    Any ideas why Docklands Melbourne is closing down? i was there on the weekend and it was so packed i could barely swing a cat

      I think they are now relocating the Docklands Warehouse to Ardeer, Victoria.

      Costco Docklands in Melbourne is set to close at the end of 2024 due to a relocation plan. The store will be moving to a new, larger location in Ardeer, which is in Melbourne’s west. This new warehouse will cost about $110 million to develop and will offer more space and parking than the current Docklands location.

      The move is seen as a strategic decision to cater to the rapidly growing population in Melbourne’s western suburbs. The Ardeer warehouse will also feature a variety of specialty departments, including a bakery, fresh meats, a deli, optical department, hearing aid centre, fuel station, tyre centre, and food court.

      Approximately 270 employees from the Docklands store will be relocated to the new Ardeer location. The decision to close the Docklands warehouse follows a series of changes in the precinct, including the closure of the Central Pier in 2020, the Melbourne Star in 2021, and the ATET party barge in 2023 following a fire.

      The Docklands Costco has been a significant presence since it opened 15 years ago, and its closure is described by loyal shoppers as a ‘tragedy’ for the area. However, the new Ardeer store is expected to bring convenience and an expanded range of products and services to Costco members.

    I see industrial grade racks on facebook in SA with free delivery for $120. Anyone know if these facebook racks are any good?

    83kg and most likely too large to fit into most cars. Probably tack on another $65 to $80 for metro delivery. Becoming not so great bargain. Costco consumer reviews also suggest some quality issues. Just my 2c.

      I have these and absolutely love them. Yes, these are heavy but they are are heavy duty racks that can take punishment and store heavy material.

      I did bust my tailgate in my ute carrying this, but that was covered under warranty and an important lesson learnt. Will hire a truck next time.

      I have two, and linked them together to form a 3 bay wide set.

      I think they're great quality, and for the price.

      I put two on my roof racks (VW Passat) I shouldn't have, and I would never do that again. But I did.

      I'd recommend to get a thin mdf (6mm) cut to size to fit over the wire rack.

    Most garage shelving stores sell this carbon copy for $200. Better to go with a small retailer.
