way or another :)

    TechFast - 5th of Jan

    Hi Dan,

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

Unfortunately, we don't have an active phone line at the moment.

We aren't able to do any price matching sorry, these systems are already quite heavily discounted.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Me - 5th of Jan

No probs man, I’m sure you guys are busy!

Yeah I understand guys, it’s ok if you guys are more expensive, but are you able to do a similar build with ASUS Strix mobo, GFX and faster RAM? Happy to pay more than PCCG if it’s a fair price :)

    TechFast - 12th of Jan @ 7:30PM (a full week later)

    Hi Dan,

Unfortunately, we don't have a phone line at this time and all inquiries are handled via email at the moment.

We aren't really able to deviate from the original configuration aside from the upgrades listed on the options in the build page.

We don't really do custom builds and all stock is based on what is available at the time, and what is mentioned on the ozbargain page.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Me - 13th of Jan

    When will it arrive approximately?

TechFast - 15th of Jan (2 days later)

    Hi Dan,

It should be shipping out this week and will likely arrive to you early-mid next week.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

TechFast - 23rd of Jan (over a week later)

    Good afternoon Dan,

I hope this email finds you well.

We are just reaching out in regard to your boxing day order placed with us.

Firstly, we would like to thank you for your patience during this busy period, and particularly after facing these delays on your order.

An update on where we are currently at with these orders. Unfortunately, these delays experienced are due to an issue with our shipment of the MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI motherboards offered with these builds. Due to circumstances outside of our control, the shipment has been delayed to us and is expected to arrive to us some time early next week.

We have been able to source an alternative motherboard, the Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX which we are expecting to receive tomorrow. If you would be happy to swap to this alternative, we can process your order with the utmost priority upon receiving the shipment of motherboards.

If you would prefer to stick with the MSI motherboard, we will process your order ASAP as soon as they arrive to us.

Due to this delay, we will be processing a refund of $50 for your order for the inconvenience.

Please let me know your thoughts on this, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

And again, thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Me - Jan 23rd @ 9:18pm

    Guys,

This whole process has been an absolute farce. I asked to cancel the order. After an absurd back and forth via email, and flat refusal to even call me, you said it couldn’t be done because you had already ordered the components and scheduled staff to build it. Then what, a month later, after I’ve already purchased an MSI thunderbolt 4 expansion card for a PC you’ve forced me to proceed with, now you’re telling me you indeed dont have stock of the motherboard and can’t even give an ETA for when you will.

At my earliest convenience I will be lodging a dispute with American Express. This is unacceptable. At this point the alternate deal I wanted to buy is now gone. So thanks for that too. Do better.

    • +7

      Are you Hamish?

      Link

      • Hahahaha, yep that’s how it feels for sure. Except at least Hamish had both a shopfront and phone number to contact them at.

    • +5

TBH you sound pretty unreasonable here. You ordered a system and then started haggling/asking for custom builds?

TF also disclosed in the original deal post that this was a preorder:

Our pre-Christmas decks are cleared and these systems are scheduled to ship from early January onwards, as suppliers with whom we've arranged this stock deliver and we produce. We anticipate strong demand and your patience is appreciated on these highly sought-after cards at these prices.

There was an unexpected delay with a source shipment and they did actually give you an ETA. Yes, their comms could have been better but hardly deserving of a CC dispute.

      • +2

Maybe he should have requested a full refund instead of a coupon before doing a cc dispute. But Dan is not unreasonable, they told him it was out of stock and that it will cost money if the part they ordered for his build are unused and then they advertised a similar build here the next day….
To be fair with to tf, I understand the no phone number available, it is more expensive than you think to always have someone available to answer the phone.

        • +1

At this point I’m just fed up. It’s been a month of back and forth with most often over a week between responses.

I mean, these systems are a lot of money. Is it unreasonable to request someone call you for a 5min chat about a $5000 purchase? It’s not exactly a case of beer.

          • @dan199: Wait, you are angry that you haven't received your boxing day deal not even 4 weeks in? And you're emailing support a week after placing the order? 🤣

I feel for Caleb and their support team..

          • +2

@dan199: Techfast is great for budget-minded buyers, but spending 5k on them? I would probably just build my own

      • +5

If by haggle you mean, politely ask if it was possible to give them more money, for a higher price than the comparable deal, then guilty as charged, I guess? I wasn’t demanding anything, was just trying to get an answer either way.

Read it again, I haven’t been given an ETA for the MSI motherboard. Only the bait and switch option of the Gigabyte a month after having already taken my $5k. I’ve already purchased the MSI Thunderbolt expansion card for the motherboard I paid for after accepting they could not modify the system because “parts were already procured and staff scheduled to build”.

The preorder said “shipping from early Jan onwards”. It’s looking like being early Feb before they’ll even have the parts.

I haven’t lodged the dispute yet. I’ve given them one last chance to contact me. I’m not holding my breath.

    • This has me worried as I also haven't had an update. Although I ordered much later than everyone else. On techfast what is the status? ready to ship?

    • +3

To me, what is interesting is that you asked if the Mobo can be switched to ASUS Strix and was given a flat no because they "don't do custom builds" and now they offered you to switch the mobo to Gigabyte which suggests they can if they wanted to but chose not to.

The refund of $50 is most likely due to more inferior motherboard anyway rather than a gesture of goodwill as they made out to be.

Customer service is a bit concerning, isn't it?

    • genuine question: Should I stick with the MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI, or opt for the Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX? Both seem very similar in terms of specifications and price.

    • +5

      Update:

Just got a call from Caleb. The current ETA for the original MSI board is next Monday, so the completed system should hopefully arrive to me in the next 1-2 weeks. Assuming that’s what plays out, then fair enough, these things happen.

He also explained they order the parts in bulk on consignment and as such don’t have standing stock of other parts that can be substituted.

      Appreciate the call Caleb 👍.

      • +1

Thanks for doing all the hard work and getting an actual timeframe for the MSI boards.

Probably helps all of us who are in a similar boat.

      • Any updates?

        • +1

Got an email on JAN 30 indicating they still haven't received the boards yet but will get them some time this week (if there are no further issues).

They also offered the option to swap to another gigabyte board (gigabyte ud ax) and $30 refund.

I opted not to swap and just wait.

          TECH FAST - JAN 30 @ 15:24

          Hi (Buyer),

I have an update for you. We've been notified that the MSI boards have finally been received at the port they arrived at, which is the cause of all of this delay. This means they will be sent to us shortly - they do need processing via the distributor and transit to us in Adelaide, but pending any further unforeseen delay this should happen this week, meaning your system will be completed shortly. The alternative I can offer you, is that we have Gigabyte UD AX boards on hand right now, which we can provide along with a $30 refund as the value between the two boards, and get your PC into build right now.

Please let me know which you'd prefer.

        • For anyone following, orders now been shipped. Woohoo!

  • Hi @luketechfast, can I ask how long this deal will last? Very interested.

  • How do people find the build quality with Techfast?

I've been a bit scared off prebuilts by Gamers Nexus reviews, but don't know what the situation is here in Aus.

    • +2

Much better than the ones on Gamers Nexus, I've had two and no problems. Would have heard about it on here if people were having build issues.

    • -3

Just saw a pre-built, on Reddit, where the 4090 was smashed in transit.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/s/g9HJ8FiZpt

    • +2

Have had 2 builds from them both still running fine and the current one I am typing on is almost if not already over 3 years old. I am due for a new one soon and still would consider a techfast built.

Each time I checked, the tf build is cheaper than I can build myself albeit could be a bit slow on delivery. Unless you must have a pc at a set date then tf is good.

Also have to keep in mind for diy, if all goes well sweet. If not, a. enjoy your time working out wtf is wrong, then b. have spare parts to prove your "theory" is correct then c. goto the computer shop (hopefully local) and prove the part is DOA. For me, I prefer to enjoy more time with family. :)

  • Hey Luke,

Placed an order a couple of weeks ago for a BD system and never received the order update email you mentioned in the deal for any outstanding orders. Any info would be good.

  • Starting to get worried on my order now looking at all the people having delays. It's only been a week for me but hoping it won't take a month

    • +1

It's probably going to be a month, but we're protected by Australian Consumer Law, which is about the best in the world. Don't stress, the laws are well and truly in our favour so if you're dissatisfied, you know where to go…

      • +2

Funnily enough I just got an update saying it's shipped. ETA from Aus post is in a week!

        • +1

I'm very glad for you, to hear this, Flintz, safe travels with AusPost!

          • @MartyMcFlea: Damn, it arrived but doesn't seem to be working. Turns on ok, fans and lights are on, but no signal to monitor. Have tried different monitor (all monitors work with my laptop), hdmi port/display port to the graphics card and mobo, but nothing. @luketechfast I've sent you a PM, email to support and online enquiry. If you could help assist that would be great thanks

            • +1

@Flintz: Hey mate have you checked all cables are connected? Specifically power to the GPU, could have come loose in shipping

              • +1

@harpsoce: Yea checked all the cables. Checked the one to the GPU. The GPU fans are spinning fine

                • @Flintz: I'm sorry to hear this, Flintz.

So you can't even see whether it's posting to BIOS yet, can you? Hmmm… If you can get in there a bit, check that the GPU is seated in the PCIE slot correctly - it may be loose there too - hopefully not damaged by AusPost…

If it's got power externally via the 6/12 pins on the side of the GPU - or whatever it's giving it power from the PSU - it could be powering the RGB and fans but if it's not seated in the PCIE slot, it may not be sending a signal to the actual Mobo. However - usually there's a light on the mobo if there are issues with anything or it screeches/beeps at you so that you don't progress any further.

Also, depending on your monitor you may need to adjust inputs manually? On my Acer Predator, I have to adjust this when I have multiple cables plugged-in. Sounds like you've done that by testing HDMI versus DP but I have noticed sometimes turning it on and off again and at worst case - getting in and pressing reset on the motherboard helps, it can be fickle and not detect a signal then I walk away, come back and it starts and the screen turns on. My computer is 6 years old though and more ghosts and goblins have snuck in over time. I also hope it's not your existing cables - if they work with other devices, they should be fine but you have to individually test every aspect of it for points of failure…

                  • @MartyMcFlea: Does it POST (motherboard beep on boot?). If not hmmm.

Make sure you try a different screen output for the GPU first also.

  • Can you guys please do a 7800xt deal on am5? Or a 3080 deal with intel? I'd sell my body to you guys if you can make it happen.

  • Would seriously consider a 5700 + 4060

  • Australia Day i9+4080 deal please. Ready to buy - but hoping it's not going to take a month to arrive.

  • Hi, does anyone know if Intel vs AMD still matters or can I pick any 4090 systems? Thanks

For gaming, pick the 7800X3D. If you do a lot of workstation tasks, go for the 14900K however.

  • What’s the brand of the H610m mobo?

    Hello giga chads,
bought an Alienware machine for flight sim, power kept clipping out we deduced it was the crap motherboard (it's inhouse made) that dell uses.
Anyone have this motherboard and a VR with any feedback?
    cheers chaps

    • post in reddit.com/r/alienware they have CS reps there

  • can i5-12400F+4060 be bought with any other cases outside the 3 listed?

any WiFi mobos? if not how bad is USB dongle WiFi in comparison? (+$39 one)

Also cant seem to pay via AfterPay/Zip seems to only be CC?

If OOS can we make similar custom deals in near future? TIA

  • Is this 4060 deal better than last week's Rx5600 $799 deal?

    • +1

I picked up a system with the 4060 and i5. It's great value and tbh at only a few $ more I'd say it's a better deal. This system comes out slightly ahead performance wise and appears the $799 is OOS now.

  • What is better value between the 5500 and 12400f?
Is the Intel system worth the extra the extra $70?

    Thanks

  • Hi Luke,
Is it feasible to ship the individual components in their original boxes rather than assembling them for me? I prefer to handle the assembly myself and enjoy the moment with my son together buidling a computer.

Is the i5/4060 pc coming back to stock anytime soon?

    • @luketechfast same here🙋

    • Not right now, still availability and pricing sharpness is in the new Super range

  • R5 4060, sold out?

    • Yep, looks like it.

  • Hi, I have a question about the 4090. I got the pc today, and got an error message booting up "USB over current status detected ! !" And not get any response from the techfast team and no way to call techfast to contact? I have checked everything so far to no avail. Slowly starting to regret this purchase. @luketechfast would really appreciate a bit of if you could get your team to get back to me as this is a system I paid over $5000 for. Cheers.

    • Just confirming the team has been in touch here.
