Currently the add to cart seems to be a bit glitchy, but can chat with an advisor to order at 9am or sooner if they fix the add to cart before then, pretty good price considering it's cheaper than the US MSRP + 10% GST.

I think I’ll wait for the MSI non curved $950 USD one

    • +2

MSI’s RRP has never translated well here, they’ve always been above and beyond the most expensive version.

The one to look out for is the Samsung variant, especially with the deals that we got last year on the G9 OLED

      • +1

        Sammy has matte screen tho?

        • We haven’t seen exactly how ‘matte’ it is yet, it’s the same coating on the new S95D. Personally I hate the raised blacks issue so if this prevents that I’m all for it

        • Yeah I believe the ASUS is one of the only ones that aren’t and comes glossy!

          • +1

@TheGman101: nah the ROG one is matte too - reviewers released that the show demo one had a protective film on it that made it look gloss! lol

          • @TheGman101: Actually just seen they’ve got 2 models - with the LG WOLED I was talking about above, the other with the QD Oled (glossy)!

    • Isn't this already out for purchase in australia? It's 2.2k. MSI overseas pricing is a scam

  • What are the positives and negatives for this monitor?

Been on the look out for this or the previous one

    • +8

Positive - best overall specs of a gaming monitor that exist.

Negative - Several similar models releasing soon that might be a little better. Several reported firmware issues that might never be fixed.

    • There is no line out for audio, Earc hdmi is the only option for audio out.

      • If you are referring to lack of 3.5mm out, why would anyone using a $1,900 monitor want 3.5mm out?
I would hope anyone spending this much on a display has the sense to use some sort of external DAC, whether it be a little headphone amp or a home theatre receiver.

        • It’d be mainly to use their audio device with multiple inputs

        • +2

I for one want to use a ps5 and an xbox along side my pc, how am I meant to get sound from my consoles? A line out would fix that!

          • -4

@Austax: Receiver. If you can afford this display, you can afford a decent sound system.
Sound is just as important visual.

If you have to use headphones then I appreciate that makes it a bit more comple (without buying a receiver solely for headphones).
I'm not sure if there are any headphone DACs with HDMI in. If there are not, a simple solution would be an HDMI audio extractor.

            • +2

@O15: If you care about your sound you’re not using a receiver for a 2.1 setup. Stereo amps with eArc are more expensive than they should be.

They’ll also be plenty wanting to use it with active speakers too

        • I'm that guy.

    • +14

      Pro: It's OLED

      Con: It's OLED

  • Was hoping to be an early bird for this one but the cart glitch has ruined that.

    Anyone had any success?

    • Wait till 9am place order through chat

      • +1

I got the student discount using a Gmail address lol. Thanks friend.

        • Wait how

  • +9

@muzeeb what can you do for us?

    • +1

Muzeeb is in the history books now

  • Watch out for those foam packaging residue left on the screen, apparently should be able to clean off using distilled water + microfibre cloth, but some say no matter what they've done it doesn't come off and had to be returned.

  • Is $1889 the standard retail price here? Or is this some kind of preorder discount?

  • +1

    Rrp gonna be $2099

  • +1

damn, what do you need to run this baby at 240 hz 4k….

    • +15

      6090ti super titan

    • +1

Depends on the game and video settings

      CS2 / Valorant. Probably as low as a 2080
Cyberpunk full raytrace overdrive ultra no dlss, 6090 or beyond.

Personally waiting to see competition or wait for the new gen QDOled panels (gen3) aka next gen

      • +4

AW3225QF is 3rd Gen QD Oled

  • +3

Hmmm, this or the Aldi one on clearance from yesterday 🤔

    • +2

This, because you won't be able to find stock for the Aldi one

  • +1

Ordered. Got the student price, thanks OP

    • hv u received the unit? keen to hear any any early reviews/thoughts?

  • +3

Almost bought one but last second googling revealed there seems to be some QC issues so will hold off for now… e.g.: https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/1aedaqr/how_di…

  • How bright does this oled panel get? Comparable to an LG OLED TV?

    • Brighter on full screen bright stuff - roughly 250nits vs 150nits on the LG, but will be slightly dimmer for HDR highlights

  • +2

    This is a dream monitor… 240Hz… 4K… OLED

Does it have Matte or Gloss?

    • +1

It’s glossy with a AR coating

      • Perfect!

        • +3

While it’s quite good, it’s not a perfect coating. When they’re in a lit room, the blacks turn grey on these, I prefer LG’s coating

  • Any feedback on the 27inch variant? Better to wait later in the year for other releases?

  • This could be exactly what ive been looking for. Was considering one of the new LG 42" 2024 OLEDs, but was concerned 42" would be slightly too large. 34" might be great, and with a higher refresh rate.

  • +1

240Hz 4k! What graphics card will you need ? something like a 4090 to run that to its potential?

    • +3

      RTXXX 6090

  • +4

There's a bunch of monitors using the same panel being released over the next few months so if you're not sure I would personally hold off.

    • +1

Aorus and MSI never price their monitors competitively here, so that only really leaves Samsung that are chucking a matte coating on theirs

      • +1

        Also HP and Asus.

You're right in that this (the Alienware) is probably going to be on the lower end although I suspect the lower MSI model will be similar.

The LG panel is also scheduled for Q3ish (although maybe also with a gross matte finish).

    • +3

Dell has the best burn in warranty in the industry though, with my aw3423dw they shipped a replacement in a day and organised a return afterwards, who knows what the other manufacturers would do

      • They have the best official warranty sure, but LG replaces their OLED TV’s 5 years out of warranty here in Australia. Not sure if that would carry across to their monitors though

        • Likely because the LG C and G-series OLED TVs have a statutory consumer guarantee that outlasts the standard warranty. However, if LG honour the statutory consumer guarantee without needing to argue/fight for it, that is unusual and definitely a +1 to LG.

  • 4x better than the G3223Q 4k IPS 144Hz offers from June 2023?

    • +1

For gaming and content consumption, yes.

    • maybe it's better, but I am happy with G3223Q from that deal, for productivity and gaming alike

  • Also eligible for $47.90 Dell Rewards.

  • +5

When 32” OLEDs get better text clarity Im interested

    • +8

Its the 3rd Gen panel, its 90% better then previously.

  • I work from home (documents, emails, online meetings).

Is OLED burn-in risk still an issue with these new monitors?

    • +2

Yes if you primarily work, be prepared to deal with a panel replacement about two years in (what happened with my aw3423dw), however these panels are supposedly more burn in resistant but that is to be tested

    • Burn-in is still a significant risk if you're using the monitor daily for office/productivity. I'd get a cheaper IPS display for office work, and mount it on a monitor arm so you can swing it out of the way when you want to play games on the OLED monitor.

  • Is it worth upgrading from my Dell Ultrasharp UP3216Q

  • Waiting for the flat G8 or the updated G9 from Samsung, disappointed they didn't specify a launch window

    • Disappointed they went with matte screen vs current g8 UW gloss

  • +1

    16:9 curve, no thanks.

I got the 34 inch OLED and don't understand the text issue? its perfectly fine as in I cannot tell the difference from previous monitors. Some people just parrot what they read online without actually auditioning things for themselves.

The ONLY con to OLED is the pixel refresh you need to do and caretaking you have to do (taskbar hide, and blank screen saver)

    • I definitely notice it. I found my previous Lg 38 and Dell 3415w are better for productivity

I was actually tempted to return it, but generally the monitor is very nice and it was a step up for gaming.

I don’t know if I’d make the same call now though, really miss my 38

  • There's no reason for it to be curved

    • +1

      Will match my johnson

  • will wait for 20% off rate from JB or Amazon

    • More like +20%

  • Thanks OP!

  • -1

No thanks. $1889 is not cheap

    • +1

Ah, but is it a bargain

  • +1

I recommend to get an LG 42 OLED instead when they go on sale. $1.1k I think was the lowest.

    • +3

Too big for most desks. Plus the refresh rate isn't amazing.
It's really a TV that most people have adopted as a gaming monitor.

      • I've been using one for past 3-4 months. It's been amazing but the desk I have can fit it at the moment. 120hz is plenty fast

      • you are right. I had to get use to the size. I can play RDR2 on it comfortably now. For work it is very good (multitasking)
I can't get to 120 fps so it is still ok in the short to medium term.

    • +1

$995 click & collect was actually the cheapest for the LG C2 42":
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/764279

That was an amazing deal and it's proven to be a fantastic gaming display, I absolutely love mine. I still maintain that it's absurd that most 4K OLED gaming displays cost almost twice the price of the smallest OLED TV.

Yes, it's "only" 4K/120Hz, but most people won't have the hardware to drive much higher framerates than that for the time being anyway. 120Hz VRR works like a dream.

      • While I agree with you on the price disparity, I personally find it absurd that people are using 42 inch TV's as monitors. So I guess it isn't an apples to apples comparison.

        • +1

You'd think so, but you get used to it pretty quickly if you can sit a bit far back. I'm sitting about 1 metre back and its fine

  • Is this RRP?

  • You need a edu email as it send the code to your email address dissapointing as i dont have a edu email anyone know a way around this ?

    • +2

Nope, you put in a random edu email and it will generate a code on the next screen.

Do something like [email protected] and change the numbers around.

Update - Nevermind looks like they changed the process, it was working earlier this morning.

Here's two codes I got earlier this morning, if anyone wants to try them.

Students get a discount cause they are broke, right? Then shell out $1900 on a monitor that also requires a high spec PC to run 😂

  • Curved is a fail for 16:9
