About this item
CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY – Loop Engage earplugs are the product of extensive research & development, and they combine cutting-edge acoustic technology with ground-breaking design. They are specifically intended for use in noisy, interactive environments where chatting and networking are key.
LOW-LEVEL NOISE REDUCTION – Like other Loop products, Loop Engage qualify as certified hearing protection. Specifically, Engage provide what’s called low-level protection, meaning they block out excess sound without affecting the things you need to hear.
ECHO-FREE SPEECH – Loop Engage are designed with conversation in mind. They address a challenge frequently faced by regular earplug wearers: that echoey, head-underwater feeling that can make speech and ‘body sounds’ seem to resonate in your head. Engage limit this effect, freeing you up to network, chat and connect.
PERFECT FIT – All Loop earplugs are designed with both style and maximum comfort in mind. When worn correctly, they’ll fit any ear – and every set comes with ear tips in 4 sizes: XS, S, M & L, 1 carry case, Loop Mutes and extra form ear tips. If earplugs feel tight or uncomfortable, try a size smaller. If they don’t reduce sound sufficiently, try one size up.
SUSTAINABLE & REUSABLE – Loop Engage earplugs come in eco-friendly packaging and, like all Loop products, are washable and intended for long-term, repeat use.

"they combine cutting-edge acoustic technology with ground-breaking design" = techno babble and of no use IMO. Wonder how they look (no wearing shots) and sound?

    And US or OZ dollars??

The way they sit, almost looks like you've got plugs. Sounds wise, I use these at gigs and they're quite aggressive on high and mid, but I don't go home with tinnitus so I guess they're doing their job.

    • My coworker swears by them, says it cuts out background noise but you can still hear conversations. I’m keen to try them at this price.

    • I'm a go kart photographer, and I use Loop ones (not these ones in particular, just the standard ones). They work very well, and they're not noticeable.

    • +3

How the hell is that techno babble? If anything it's just vague.

  • +2

Do these come with the newer style case that has the silicon insert that helps stop them falling out when the case pops open?

    • +1

Always sketchy pulling them out at a show to throw them in and just hoping they don't fly out when I open the case. At least they work well and stop that feeling of flat/dampened hearing after leaving a show.

      • Search for 'keychain pill holder' on Ali Express/Temu/eBay and you'll find a tube with a screw on lid which stores them securely.

    • +1

I had the original awful case and the latching mechanism snapped off so it wouldn't close anymore. Threw their customer service an email and they sent me the brand new silicon design no questions asked. I know it's not quite what you asked but, worth mentioning.

    • +1

Just received my order, it’s the original case

I’ve tried about six times now and it refuses all my payments or just freezes. What a terrible website.

    • Thank you very much it finally went through!

I'm super sceptical about this design doing it claims. How is a hole outside of an ear canal, which is blocked by the silicon plug, meant to help with conversation?

    • +2

can read the amazon reviews, see what they have to say

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Loop-Conversation-Low-level-Networ…

      • -1

Maybe just my take on the first page reviews, but most read like these are normal ear plugs.

    • +2

I've got a set, the hole isn't fully plugged like earplugs. Still lets sound through but reduced volume and not all frequencies are even

    • +1

Possibly works a bit like a helm Holz resonator chamber in your ear, hence the uneven frequency damping distribution. Hopefully tuned to wavelengths of importance.

    • +2

How is a hole outside of an ear canal, which is blocked by the silicon plug, meant to help with conversation?

It's difficult to see in photos but it's not just a solid plug. This review of the Experience model has a closeup photo that shows the opening that leads to the acoustic channel and filter in the tip.

The idea is to selectively reduce frequencies that can interfere with hearing conversations in a noisy place rather than just fully block and muffle up everything like a normal earplug (which you'd want if you simply need hearing protection).

Looking at the graph for this model vs the Experience model meant for concerts from this page, you can see the Engage lets more mids and lows through while cutting the upper mids while the Experience is a little more even.

Of course if you put on earplugs in a quiet place it's going to make it more difficult to hear a conversation - it's meant to be used in noisy places.

Throwing it out there for higher-level noise reduction, that the Etymotic ER20XS (Universal Fit) are currently $21.81 (via Amazon US) and are a pretty popular choice.

I picked some up last minute to for about $40 for Taylor Swift and they were great for helping drown out all the screaming

    • +3

Yeah high fidelity earplugs are a lifesaver for concerts, I bought some for a concert too and carry them everywhere now to save my ears.

    • +2

These are awesome. I use them for metal concerts and not having ringing in your ears the next day is amazing.

    • I've been using these Etymotic ear dildos for around 10 years and wouldn't recommend anything else - they're fantastic.

  • +2

Can't seem to see a NRR listed?

    • +2

It's probably on their Loop's website

      I looked on a box I have
      Mean SNR is 16db
      NRR is 10db

  • Anyone know how they compare to EarPeace plugs?

I mainly use ear plugs for riding, not sure if this style would be helmet friendly?

    • I use this brand for riding and it's fine inside the helmet

  • Bought some of these last year. Honestly, they're hyped up, over-designed, earplugs. For better value (and performance, and comfort) grab some silicon-putty style ones from your local chemist.

    • +2

although you didnt find benefit from them I can personally say, as a person who has extremely sensituve hearing, that I wear these out in public so I can not be effected by unwanted noises.

They are a game changer for me.

    • +4

Honestly, they're hyped up, over-designed, earplugs. For better value (and performance, and comfort) grab some silicon-putty style ones from your local chemist.

      They're for different uses.

Silicone ones are great for sleeping as they can mould to your ear and are designed to block as much noise as possible. These are meant to lower the volume more evenly so when you wear them at e.g. a concert, the music won't be as muffled as silicone earplugs, and you can still talk to people around you.

    • +2

I've been using silicon-putty plugs for a couple of years while looking for something better. A large driver for that search was that the silicon plugs dampen noise well but they also muffle the hell out of it. At concerts they're almost always a bit of a let-down.
Enter the Loop Experience - they have honestly been a revelation.
They're comfortable and the sound picture is much much clearer. I wore mine for a concert a couple of weeks ago, for the first time. I was so nervous about their performance - due to pre-existing hearing damage - that I had to check a couple of times to make sure that they were doing the job I thought they were, as the sound was so much clearer.

Definitely a significant quality upgrade from the silicon putty plugs when it comes to listening to music. If all you're looking for is shutting out sound, for sure the putty plugs are great though.

  • Purchase portal times out with credit card and Apple Pay. No good for me.

  • I got a set from previous Amazon deal and quite happy with them.

Great for long days with kids when you want to take the edge off crying or yelling

When I went to my local audiologist to get custom earplugs they were surprisingly cheap, a little over $100 about 6 years ago including the appointment etc.

    Highly recommend looking into.

    • They cost me $180 a few years ago. It's for a different use though, those are meant to block out as much noise as possible while these selectively block out some noise to help with conversation in noisy places.

      • Nah, you can get customs with that purpose in mind, musicians earplugs would be what you'd be looking for.
Mine aren't designed for maximum db reduction, I think you could pick between 15db and 24db or something, looks like there's a canal to maintain clarity at desirable frequencies like human voice etc

        • Sorry you're right, my audiologist didn't mention to me at the time so I forgot about them. I was getting impressions done to remold just one IEM and the audiologist offered to get earplugs done up at the same to make it more worth it.

With your $100 set, were impressions taken and earplugs cast from them, or were the plugs cast in-ear?

          • @eug: Impressions taken then made from that!
Could defs be more expensive nowadays with inflation

"Resound musicians hearsavers" seems to be the product I got. First link I saw was 250 so maybe it's gone up a fair bit, or maybe there's cheaper ways to get them or similar products.

  • This is something interesting .
Pity I’m too cheap to buy .
    Oh well…

  • Ordered - give it a try. Thanks OP.

  • I got a pair
    They work well
    When they don't fall out
I got small ears and none of the buds stay in
Might have to look for aftermarket options

  • +5

I can't comment on these particular ones but I have the ones that reduce noise by 25db (I think they're called experience) and they are awesome for concerts. I've tried a few different ones and these are easily the best sonically ie the design works well for their intended purpose. Really wish I'd had these when I was a young fella! I now have tinnitus but still love live music and these allow me to see a few gigs a year whereas without them it would be none.

    • +2

Again, not commenting on this specific deal, but thoughts on the general product.

I just bought a pair of the Experience Plus ones (after this deal was posted due to the hype) in order try and find my perfect gig earplug. And after using them last night, I do have say they did a pretty good job. Although they did seem to take a bit too much out of the mid-range maybe? I seemed to lose too much detail out of the guitar I think. But having said that, they didn't kill the top end like a lot of earplugs do either, so that was a good thing. And it was a pretty solid wall of noise and my ears felt fine afterwards. I started with the mute filters, but took them out after a bit as I didn't think they were necessary.

They fit my ears pretty well. My right ear cannel seems to be slightly bigger than my left, so if I use the same size earplug ( when they're a hard earplug and not something squishy), the right doesn't seem to seal and work quite as well. I didn't really have that problem here, even with the same size silicone tips. The large tip did seem a bit uncomfortable, so stuck with the medium in both.

And a big plus is the design means they're easy to put in and take out.

So I don't think they're a bad product all in. Probably not perfect to me for my use case, but I'm pretty sure I'll be using them again. And wondering whether I should try one of their other models.

      • Tried them at another gig, which was more acoustic guitar than full on hit you in the face electric and they sounded pretty good for that one. So I am happy with them.

  • +2

@Cellmate will you be restocking the clear ones? Woupd prefer those over the rose coloured ones

    • I also would much prefer crystal…

    • Same.

    • These look more translucent than the watermelon colour I have, so they should be quite discreet against your ear if your concern is them standing out.

  • I suppose my use case would be an occasional gig or like club, which these days is about a once a month thing.

That and possibly to sleep in, my partner wakes up 2 hours before me and makes noise, which sometimes wakes me up too early…

I wonder how easy they are to sleep with….

    • I've slept in mine a bunch of times, they're quite comfortable.

  • meaning they block out excess sound without affecting the things you need to hear.

Cheers. Got a pair to hopefully block nagging wife sound while watching fav netflix shows

    • +2

Like a true ozbargainer - loop earplugs are much cheaper than divorce, couples therapy, man cave.

  • Any good for the Mrs snooring all night long?

    • You might want the Loop Quiet

  • No more white colour. Just rose

    • +5

Why do you think these would help with existing tinnitus? They only stop you from hurting your ears further.

        • +4

I don't think you were wearing the properly. I've had multiple pairs and there is a marked difference in decibel. It doesn't block all noise like a normal ear plug though if that was what you were expecting.

    • I misread your comment. Sounds like you are taking about hyperacusis, which would need a more advanced hearing aid type device to block the 8khz range.

  • Thanks Cellmate! Have been really keen to try these, look forward to giving them a go :)

  • One of my mates who has ADHD told me that it works great

  • This or the Experience Plus for an upcoming concert?

    • Experience supposedly better frequency spectrum for live music.

  • Only rose colour left. Clear sold out

  • I use them for concerts and riding motorcycles. Without them I hear music but not vocals, with all distortion removed and can follow vocals. Riding wind noise is greatly reduced and can listen to music clearly on my Cardo. Great product!

  • Is this good for music festival?

  • Has this deal expired? Just clicked on the link and it's showing as full price now :(
