10W Output Power: With a high energy density of 0.07mm0.13mm/0.06mm0.06mm focal spot, it can achieve speeds of up to 25,000 mm/min without compromising quality. This makes it capable of engraving or cutting a wide range of materials, including wood, bamboo, leather, kraft paper, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Large Engraving Area: The machine also features a generous engraving area of 400 x 400 mm /15.75x15.75 inches, giving you the creative freedom to take on large projects or engrave multiple pieces at once. Plus, its height-adjustable laser head and adjustable risers enable you to engrave objects of different heights with ease.
Smoke Filtering Exhaust: To ensure a clean and safe work environment, the laser head is equipped with a smoke exhaust filter and dual cooling fans that effectively absorb fumes and dust generated during engraving. The filter cartridge has a detachable cover for easy filter removal and replacement.
Multiple Operation Methods: The ELEGOO Phecda laser engraver offers multiple operation methods for your convenience. You can control the machine via a mobile App for remote WIFI operation and custom engraving (your phone must be connected to the machine's wifi), transfer data using a USB cable or TF card, and it supports LightBurn and LaserGRBL software for added flexibility.
Magnetic Shading Plate: One standout feature of the Phecda is its translucent magnetic shading plate. This innovative structure shields your eyes from harmful UV light and can also function as a laser filtering see-through cover to observe the light spot engraving track. Additionally, it doubles as a smoke collection device, improving the efficiency of the smoke filter. For even more safety, the machine comes with goggles to protect your eyes.

  • Not many reviews. Wonder if any good?

From what I read it's a good entry level machine to dabble in.

Shy of spending more on a xTool D1 - this is a good way to see if you're really into such a hobby.

This is ozb. Buy now. Regret later.

It'll do until you can upgrade to a $5,000 machine. Charge $50 to "laser engrave dress shoes" and it'll pay for itself in no time.

Hang on, one of the example photos is a… large tumbler? How?

    • Looks like one of the more expensive options has an addon to rotate the object being engraved.

Do not buy this (or anything like it) unless your willing to research laser safety
(and they you won't buy it because you will see how dangerous they are)

    Unenclosed lasers are very dangerous
At minimum you want high quality laser safety glasses (in right nm band)
and somewhere the fumes are well ventilated and won't set fire to anything.

I second this! It's scary how many people have these inside the house without all the appropriate safety measures in place. Imagine blinding or killing your family pet with one of these, or even blinding one of the occupants of your house! And that's before even considering the toxic fumes these things generate. I know it's not OzB place to handhold people, but the dangers of these things must be made aware to all prospective buyers!

    • Has smoke filter exhaust and safety shield and comes with safety glasses.

That filter is no where near sufficient
and no way I would trust the included glasses, seen multiple accounts of included glasses being either completely useless, wrong wave length etc
Proper laser glasses are often $80-300

        eg https://www.lasersafetyglasses.com.au/lg-005-532-nm-455-nm-4…

Included glasses are green (as pictured) which suggests wrong wavelength if they even provide any protection

macmanluke is 100% right here, for anybody that wants a quick primer on why they can be dangerous, makers muse on youtube did a video on the topic (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9hIXT8DMUU)

Disclaimer: I haven't used a laser engraver/cutter, looked into them in the past and noped out of there as the cheap ones were too dangerous.

A second observation on this unit: 10W is underpowered so it probably won't cut well (if at all). At least it comes with some kind of shield built in, most Chinese ones are completely open air. But that said, a laser engraver/cutter can easily cause a fire, some materials can release highly dangerous gases when cut/engraved and the lasers are often in a spectrum you can't see, but can blind you instantly if it somehow got reflected into your eye.

So yeah, don't buy anything like this without knowing exactly what you are in for.

Edit: As for Elegoo, I own several of their products. The Saturn 3 Ultra which is extremely well made and is considered one of (if not the) best consumer SLA printer. And a Neptune 4, which is decently made for a cheaper FDM printer, but with lots of firmware issues. This said, I wouldn't blindly put my trust in them as a company for a product that has the potential to be this dangerous.

    • Well that's no fun! But also, thanks.

  • any cnc machine deals? dad cant stop talking about them since i got my 3d printer, so thinking i treat the fker

  • Agree with some above comments. Was in the process of building a laser engraver. Got all parts including laser. After reading more about it decided to put back in the box and see if I can use it another time. Young kids as well and wouldn't be safe. Even though would be in garage. Just a moment for them to go out and being curious. Just wouldn't forgive myself if something happened. Cool things though.
