Nice find! This was a few hundred more yesterday.

I really need to stop coming on this site…

  • +4

How does this compare to builds from BPC or TechFast?

    • +6

Branded complete units may be better after-sales, but the materials used will generally be chosen as a minimum.

      • +6

tbh the cheap unbranded ones skimp on everything as well, at least with branded ones the PSU are usually good quality

        • +5

The cheap unbranded ones at least use off the shelf parts that can be easily upgraded..

Branded units usually use a custom cut down board/case with a more difficult upgrade path

    • this includes OS i think

    • +1

      pretty comparable

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/832623

Id go the AMD CPU htough and slightly better GPU On the technfast though> After adding the RAM upgrade and delivery probably around the same price.

THe OMEN case is sexy tho

      • +1

        i thought the I7-14700f beat the Ryzen 5 7500f by 20%-25%?

      • Are you sure AMD CPU is better? Please check the latest Dragon's Dogama 2 benchmark

        • No i just prefer AMD, not a fan of intels shady monopolistic tactics.

    • +1

Avoid it like the plague. Proprietary PCs like this always have heating issues and lack the same upgradeability as standard desktop systems. It will thermal throttle due to the poorly designed case and weak cooler, reducing part performance and lifespan. Hard to troubleshoot when something goes wrong and may be impossible to find replacement parts should the wrong thing break. Just buy a standard PC and at the very least you can maintain and upgrade it with off-the-shelf parts.

  • 4080 then its a good deal

    • +1

      5080 then it's a good deal

  • +3

I think the $3999 4090 would be a good choice as well

    • I thought so too… I was worried about the cooling though… looks like a 120mm radiator

      • Should be enough for 14700f. Otherwise you can swap to other air cooler or 240mm mounted on the top inside the case?

    CBA PC?

CPU+Card+SSD is ~$1900 alone. Jeez I really want to pull the trigger on this.

    • +6

yep, and if we include the Window 11, HDD, Motherboard, and case,32GB RAM this can easily pass $2500

    • +5

but you get a quality Asus 4070ti instead of a generic HP 4070 ti

      • Itll be a blower or dual fan

      • Was about to pull the trigger til I read your comment - how can I confirm the type of 4070Ti HP has put in?

        • cant find anywhere. maybe try youtube review video. my guess is its the same as alienware custom GPU card

  • +1

    Nice deal

  • +1

    Great deal

  • What sort of CPU cooling does it come with?

    • +1

From the link "92 mm 2-heatpipe non-RGB air cooler"

      • 2 heatpipes sounds a bit rough for a 14700

  • Is there a second m.2 slot?

    • From the listing, it does look like it.

      Expansion Slots
      1 PCIe x16; 3 M.2 (2 for SSD, 1 for WLAN)

  • how would this compare to a m2 pro mac mini which also goes for $1999

    • -1

Depends what you want it for.

If gaming etc, you'd want this, if video editing etc, no PC compares to Apple products.

I say this as someone that has both. 2-3 year older Macs just demolish PC when it comes to video/photo editing.

      • primarily for video editing and photo editing.

        • Go with Mac, not even close. But if you are intending on SOME gaming, then PC.

    • +1

I don't have much experience with Macs but I just watched this video on youtube and a lower specced pc than this deal beats the Mac Mini M2 Pro in video rendering times - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_D0K3-uZMyY

      • very interesting video. that test was with a 13th Gen. interested to see the test with the 14th gen like the one on this deal.

I just bought the above one without case from Mwave….I want to kill myself now..

    • +4

custom build will always be more expensive as long as there's an ozbargain deal for a pre-built. Custom is only good for people who demand a look they want. I would cancel that order since a 3060 is way behind 4070 ti.

    • +1

cancel the order, if you have not opened the boxes, it should be ok to just return and get refund.

  • What is the warranty and are there extension options?

  • +6

I looked at this last night and it's a couple of hundred bucks cheaper than building

Main concerns are the cooling, particularly the weak CPU cooler (which may be difficult to upgrade)
    Case cooling also poor.

The ram is only 4800mhz and upgrading will likely be an issue due to the locked bios.

The bios will also mean it will be running the std power limits, so won't be as fast as doing diy (with good cooler)

The oem style GPU will be ok, but cooling won't be as good as a 3rd party model

    • Hi mate, thx for the post though.
would you mind to elaborate more on the locked bios issue?
I know a guy who bought from them a while ago said it is possible to swap the rams on this PC.
If it is impossible to put any XMP ram on it then it is a big no no.
      cheers.

      • +2

There will basically be very limited options in the bios.
My research last night indicated that yes XMP will not work (likely the reason they supply 4800mhz ram - plus the cost).

You can swap/upgrade ram but i wouldnt bet on getting any speed over 4800mhz

    • +1

Also issues with resale value. Most of the time you can only sell the PC as a whole in the future since you won’t have individual boxes or receipts etc. making upgrade almost impossible.

  • Already committed (in many senses of the word) but, according to the HP website it has a 600W PSU, is this borderline for running an RTX 4070 Ti?

    • +3

a bit on the low side but probably just ok (HP will get away with the cheapest possible to cover the hardware) - they will be running limited power on the CPU and it will be throttled by temp probably so less draw on that side

    • +1

600W for 4070ti+14700? It's not gonna work well. Where did you find the spec? I can only find one on HP US site

  • +1

    Out of stock now

    • back in stock

  • Anyone received this PC already?

    • Yes, I received mine yesterday. Pretty good, I thought.

      • Have you checked the serial number on hp official website? Mine says its warranty was activated in December 2023.

    • I am still waiting for shipping info. Bought it at about midday on the 21st.

      • 11-ish AEST

        • Did you get shipping info straight away?

    • +1

I just got in touch with HP and it seems they over sold and the next batch is now due in 4-6 weeks.

They did offer a refund if I wanted.

I am unsure whether to refund it or not…
