@Jono 777 Longevity would be my biggest bet, odds on the bowl will convex after a short period of time so when you fill it level there will be less rice in the middle and less water available to cover it.

I had a cheaper rice cooker (Kambrook I think) that went this way, my current more expensive Panasonic rice cooker has gone that way now too but over the course of a couple of years use.

Thanks mate, didn't think about longevity. Appreciate the help!

  • Is there a hack to purchase this deal without paying for Costco?

    • Have someone that has Costco membership get you a gift card. Anyone with a Costco Gift card can access Costco, and you don't have to pay with that gift card.

      • Even online?

"Shop Cards can only be purchased in a warehouse by current members.

At this point, Australian cards can only be used in Australian warehouses, excluding all fuel stations, food court self-serve kiosks and any eCommerce transactions."

  • This is 129.99 in store, i bought it this morning. fantastic cooker.

Pro tip: add an extra cup of water. i cooked 3 cups of rice, and filled water to the 4 cup line. im cooking jasmine rice. came out perfect, soft, and fluffy.

i also tried 3 cups of rice with 3 cups of water and it isn't as good. not so soft and fluffy as adding that additional cup of water. ymmv

  • I want a silicon rice spoon so it doesn't scratch the Teflon over time (or melt like one of my old plastic ones did when it was left in once) .. surprisingly I can't seem to find one.

    • Googling "silicone rice spoon" gives plenty of options

      • Too stupid to know what a eugooglely was…

  • If you're going to spend up on one of these, don't get a dedicated rice cooker, get a pressure cooker like the tefal cook4me, produces rice just as good as a premium rice cooker, but way more versatile and powerful.

    • Considered it…But does it keep it warm for a day or two?

Pressure cookers cook a lower quality rice, Cuckoo even say this in their Induction Heat pressure Cooker manuals (the one I have)
They say to use Pressure only to shorten time, but be aware that the trade off is lower quality. For the 2.5 cups i nomrlaly cook, it drops the cook time form 24 mins to 18, I have never bothered to save 6 mins, one day I might.

  • I wish I had a Costco membership :/
