Choose from 30000 extra Velocity points of 200 status credits when you sign up for a points credit card with a fee until 31 March 2024.

How to unlock this offer:
First, choose your exclusive benefit (30,000 bonus Points OR 200 Status Credits) by 31 March 2024. Be sure to choose wisely because once your choice is made you will not be able to change it.
Then, apply for a Velocity Points earning credit card with an annual fee by 31 March 2024.
Be approved for your chosen card and meet the minimum spend criteria as specified by the provider.
Your chosen benefit will then be applied to your Velocity account after the minimum spend criteria as specified by the provider is met.

You will be able to receive this exclusive benefit if you are approved for the card and meet the minimum spend criteria of the bonus Points offer provided by the Issuer for that particular card.

The bonus Points offers currently available for each card with an annual fee are as follows:

    Experience with 'Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card':
    1) Minimum spend met a few days after card activation
    2) General spend points 'VELOCITY POINTS - VIRGIN MONEY CARDS' received at end of period when first statement generated
    3) First part of 30,000 points 'FLYER 60K OFFER' received at end of period when first statement generated
    4) Bonus 30,000 points 'All in Campaign Feb 24 30k bonus Points' received at end of period when first statement generated

    So from meeting the minimum spend, it was a few weeks wait due to suspected alignment to the billing cycle.

    I never understand how to best use the velocity points for flight bookings. I generally convert it to gift cards, which I guess not the best way to use the points.
    I am not that frequent flyer but whenever I try to look for flights for my travel plan, I won't find reward flights for the dates or routes and also not the cheapest option.
    I mostly end up booking flights using other portal like trip.com etc. with the cheapest option available.

    If I have enough points, can I book flights for my whole family or only can book for myself? Also when transferring the points from your bank reward points to velocity, how long it takes?

      When booking flights you need to look for ones that say reward seats are available, not all dates will have a reward seat and sometimes there won't be enough for the number of people you want to fly with.

      If there aren't any reward seats you can normally still buy with points but the points cost is 2-3x as much so its up to you to decide if its worth burning the points or spending cash instead.

      Your experience pretty much sums up what its like to use points for flights. Flexibility is key.

      Transfer time from CC points to FF points depends on the bank.

    200 bonus SC I to my account, the day after my first virgin money statement was issued. Very efficient Virgin. PS this was my second Virgin Money CC/promo, cancelled my account 2 months ago when I had hit spend and gotten my 60,000 virgin points.

    Saw this promo and opened the same card again, no issues at all!

    I cancelled my card from the November promotion on Australia Day. Signed up for this promotion on Feb 18 and received bonus points today. If anyone was having doubts about stand down periods.
    It was about 3 weeks to be a new customer again. If only every card was like that

    Does virgin money still give away bonus 5k if you provide the docs within a day after they call you?

    Also, is the 31 mar cutoff for the approval or application?

      Yes they offer bonus points.
      I went through the application process but did not upload my payslips at the end. Within about 2 hours I received a call from Virgin Money saying if I submit my documents, 5000 Velocity points will be credited to my account within 90 days.

      I believe you must receive the official email titled: "NAME, your Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card application is approved!" before 31st March to get your exclusive benefit.

      I think it's for approval based off the wording in the [email protected] confirmation email after you choose your benefit -

      To be eligible to receive the choice of 30,000 bonus Velocity Points or 200 Status Credits (each an ‘Exclusive Benefit’), you must:
      (a) be a Velocity Frequent Flyer member,
      (b) make your selection of the Exclusive Benefit by visiting here between 12:01am (AEST) 12 February 2024 and 11:59pm (AEST) 31 March 2024 (“Promotion Period”) (prior to the card application) and receive a confirmation email to the nominated email address in your Velocity Frequent Flyer account,
      (c) after receipt of the confirmation email, during the Promotion Period, successfully apply for any card featured on the Velocity Points Earning Credit Card page that has an annual card fee (the American Express Velocity Escape Card is not eligible for this promotion), and
      (d) be approved for the card applied for during the Promotion Period and meet the minimum spend criteria for the eligible offer associated with the individual card if the application is successful.

        To me that reads as being approved for the card, the one you applied for during the promotional period

        If it had a comma after applied for, I think it might mean what you think

    Anyone apply for a card after selecting the bonus, but forgot to wait for the confirmation email? Applied and got approved for the card after selecting bonus but email came through a few hours later. I tried to call velocity and Amex to make sure the offer was connected to the account but felt like they all knew nothing..

      Same boat, that’s super sneaky that you have to wait for an email. It should just be from when you click select the bonus. It literally links you to apply for the card straight after selecting the bonus.

      But maybe it’s still coming through, only just received my regular card bonus points..

        I don't think there's anything sneaky going on. The Terms and Conditions are pretty clear which Virgin could technically use to cover themselves.

              @AppleSauce2ooo: Mine have come through now - on the same day I received the second Amex statement so about five weeks after receiving the bonus points in my case. It didn't say anything on my statement about the 30k Velocity offer. It looks like they did come from Velocity directly.

    Got my first Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card statement saying I earned the 30,000 points from the card promo around 5 days ago. It's been paid off immediately, but no points showing in my Velocity account. My understanding is that I should be receiving 60,000 bonus points after the first month (30k from virgin money card min spend bonus + 30k from velocity new card bonus)?

    Does anyone know how long it usually takes to land?

      Seems to be taking a few days to show up.

      Statement received and fully paid last week, points just showed in velocity today but dated last week.

      This is my second month so time to close it.

    Did anyone get the 120k Velocity points Amex Platinum deal and also get 30k points from this? I'm wondering if because that's a "targeted" deal that's why some of us haven't gotten our 30k points. It's been 33 days since I received the bonus 120k points.

      I don’t think velocity can find out whether you got Amex 100k or 120k offer. As bonus points and points for the first few week’s spend are all transferred at once. I also applied for the 120k and the first lot of points only landed in velocity account on 20 Apr. Judging by the comments I may have to fight for the 30k.

        Mine came through on the same day I received the second Amex statement so about five weeks after receiving the bonus points in my case. The Velocity app says to wait six weeks though Velocity chat told me 30 days.

    Received my 70,000 points from this Westpac deal after meeting the spend criteria. I received the 30,000 bonus points the same day. If it helps anyone, I activated this offer after I was approved for the credit card, so I'm glad I still received the points.

    Got my 30K and 200 status points about 5 business days after the statement.

    Now have Gold status despite only flying with Virgin twice over the past 12 months, as I got the previous 250 status deal less than a year ago.

    I need to stall the credit of my 200 Status Credits because my Review Date is 19 May.

    My 2nd statement will be issued on 07 May and I'm waiting to add the final spending to the card just so the SCs are not credited.

    If I leave to hit the target in the 3rd statement I don't make the cut, right? Since it will surpass the 3-month mark from card approval.

    Do you guys know if I spend the remaining amount to hit the goal after 19 May and pay my statement in advance (before it being processed) will I make the cut? Just afraid it won't work :(

    I have dropped the ball on this. According to T&C point 4 - it says the following:
    (d) be approved for the card applied for during the Promotion Period and meet the minimum spend criteria for the eligible offer associated with the individual card if the application is successful.

    Although I did apply on 30th March 24, due to it being the long weekend I did not get approved until 02nd April 2024. They are saying as a result I won't be eligible for the offer.

    I know I should have read the T&C more carefully but I have politely requested them to escalate and requested to make an exception.

    If anyone has any advice, it will be appreciated.

        I spoke on the phone, first 2 people had no idea what I was talking about. After a few transfers they finally put me through someone and he said I can't get it. Then he spoke to someone else and said the same thing. And the I requested the escalation.

        I also send a message via app and they sent an email saying I won't get it.

        On another note, I got my statement last Thursday with 30K points, it still hasn't come to my Velicity account. My experience so far with the card hasn't been that great. Definitely will close after I get the points.
