        Yeah, I’d say no impact. Only the primary card holder is liable when you have additional card holders (as opposed to joint accounts), so there should be no change what so ever compared to having just the one card holder in that respect. Same liability dollar wise and only against the account owner.

    Applied but got a text message asking to call a support line as they require additional information to complete the additional card application. Thought I will call them after work but received a call in about 45 minutes, provided the additional the details and the application for additional card was approved. Points landed soon after the call. Thanks OP.

        There is no harm only benefits. You can set up separate online logins and some offers you will receive for the primary and subs. Eg. I always receive the Ampol and Liguarland offers for all the cards. I have 2 primaries so 10 in total and for some offers, I can do 10 times.

    those saying they received points immediately, assume they're AMEX MR not Qantas/Velocity points? I've received 4 emails saying approved, all good, on its way, in the mail, no worries but no points

      Qantas points and received within 10min. Remember that’s with them appearing in your Amex account though. They won’t be in your Qantas account until Amex does the usual monthly sweep to move them over.

    Used to be handy when Shop Small was a thing.

    Used to be able to add a secondary card in your own name and get the points…I don't know why… might be still a thing. Use an initial maybe.

    Any idea if Amex unofficially bans someone who cancelled the Explorer credit card just before the annual fee but after using the $400 travel credit and the 120k MR points? Asking for a friend 🙂

        The annual fee gets charged on your first bill. The scenario here is the annual fee that gets charged on membership anniversary.

      in the old days i used to use both $400 credits within the last week then cancel card and get it reinstated within 60 days and annual fee was refunded since i canceled before statement was due, but you can't do that with personal cards any longer due to new laws, but i think its still possible for a business card as you can still reinstate them without a new credit application.

    The terms and conditions of the webpage has this comment:

    “An annual Card fee of $30 p.a. may apply to Qantas Classic Cards and Qantas Premium Additional Cards. Please refer to your Financial Table.”

    Does anyone know which cards are the classic or premium cards? There’s no info on the Amex or Qantas website from what I can gather.

    If I cancel my primary card now that I have the bonus points on my card will I lose them? They are not converted until the 13th of April.

    Does anybody know if you can add the additional cardholder with the same phone number as the primary cardholder or does it have to be unique? I'm wanting to add a family member but don't want them to have to worry about receiving verification texts etc so am inclined to use my number.

      I have 2 AMEX cards and each has 4 supplementary cards. I do not recall them ever receiving texts. Maybe others can comment.

    I signed up as a new customer to get this offer but because I added the additional card holder during the sign up process and not through the promotion link, I'm not eligible. And because my additional card holder got approved already, I cannot re-add him. It's so incredibly dumb. Spoke to 5 different people in customer service, got disconnected 3 times. Horrendous experience so far. Just FYI for any new customers looking to sign up to take advantage of this offer.

    This offer ends today and my Velocity AMEX with the bonus 120,000 points is in the mail and due due to arrive by Tuesday next week. I cant add an extra card holder online until I recieve the card to set up my account. Do you think if I call they could set it up for me so I dont miss out on the extra 15,000?

      i think you will need to have the card on hand first in order to activate it before you can apply via the link to add another supplementary card. you can always try and call up and add a card but have to quote promo code and make sure that rep adds notes so you get your account so that you end up getting 15k points if you have to chase them up.
