  • OP can you please give me an email contact for customer service. I didn’t get the 100 off from my service as part of the Black Friday deal

    • Hey to redeem your Black Friday deal, if you bought Pirelli Tyres as part of the promotion, you just need to notify the store when you make your next booking and they will apply the discount for you.

      • +1

        I did but they didn’t

        • I think $100 off is for Essential Plus Service abd may be log book service as well. Its not for basic service. Its printed on you tyre invoice. Just show them that invoice and demand you $100 off.

        • Apologies, our Care team email is [email protected], they should be able to rectify that for you.

Can I just say, that every single time I use MYCAR, they NEVER apply any of the discounts I have redeemed at the time of booking.
without me asking specifically at the time of payment, I'd have missed out on the discount.

Can you combine this with the black friday deal to get a total of $200 off a service?

  • +17

Wow $700 for a basic service on a 2l/4c ford, I'll give my money to an independent mechanic rather than a chain at that price.

    • +1

yea.. dont get duped.. whn i asked how much was a log book services.. its like way way higher thn my local mechanic even after deducting the $100.

always ask for price/quotation bfr getting anything done.

      • +2

        that's weird.

mycar quoted me 328 for a 120km service for a vw..

        nrma wanted 470..and dealer 590.

generally find them ok on most prices, only reason i really use them is i can drop it off and go to the mall and pick it up when done shoping

biggest issue is they are (profanity) retarded at time managment

they say..it be ready by 10am.. and its 2pm and still not done.

        • pls excuse my lack of the car maintenance industry. i'd think those arent really "local mechanics"..

just wondering what does your 120k km service include other thn "oil change and oil filter"?

          • @ruztynail: 120k could include spark plugs and drive belt?

In that case 328 is good. Drive belt is finicky to DIY replace.

        • Average service at Penrith for a company owned VF Commodore, overlooked basic things… not sure I would take my own car.
          YMMV….

  • Is there a minimum spend? and does it include EV?

    • yeah..

with ev go to the dealer.

not worth risking it for a logbook service.

the technicians at the dealer will be trained on the systems..most of these guys are usually just standard mechanics

    • What EV you've got that requires maintenance service?

      • +3

BYD servicing is done through Mycar.

Logbook services for certain vehicle brands, including BMW, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, MG, Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, BMW M, Tesla, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, McLaren and BYD are unable to be booked online and are excluded from this Promotion.

There is a reason Kmart Tyre and Auto had to rebrand itself to this, they were horrible and excessively expensive even for the most basic services. I took my car there once and what was supposed to be a $300 service ballooned out to $600 without any specific explanation why or at least confirming beforehand why.
Literally take your car anywhere else and it will come out cheaper and you will actually get proper work done on it.

That's because your tyres made a clunking sound so you needed the whole Road King package …

      • Username checks out. 😂

    • +1

Well, they had to rebrand because they were sold.
Not that I don't disagree with how overpriced they are.

  • +1

agree with service being overpriced. they quoted more that the dealer for my car.

  • +1

Never again with mycar / kmart.

  • With the 12-month free roadside assistance, am I automatically signed up and is there no paperwork? I wasn't given any reference or membership welcome details for the roadside assistance when I had my service done. Mycar told me to just call roadside assistance when I need one. I was doubtful about it…

    • +3

Same thing. They dont give paperwork. I called their roadside. They confirmed the vehicle by rego that it was already in the system and had the service date as the start date so all good.

  • Still more expensive than everywhere else after the $100 off, no deal

$560 for a basic service for my Captiva no thanks, midas is under $200

Drive to QLD and find some flood waters. Thank me later.

The mycar I asked for logbook servicing left the oil stick in last time round. Ended up costing me more just to repair the damage. Can't even do an oil change right. Avoid.

    • We got them to replace a boot latch on our Skoda. Gave it back to us and it gave up the ghost within a few months. Took it back and it apparently needed to be "calibrated" -> (profanity) the calibration so it had to go back again. Finally got it right on the third attempt fixing it.
TBH, I'm not sure I'd recommend them either after that…

  • I just checked for my VW CC, and it said they would change the oil filter and top up oils and fluids. Note, this is NOT an oil change.

$440 sounds like a fair price, however if all they are doing is an oil filter change, fluids top up and diagnostic check then it's pretty poor.

  • +3

My last mycar service they cracked a spark plug and left my car running rougher than before it came in. I'd avoid.

  • They put two tyres on backwards, and didn't return my lug nut key to the glove box so I couldn't even fix it myself.

  • +3

Last time I went to mycar there was water in the engine when I got it back, then they charged $1200 to rectify their own fault. I would avoid, $100 off is really not worth it.

  • Is there any reason to bring my car for service at 3rd party companies like this rather than to my car dealership?

    • Depends on how old the car is and what your longer term intention is to keep it.

Dealer for factory work including recalls. Mechanic for routine maintenance past 2 years ownership.

  • $100 off but they will just slug you with random stuff for more than $100.

  • I find them pretty good. $139 for a service not bad.

  • +4

I saved $300 thanks to these guys. The last time they quoted $380 for just oil and filter change for my wife's car so that was the motivation for me to do it myself and saved $300 😊. In the end I even changed the battery, air filter and cabin filter and it still didn't cost $380 in total!

  • Just noticed on the website, it charges me $380 - $280.

Ford service center charges under $300 with free hire car for the same service.

Autoguru - $250 for the exact service through their website and has $50 off at the moment making it $200 at Mycar.

I can take screenshots, I advise people to check mycar vs Autoguru Mycar as an option.
