Unlimited CLOUD Storage $4.95/Month from PogoPlug

30

Saw this gem hit my email the other day.

I've never actually tried their free 5GB but this seems a crazy price for Unlimited, when dropbox is $50 for 500GB.

Just Scroll down to where it says 'Pogoplug Cloud', click it and sign up.

I think the affiliate link is still included. To go directly to the cloud deal, this is the address - http://pogoplug.com/cloud

No, the link goes directly to http://pogoplug.com/
Neil edited out the affiliate, if you look under 'revisions'

      • I posted the affliate in the description Raima, the picture directs you to the page.

neil edited it a few minutes ago. you can see the change in the revisions tab

  • I don't get how this is possible. Is there a fair use policy. If I store let's say 5 terabytes surely they are losing.

    • I have no idea, I signed up about 30 mins ago and uploaded a movie…. No problems so far I guess we gotta see

…and they're likely to go bankrupt meaning you'll lose your 5 terabytes of data you had stored with them. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

      • Im sure they are smart enough to cap this deal for a certain amount of sign-ups, companies aren't stupid

        • Agreed, however, I'd still feel more comfortable keeping my stuff stored on a more well known cloud storage site. Depends what your storing on there though I guess…

Pogoplug is basically as well known as dropbox but is most popular in the US with their internet connected harddrives.

It was only recently that the Cloud storage came out.

I've got over 5TB of data stored on Crashplan and they are nowhere near going bankrupt despite their unlimited storage promises being in place for quite some time now.

Once you go large scale, storage is pretty cheap. And most customers will be storing a few GB of data so they'll subsidise the TB crowd.

By the time you've uploaded 5TB's they'll probably have accepted 5 months worth of payments.

  • Could this be used instead of Crashplan after they stuffed around with Aust prices? I need to find something to replace it with… want real time backup, preferable from NAS drives (which crashplan does not do without stuffing around and can fail)

    • Just use a US proxy to upgrade your account. Its actually worth buying a non-AU based VPS for $4 for the month (check lowendbox.com) and using it to signup to Crashplan on US pricing for a year. You'll save more than the cost of the VPS each month!

      • Thanks for the tip… I am having problems with crashplan and backing up files off my NAS… is a pain and has just stopped working for the 2nd time.. this mob has some family plan thing that does onsite and offsite, but we don't get the free onsite hardware in Aust so not really worth it.. if I decide to stick with crashplan then I will look into a VPN.

        • How about backblaze? Looks like a good cheap solid backup company…
