[VIC] Breville Oracle Touch Noir Limited Edition $3,399 @ JB Hi-Fi Nunawading

66

I saw this at JB HiFi Nunawading in VIC. This isn't exactly a deal, but if you've been wanting the murdered-out Noir limited edition of the Oracle Touch, this might be the cheapest it's been. The JB HiFi website doesn't have this particular model to link to.

RRP: $4499.00 https://www.breville.com/au/en/products/espresso/bes990.html…

The Good Guys also has this on sale, with more availability at $3499: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/breville-oracle-touch-noir-li…

A non-Noir LE Oracle Touch is $3195.00 at Harvey Norman https://www.harveynorman.com.au/breville-the-oracle-touch-co….

    lol no deal

Not even close to a deal

  • -2

    $1500 or no deal

    • it won't happen and never before had it go that low

  • +2

Even if it passed as a deal, still far too expensive for a coffee machine that makes good coffee if you do all the right things.

You can make a good coffee with a machine even below same figure less last digit, if you do all the right things lol.

      Oracle touch at office
Dual Boiler + SGP at home

Better coffee at home, especially texturing milk.

      • +2

I think the sgp is good, but I don't think you're realising the full potential of the dual boiler with that grinder.

          • +1

@xdpx: Good beans need a very nice grinder. I am using the DF64V now, after going from integrated grinder in the original Oracle to SGP. Didn't realise that the SGP was a very similar grinder to the Oracle. DF64V with Cast Lab Sweet Red Speed burrs = Yummy coffee.

            • @Sleepycat3: How do you know which burrs to get with the DF64?

The price changes alot with the burrs.

Stock Iv heard is good alone

              • +1

@ToonarmY: I have the DF64V and it is the brushless version with variable speed. The stock burrs are the DLC burrs, which are extremely good. Most beans taste better with the stock DLC burrs, but the particular beans that I drink, which are Agro Beans Columbia Supremo taste better with the Cast Lab Sweet.

The other reason I went for this set of burrs is because I could get it direct from SSP in Korea, without having to pay for shipping fees as I had someone there. Otherwise, I would stick to the stock DLC DF64V burrs.

If you have the DF64 (non-brushless), and are still on the stock burrs that came with it, I strongly recommend getting the 64mm DLC burrs. It is much cheaper than any SSP burr, and it is a very very nice set!

@xdpx: The point at which I realised that the SGP was not doing it for me, was when I had to manually adjust the conical burr to a finer setting by rotating the upper burr step to a finer setting by 2 steps, and still going all the way to the fine side of the espresso setting on the main knob. Even at that setting, I was still getting too much flow and had to resort to putting 20g of grind into a 18g basket just to slow the flow down. Later, when I was cleaning my SGP, I saw that I was pushing the burrs so closely that parts of it was likely touching together or the tolerances were too small, that I had worn down a shiny spot on the conical burrs. That was when I decided to get the DF64V.

@xdpx: My EM7000 purchased in 2015 is still limping along as well. The hot water wand failed around 4 years ago - but I rarely used that function, so no real loss.

          • @xdpx: Sorry I thought you meant Breville dual boiler, which is an excellent machine, thus needs a capable grinder.

If you had a BDB, then you'd get better shots with a better grinder that's all.

        • 100%

If you have BDB go with a DF64 or the Eureka Mignon Specialita

SGP doesn't do the BDB justice

a toyota camry gets you from A to B just as well as a lambo.

      These machines are like that.

Basically double the price of the std oracle for a touch screen

    • But can we play doom on it?

    • Yep. Breville rep told me everything else is identical inside. Literally paying for the colour screen

  • +1

Probably easier to get a dual boiler and colour wrap it yourself

    • +2

Easy now Xzibit. You don't gotta pimp that coffee machine.

      • +3

yo dawg I heard you like coffee, so i put some coffee in your coffee so you can have coffee while you're having coffee

    • I think you meant to say cheaper, not easier.

Just think how many tins of Caterers Blend International Roast that would buy….

    • Threw up a little in my mouth thinking about when the office had this.

  • +4

Works perfectly with the Aldi $11.99 beans!

  • Been using old oracle for a few years and its solid. Think got it for 1.5k

Whereas touch is an insult like, just added fancy interface for extra $1k+

    • +2

Partner is blind, and the touch is useless.. so the normal oracle is better for blind people. Most domestic home appliances that use touch are a gimmick after phones went all touch based. I'm sighted and prefer button myself as if ya talking to someone else you can control it. Gout ours before the touch existed and rocking on great.

      • +2

I would upvote this 100 times if I could.

This touch based UI nonsense has gone too far especially in cars. Having physical buttons, rotating dials, and levers is far superior for interaction when you do not have the luxury or ability to look at the controls to track feedback.

All states prohibit use of mobile phones while driving but are happy to certify the cars where changing temperature in the car requires taking eyes of the road at 100km/h.

Go a Breville BES920BSS dual boiler, great machine. Upgraded from the sunbeam 700 to this. Very happy with the steam. Always a great crema.

  • -1

The finish looks identical to black truffle. Not sure how it's LE.

  • $3300 at good guys commercial

  • Good for those who would like someone else to make their coffee for them. Load the grind and press a button.

For me, where I end up making the coffees for my family, the original "manual" Oracle or BDB makes more sense as it is more satisfying.

Take a look at the painted versions of Breville machines on eBay after a couple or years of service

They end up scratched up and chipped

I’d never get a painted machine with such a poor quality paint finish

  • -1

You can get a far more capable and sturdy machine for the same price.

Ascaso, profitec, ecm all have offerings with far more repairable machines than these consumer appliance machines that break in 2-5 years and cost half the price of the machine to fix.

Take it from someone who had a sunbeam that died in 2 years and cost 700 to fix.

Spend your money elsewhere friends. Dm me if you’d like some guidance on your coffee journey.
