I did not know this was a thing. Instant pop-up mandatory industry!

      Nanny-statism at its worst.

    • It's been rolling out in stages. All pools built before June 1994 had to submit compliance in 2022. Pools built between 1994 and 2010 had to submit in 2023. This is the final stage with all remaining (built from 2010 onwards).

Pools built after 2020 have to submit within 30 days of completion.

I believe there's also re-compliance every 5 or 6 years but could be wrong on that.

      • Pools and spas constructed (or where construction commenced) before 1 November 2020
        Pool/spa construction date

Compliance certificate must be lodged by

        On or before 30 June 1994, 1 June 2022

        From 1 July 1994 until 30 April 2010, 1 June 2023

        From 1 May 2010 until 31 October 2020, 1 June 2024

And this need to be done every 4 years.

  • I actually hired this company to do my pool when I previously lived in Rowville and had no issues at all. Some places were charging the $300 - $400

  • Please check the regulation regarding pool Fence registration and compliance certificate on VBA website

  • Total Savings of $150

Not quite correct. It should be:
Total Savings of up to $150

    If they don't need a re-inspection, there would never be a $100 re-inspection fee

    • You are right. But from our experience after completing 2100 pool/spa fence inspection within last 2 years, 95% pool/spa fence needs a re inspection.

        How serendipitous.

When i had my pool fence inspected last year, i did due diligence and checked all the parameters against the legislation…and i didnt need a re-inspection as my fence and surrounds were totally compliant.
it is not difficult to do before hand.
your claim of 19 out of 20 need a re-inspection seems a bit high to me..
That said, you are offering a good price for the inspection as i paid more.

This nanny-state-ism made my father pay thousands to erect some ridiculous higher boundary fencing and new gates on his pool. Such a crock. Yes the standards have changed (and I am aware of them - in the biz), but protecting internally from a neighbours boundary fence to 1.8m tall when the rails are WITHIN your side is a total stretch. Hinges being climbable at 15-20mm protrusion is also bullsh*t.

My dad just props the gate open nonetheless. Sigh. Yes I don't like this and I have young children.

Total pop-up industry with scare mongering replete from the council etc.

** I have no ill regard for the company posting this. Good on them for making a deal I guess. They'll get cash out of it without doubt to rectify something non-compliant - as noted in comment above - the new standards are a reach that no one who was prior fully-compliant, will be compliant now… Just BS punishing homeowners for bad parenting.

  • So do you need a fence and a $200+ inspection for an inflatable temporary pool? Seems a little nuts if you do but also if you don't.

    • A lot of council's require evidence of compliance if the pool is kept up for 48 hours or longer. Anything deeper than 300mm requires compliant fencing
