I found an 8% Discount Code for the WLtoys V949 RTF from a forum post.

As I had flown my V949 for a couple of days, I'm extremely pleased with it as it had turned out to be a great flying toy. The 8% discount makes the quad really attractive, and the cost savings could be used for buying extra batteries!

Happy flying!

I can't seem to be able to edit my submission so I'll state the price here: AUD45.96

I don't normally buy Ainol, but when I do, I buy it from BangGood.

  • Looks better than those other stupid beetle ones. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/83056

Any idea how the v949 compares to the v929.

I'm over flying the Syma inside, how have you found this outside with slight winds.

    Wont flip ? http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1758501

Mentions that even with the Turnigy radio full flipping isn't working.

  • Just bought one… Ozbargain force pulled me into it. Lets see !!
Anyways it was kind of the cheapest popular quad copter so no issues

  • Is the radio frequency selectable on these? I would like to buy them for Christmas for nephews and son - it'd be a hoot for them all the play them at the same time.

    • Ah - saw that it is 4 channel. Bought 3 for $123.78 ($41.26 each)

If you're thinking the 2.4GHz wireless communication system is like the toy-grade infrared remotes with channels "A" "B" "C" to choose from, then you're in for a pleasant surprise! The use of the 2.4GHz spectrum is much better than infrared as microwave is not affected by sunlight, does not require line of sight, and it has a longer range.

But take note of the additional aileron channel. It make controlling the craft more difficult.

  • BangGood?

It's preferable to a bad one.

  • Finally made up my mind to buy one of these.
Will buy one when I get home.

  • does anyone know if this will carry a gopro?

50 minutes charging to 10 minute flying,

    • It can only carry a keychain camera or tiny FPV system. I'm quite sure your GoPro is too heavy for the quad. Even if the quad manages to lift off the ground, the excessive weight will cause instability that leads to the inevitable wobble of death.

There are some Youtube videos of aerial shots taken from a V929, the elder brother of the V949. Some videos are really impressive.

  • What would someone recommend for a beginner - a helicopter (V911) or a Quad (V949) ?

Which one is better - WLtoys or Syma or any other ?

    • When trimmed correctly, the WLtoys V911 will be much easier to handle than the V949. The flybar stabilises the helicopter so the inexperienced flyer has one less thing to worry. To fly the V949 (which does not have self-stabilising mechanisms), the flyer has to be aware of the quad current flight path, and apply the necessary counter-movements to keep the quad in the desired position. The large size of the V949 can also be pretty scary to a beginner.

I've not flown a Syma but I believe the WLtoys V911 is the first step into the hobby.

  • Has anyone that ordered this had a shipment notification yet?

  • Arrived today, one of the attached props was badly bent ootb, had to use one of the spares.

I have been mucking around with it for quite some time now and I just can't get the thing to take off and hover, all it wants to do is flip over immediately. I have tried all the trim adjustments, even pushing the controls hard over in the opposite direction to the flip doesn't prevent it.

Ugh… sick of it already, frustrating the crap out of me.
