With AOC, you get cheaper price, but not eligible for $160 GC.

      Apple education store $1849 (+ a $160 gift card) : $1689
      Apple AOC store: $1775.40

The Amazon and OW pricing was all based on the fact that JB's had 10% Apple computers. I got the email from them at 630am (AWST) on Friday.

I was waiting for this. I called the OW number and got them to price match, the OW price was $1897 at the time, and the price got down to $1709.05. Later in the day I got a text saying the MM was ready for collection.

I went to the store, returned for a refund, and then repurchased using my 15% Ultimate gift cards I had from last September (I think). Purchase price - $1452.69. Happy with that!

My only fear is that the March Apple event will unveil new M3 MM's at a cheaper price.

    • upgrades between m1>m2 etc are only negligible no?

I am still using a m1 with no speed/reliability issues

    • A month period for free return if they're launched in Mar but someone said in Oct or pro model will be in 2025 because of 2yrs gap needed.

    • How did you know the price wouldn’t change when you re-purchased?

    • Why couldn't you just price beat from OW and make the purchase using the ultimate gc? Why have to return and re purchase?

      • What I mean was if the new mini launch in Mar with better price, you can return yours and get refund for purchasing the new one.

        • Even from OW? ie. Not directly through Apple?

      • I couldn't buy in store as there weren't any in stock at any stores in Perth, plus the price would have changed to be under the JB's one.

When I called up for the price match I couldn't make the purchase over the multiple $500 cards, so I just used my normal debit card. It was the lady on the phone who said I could ask for the store Manager, in the store where I was picking up from, ask for a return and then re purchase (at the price match price) using my Ultimate gift cards.

So, I calmly asked for a Manager when picking it up, explained the phone call and she was more than happy to accommodate.

    • My only fear is that the March Apple event will unveil new M3 MM's at a cheaper price.

The price point will probably either the same or slightly more expensive (the USD AUD exchange rate is slightly worse now than when the M2 Mac Mini came out). Potentially there might be slightly better specs (besides just the CPU) for the new model, but maybe not.

      • Yeah, you're probably right. For what I'm doing though the difference between the M2 pro and M3 pro won't matter that much.

    • My only fear is that the March Apple event will unveil new M3 MM's at a cheaper price.

Thats almost a guarantee - although the way they configured the m3 pro vs the m2 pro i dunno if it really matters.

The Mac Studio on the other hand I would definitely wait, as the m3 max is a big upgrade over the m2 max.

16GB RAM is a killer (for me) for a device that is otherwise a really good long-term machine. That said, for most people this is probably a great pick-up.

(The machines differ a lot — the M2 completely lacks upgradability, for one — but for what it's worth I'm currently in the process of putting my 2012 Mac mini back into service; it was already my daily driver for many years, and has served a couple of different functions since. I think now it will be my server.)
