Warning: the product page doesn't mention the Ryzen AI engine, and most of Lenovo non-thinkpad models had Ryzen AI completely disabled (user cannot enable it in any way)

    • First row mentions it's apicablr for Ryzen AI engine on your link

      • That means the chip has the AI engine physically, but the laptop manufacturer can completely disable it in firmware (Lenovo had the worst records), check the tables on that page below.

    • Good link, thank you.

Lenovo are a-holes, same CPU but disable the features to make you buy the more expensive Thinkpad.

once again lenovo AU is the dumping ground for poo poo IPS and or HD panels
Should be OLED, if not at least 2K for 16in these days

      Upgrade the display for $250:

      16" 2K (2048 x 1280), OLED, Glare, Non-Touch, HDR 500, 100%DCI-P3, 400 nits, 120Hz

Brings total to $1499. Not bad at all honestly, and 120Hz is nice.

      • oh cool

  • Display and Ports are let go

  • What the battery life of this be watching movies/scrolling?

I refuse to buy anything from any company that charged $300 for an ram upgrade from 16gb to 32gb. People should boycott such practices and they would quickly change.

But who would buy Apple then??? Think of those poor share holders man!!

get OLED and 32GB and pay only ~$1,800
Not really a deal is it.

  • no sale for 14" huh..

  • Just note no USB4/TB4 port on the system, so cannot use Thunderbolt docks, SSD or eGPU enclosures. 16GB of soldered RAM too is lowend. Maybe why Lenovo is low pricing them to shift units?

Incidentally, 2024 14" Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G6+ is scheduled for Q2 2024 release in Western markets. There will be a 16" variant with DIMM RAM slots too, unlike 14" with up to 32GB of soldered RAM. Will be pricier though than this advertised system.

    • How do you find out when Lenovo is going to release their next laptops into our market? I'm looking to buy a 14" laptop with discrete GPU at the end of the year and the current Lenovo Legion Slim fits the bill.

  • Why can't they scrap the 45% NTSC screens puke

How does this compare to the IdeaPad Pro 5 (16", Gen 9) for $1269?
Seems like better screen 100% sRGB, 350nits, and same specs including CPU (8845HS) and assuming Pro is a higher end laptop?
