Is porting from Boost to Telstra straight forward these days?

    • +3

Yes, I did that 4 days ago. Pretty quick, no PITA.

    • +2

Yes, I did it this morning. Took about 10 minutes after I activated the Telstra sim on their website and followed the prompts.

  • Got one, will move out of optus once my amaysim expires, they are terrible in my region.

  • Price match with officeworks, I forgot 😔

      they only sell $160 ones?

      • +1

My bad, you are right, now i don't feel bad 😉

  • Any 12 month ones coming?

  • +1

You can activate as Mobile Broadband and get 12 months 60GB data. No calls but good for iPads in the country.

    • How do you do this? I thought this is a call sim? To put into iPad don’t you need A data sim?

      • +1

When you start the activation process it asks you what you want to activate as. Either mobile or mobile broadband. I’ve done it several times

        • Thanks heaps. Does this work with all other prepaid sims from other carriers? Can activate as mobile broadband?

          • @corgicorgi: No it’s just a Telstra thing. Works on the new $160 ones too

            • @rpb: And this works for 12 months? The new $160 one comes with 110gb

              • +1

                @corgicorgi: Yeah it’s currently 100 but usually 70GB

            • @rpb: Do you think this will work on eSIM also? The 6 month eSIM to get 12 months expiry as data?

    • What we advertised is a Telstra 6 month plan with 60GB data, not 12 months.

      • Try and activate one. It will offer you to activate as either mobile or mobile broadband. If you pick mobile broadband (data only) it lasts 12 months. I have done it several times

        • My apologies, you are right, there is a data only option with 60GB data for 12 months, just tried.

          • @Auditech: Cool. Yeah I used them in iPads

Any 160$ deal with 110GB data?

  • I am with a year-long Boost plans that expires in May. Any issues with switching to this plan in Jun? (And then switching back to Boost after the Telstra one expires …?)

    • You can activate the SIM any time before its expiry date, you don't have to wait till Jun or maybe that's a typo?

60 gb to use within 6 months? Rubbish. You wouldn't want to leave the house much.

  • Can you use these in apple watch and have number share?

Also, if I did get this and they do support the watches, who else can I port to for cheap that supports watches? From what I’ve come across most pre-paid don’t support watches.

    • Prepaid dont support watch number sharing as far as i know. Its only for postpaid with extra monthly charge of 5$.

      • Thanks for the reply.

  • Perfect timing: I can combine with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/837733 ($50 off $230 170GB) - I'm due to expire in early July, but between the two, I'll grab a new Boost SIM, port to Telstra a few days early, then back to Boost. Happy days! 18 months for $280.

  • I have bought a few seconds ago, Can I choose Esim instead of shipping to my house?

    • You can convert to eSIM on a compatible device after activating the physical SIM.
