Ur better off with a Dedica + $30 porta unless you're really into milk frothing.

        And not supporting Harvey

BB+ has 3 way solenoid, PID controller, Chrome group head, automatic milk frothing, Single and double wall basket, and 3 second start up TurboJet thermal block.

To get these with a Dedica you need to go for the Dedica Maestro Plus which is $400 and still using a slow thermal block design.

        • Also Dedica uses 51mm portafilter, if you get a larger basket it will bottom out, end up having to buy a bottomless portafilter as well.

It's a strange machine, lots of shortcomings, but also lots of people like it. Go figure.

          • @browser: The two aren't even in the same league, but let them bang that drum

        • How's this compare to the breville dual boiler in terms of these features?

        • 3 way solenoid, whoop di do, so now you get to use 10x as much water and have to empty the drip tray 20x more frequently bcos it redirects the supposed drips from the portafilter to the tray. And in honesty I found the Breville dripped more than the Dedica.
PID controller; I bet you don't even know what this is, and if you do know then you'll also know that while it has it, the actual temp.is not that consistent.

Dedica is smaller and has temp. settings and programmable dosing.

The only thing I can't fix and I don't like about it, is the available cup space.

          • @raybies: At the current price, I expected all these to be standard feature for a thermal block solution. That is why I think the Dedica Maestro plus a rip off for $400 without a rapid heating solution.

Original Dedica has so much problem and the Arte improved the wand but retain many old design issues. For $200 I may as well get a Sunbeam, at least that has a 58mm filter.

Breville design BB+ to have all the key feature of higher end machine in a barebone and I think it is better than many others at the same price point (old price under $400). It is not design for someone who is anal on their coffee but its fast and easy. If I am anal and picky i will just get a Gaggia EVO pro.

May be your Bambino Plus does that….

I only use the non pressurise basket, and very little water get channel to the drip tray. How I know that? Happen I have one of those that the drip tray does not align with the valve exit pipe which result in leaking if use pressurise baskets. So your statement about the 3 way solenoid is incorrect, at least not for those who is using non pressurise basket.

I need this but can't bring myself to buy fron hardly… guess I'll wait for another bargain

Still rocking my bambino (non plus) years and years later and I use it almost every day, well worth it.

  • Love my BB+ very good if you're into lates and other coffee's with milk. The + isn't necessary if you're just getting into espresso but it's nice to have

  • Great machine. I use this, plus this grinder:
    https://www.mydeal.com.au/1zpresso-jx-pro-coffee-grinder-104…

Amazing for black coffee at a low price (relatively speaking).

    • Im thinking of this grinder option due to lack of bench space. How do you rate it please?

      • If you have the cash can get Niche Zero of DF64 Gen2, heaps of fanboys for these here.

I personally don't drink espresso and cannot justify why someone would pay 1K for a grinder.

I use Smart Grinder Pro with Bambino Plus and many has this combination in OZB.

I wouldn't consider a hand grinder unless you are only making a few shots per week. Way too much hard work!!

        • cannot justify why someone would pay 1K for a grinder.

Not really up to you to justify why someone else would pay 1k for a grinder tbf

        • If you don't drink espresso, then what are you making with your Smart Grinder Pro and Bambino Plus?

          • @BlunderCat: 7 Eleven style (junk) coffee. More like a long black with milk using Aldi beans.

I have a habit having a coffee by my side when I work and if I pull a super shot latte or flat white all the time, I will sure be over dosing on coffee.

I am also extremely lazy, no way I am spending all that time fine turning flat grinders with specially coffee.

            • @syswong: I gave my dad my old smart grinder pro when I got a mazzer super jolly, it's quite fine if you use WDT to break up the clumps.
Infact he can pull comparable coffee that I do with the super jolly and my bambino plus, because of the smarts of the dual boiler

      • This is why I purchased it. It's great, but manual grinding is annoying after a while.
That said, it provides a lot of control and a great output.

For reference - I have 2 long blacks a day. Need to measure inputs and so on.
I also have this to weigh: https://www.amazon.com.au/AMIR-Espresso-Precision-Rechargeab…

        Cheap setup all things considered.

        • Great, thanks for the link. Im going for the same set up maybe with the jmax instead. Appreciate it

  • I bought this a couple of years ago from this deal. I bought the Breville Smart Grinder Pro at the same time.
    Love it!

I've used it roughly twice a day since. Very quick and easy to use, and has stopped me buying coffees each day…

    • +1

We have the same set up and same usage and have loved it over the last 18 months. Haven't had any issues

  • This and the Pro grinder, or the Barista Pro ?

    • This + varia vs3 gen 2 !! (or a baratza encore esp)

  • Did Brevile created some sort of market niche for themselves with the BB+? Its price keeps going up year over year.
Selling for 499 on TGGC now. I bought it for around 320~ 3-4 years ago.

    • Did Brevile created some sort of market niche for themselves with the BB+? Its price keeps going up year over year.

I think basically all coffee equipment went up in price during the pandemic, and it never came down again

The BB+ is a unique proposition though because there isn't really anything else with the short start up time

  • Is the stock portafiller any good or would it require an upgrade.
Is it the same diameter as the Breville Oracle or smaller?

    • Not sure about the Oracle - Bambino is a 54mm.
I replaced mine with a non pressurised basket and bottomless portafilter so I can observe the pull and watch out for channeling. NEOUZA branded off Amazon.

    • Oracle is 58mm
      Bambinos 54mm

    • Its good. Pressurized basket is more forgiving to extract a better shot.

I bought a non pressurized for my BB+, takes more time to dial in and feels like BB+ not enough Umphf to extract a proper shot

Have used almost daily for 2.5 years and its a great lil machine for quick morning coffee. 4min eta, grinding beans, pulling shot, wiping down (long black no milk)

      • New models come with both pressurised and non pressurised baskets with the BB+ now

I upgraded to a BBE portafilter, due to it having proper dual spouts, was worth the upgrade

    • New package now comes with pressurized and non pressurised baskets (at least for me it is).

54mm portafiller, strongly recommend taking the plastic bit out which will take away the ability to spilt the extraction into two cups.

  • Got an email saying order not accepted. Anyone else have the same issue?

  • Amazon selling $499, paid with discount gift card become $474.05 or get JB to price than pay with discounted GC.

  • Gf went to but a machine but NAB not only blocked the transaction, they blocked the entire card, "in case it was fraudulent".

  • Got an order delayed email 2 days ago and no further update Since then
