The OzB voting system is infinitely meaningless - and only a Wayne Kerr would place any value in it.

                        • @R4: If this sytem is meaningless then you must have gotten 1k times more downvote in real life. A clawn is a clawn and only speaks clawn's language.

                          • @RimofLeo: downvotes don't exist in real life (well, maybe in your 'life' they do) - only the heads of losers/wayne kerrs on OzB.

What's that bollocks your speaking? Clawn isn't it?

    Chyna no. 1!

H6 Ultra hybrid price is same as before ! They increase price to accomodate discount. Only benefits Jolion Hybrid by 1k.

I’ve been driving the jolion for the past two years. Pretty good car for the price. I don’t think there’s any car that comes close to it in price/perfirmance.
Driving it is a bit laggy compared to a cvt cos of the turbo. Otherwise it has all the safety features you’d expect from a Kia + safety pack.

Overall I’m happy with the car. If you can afford a RAV4 or a sportage than sure go for it but at this price point I don’t think any thing can compare

    • +1

I have one too and this is spot on. Is it a performance vehicle? Hell no. Is it good value for money? Hell yes.

    • The Jolion is a small SUV so the fair comparison is the H6 model vs the RAV4 or the Sportage. I would have preferred a RAV4 hybrid but I simply couldn't wait the 12 months required. Furthermore, you're talking about $43k (1 month wait) vs $56k (12 month wait) which is a huge difference.

2023 models! Does it mean 2023 build date? Surely you can bargain much more off than that. It's discounted because no one is buying them.

The Chinese auto market is intensely competitive in the low to mid market, with sales of new japanese/korean cars nose-diving (and some pulling out entirely). GWM is considered to be the less competitive manufacturer in China vs others like BYD.
Really hope we get more Chinese models coming to Aus since more competition is always good for us consumers

    • The established brands have done it to themselves with continued price hikes and pivots to the premium market. Think mazda axing CX8-9s and Toyota's ridiculous supply issues with price hikes on waiting lists. There's a void in the market for cheap cars that works and chinese cars will fill it

  • Driving by the wharf and there is some many cars sitting there……………………

Stocks are coming back but scattered through Australia for popular models (Sorrento GT, D-max, Rangers, Tritons, Prado etc)

But even if you have the credit score of 815+ to secure 5.68% finance that's an insane amount of money to give the bank given the car will depreciate 56% by 5 years. That equals a depreciation of over $10,000 a year + maintenance + fuel + insurance etc.

If the car is $72,000 that's $82,000 + fees you're giving to the lender. The average Joe blow may get 9% interest.

This is why car yards are full. People may have ordered then got declined finance etc which is why you CAN get some models now if you don't care about colour.

  • I've been driving the Jolion for the past two weeks while my car is in for repairs. It's a great in torque with some impressive features, like high-quality all-around visibility cameras and comfortable seats. However, the ride quality feels a bit lighter compared to my Honda, which has a more solid feel and confident.

  • How much to get the used one - say one year old?

    • +1

The Hybrid's are selling like hot cakes and hold their value. The petrol only models depreciate faster.

My sister has the H6 Hybrid. It's a well kitted car and drives super smooth and quite torquey, will leave most hot hatches in the dust. It can do 1050km - 1100km with AC on half the time or 950km per tank with AC on all the time. (This is for the Lux Hybrid with smaller wheels). I think it's a 50L tank. Plus it takes bog standard 91 unleaded. With AC off I have gone down to 4.4L/100km on a trip from Bondi to Cronulla in medium traffic. For $45k, I mean, it's a great car, at least the feedback I have gotten after she has done 15,000km in 12 months of ownership. It does come with 7 years warranty. As for reliability, I have seen a few of these as Taxi's which bodes well for it's reliability reputation both here and overseas. She bought her GWM Haval H6 Hybrid early last year when Toyota wanted $70k for a cloth seat Rav 4 Hybrid with a 18 month delivery time.

Thought to share; not sure if others share the same experience. The H6 GT new car smell; smelt like walking into a $2 shop.

A trip to SCA fixed it.

  • +2

$30k car, you drive it for 20 yrs, then sell for $500 scraps, that's it, it is a work horse, not a $200k luxury you sell for 80k after 6 yrs

    • +1

That's assuming you can keep it going for 20 years. Parts availability may be an issue.

  • Haval has been best selling ICE car in China for many years, where competition is fierce and Toyota cars only sell a portion of prices in Australia.

    • Yeah, apparently their SUV's hold the No. 1 spot for the last 18 years or something. The H6 model has been the best selling model for the last 7 years in a row. Another vote of confidence that they aren't going bust any time soon.

  • +1

I've Jolion (almost three years now), and it's an excellent car for its price. The problem is that most people compare it to cars that cost $15-20k more, and these cars are obviously better.

    • +1

I compare it to the ASX as I much prefer dials and buttons to on screen menus and I dont want the car to kill me with stupid tech that I cannot permanently remove. Hopefully the new version fixes some of these issues but like alot of things in this modern world, product designers overcomplicate things not for ease of use or simplicity but simply to justify their big paychecks.

  • Is Haval gonna software update that super loud annoying indicator relay/sound?

  • -2

It's April and they still have 2023 models available? while other brands have waiting lists for over 12 months. That's worth thinking about.

    • Not sure what you’re implying. The main reason is that GWM can produce their cars more efficiently (and thus produce more) compared to other manufacturers.

Potential buyers of the Jolion may find the video interesting

Is tear down, by Russian automotive engineer,( dubbed in English-) of 2021 Russian Haval Jolion.

I’m no mechanic but looking at the tear down the quality looks reasonable compared to some tear downs of Korean cars I have seen. The wiring that is neatly wrapped and well secured, quality of plastics etc other very superficial observations. Quality looks on par with other mainstream manufacturers. NB Again I am not mechanic or have ANY mechanical knowledge so that opinion may not be worth much.

Still an interesting video that no other online car magazine that I know of in Australia does to show more than just surface quality of the cars.
