Why are so many android TVs still on v9, is that all they can run with sub par processors?

  • +2

Any pick up options in QLD?

    Sony? ❌
    Sonic? ✅

    • +5

      Palsonic?
      Panaphonic?

  • @soniqaustralia

I recently dug out my old E55S14A 55 inch tele to put in a spare room, and the remote is long lost. Y'all want 50 odd bucks for a universal remote that works with it, I could find it elsewhere for about 25, any chance of a deal on those? ;)

    • +5

      universal remote

Get one at Kmart for $12

  • +13

I'll immediately buy another $299 Soniq 55" Non-Smart 4K TV if you bring it back again

    • Same, moving house and non smart 4k tv will be blessing as a 2nd TV.

  • +3

I'd buy one if delivery to Qld was available

  • Who has experience with this brand? I am wanting one to use for ps5 gaming and occasional AFL viewing. I didn't want to shell out a fortune.

As it will be hooked up to a ps5 I am not concerned with the android function.

word was that soniq was such a shit brand JB hifi stopped carrying them

      • That's what I was afraid of

      • +5

Soniq is a great budget brand. Who knows why jb stopped selling them. But considering they replaced them with ffalcon, clearly improving quality wasn’t it.

      • +2

Well yes but it was more to do with the fact they became too expensive for what they were worth and JB wasn't able to make much per sale.

With these kinds of things, it's a race to the bottom and they found someone who was able to do it cheaper.

    • Our 43?" is over 5 years old. I'm watching it now. It's our kitchen/family room unit and is used a minimum of 5 hours per day.
It's ok for sport, motor racing
Got it from JB on a wicked Wednesday.
Remote down volume has stopped responding, luckily it's the first button on back of tv
      .

    • Mixed bag, but that was from like ten years ago. I reckon my family owned four of them, two died after maybe a year or so, one lasted longer, and the other still works today.

I’d spend the bit extra for a decent model. All my Samsung LCD TVs have lasted forever.

  • Soniq are expensive TVs. you will probably be buying a new one every 18 months so over time it would just be the same price as a decent one lol

  • +1

I bought a couple of Soniq products including a TV years ago and i was not satisfied with them.

    • care to explain why? as that will help other people looking for a cost effective TV

    • Did it blow up?

Any deals for 40 inch tv non smart tvs

  • +1

Anyone seriously considering but can scrap together a bit more cash for something much better and slightly larger than you can get the:

TCL P745 55" for around $545 at JB hifi through their customer chat. Prob get the 50" for $4xx based on that.

I got one last year and think it is a ripper of a tv for the price. Gaming, multiple streaming services, kayo have all worked great and looked good on it.

Mine even came with 6 months of free kayo or binge (I went kayo which saved me $180 at current prices!).

    • Negotiated offers aren't a great basis point, don't know how prices were last year but now you'd have to get a salesperson desperate to hit their targets as the go price is higher than that, meaning they'll be making zero or slightly negative commission.

If you did a multisell so they unlocked the multiplier and could get commission on other items (ie soundbar, wall mount etc) but $700 to $4xx is still a massive jump, considering that's the price range of Ffalcon.

      • From what I have seen the 55" TCL P745 are in stock all over the place. They will be more keen to move them on. They have also gone on sale 3 time in the past 2 months at JB hifi. They also seem to have more margin in the price likely due to the volume of them they are moving compared to a cheaper model like Ffalcon and how big TCL are for pricing power.

I'm pointing out what others might not realise - even when JB or similar retailers have a TV on sale it is often still not their best price.

My advise would be to short list 3-4 TVs you like and ask for best price on each. Also ask for any other tvs similar that they can offer a special price on. I did that last time and some models and very little wiggle room from current special and others had a surprising amount making them attractive deals.

  • Anyone got their purchase? I am still waiting for a ready to collect email.
