call me a moaner but fukc this price for a phone… fuk you apple

    • Apple aren't the only ones charging prices like that though.

      • They are the trend setters …if you want to be taken seriously you need to match it or your not in the same league.

      • I'm not going to be popular for saying this but this is the downside of being in the Apple ecosystem.

Your choice for phone is an iPhone or an iPhone. Unless you're looking at a refurbished old model, you're not getting a meaningful discount as Apple does not drop prices significantly on older models (by design) or just phases them out.

Android, while having a less integrated ecosystem, gives you more options. Don't need to the most top of the line camera? You can cut the phone price in half. Want a phone with multi-day battery life without a power bank? You have those options too. Want expandable storage? Got those options too. Don't need the latest CPU/GPU because you don't play Genshin Impact and also don't care about having the best camera? Okay you can pay 1/4 to 1/3 of an iPhone price.

To take an example, the Samsung Galaxy A25 is $500 retail now. I would wager that the vast majority of people would be completely satisfied with that phone's performance and camera quality (excluding low-light photos). There are similarly good options from Motorola and Xiaomi/Poco if you are open to overseas imports (trading better value for local warranty).

The s24 ultra is the same retail price, why only apple hate?

A true OzBer never compares the RRP

      • Because bitching about that doesn’t garner that much attention

      • if you are keen and can bother with some tricks their price can be reasonable

      • -2

        S24 is Ultra better: S-pen, AI & everything better…;)
That's why Samsung matches Apple's prices because they know they have better products & would want to have the same consumerism strategy (if you pay $$$ they think it must be good +
Apple principal: It's easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled ;)

        • Samsung has to otherwise they will get banned like Huawei lol

    • +2

i agree - but this will last you 4+years if you look after it. ~$460/year or $38 a month.

    • +1

Just don't buy it. There's plenty of great phones for half the price or less.

      • …or 2x functionality: S-pen, super fast charger included, more memory for multiscreen that iPhones don't have, let alone Desktop EXperience, fold/flip, …, …, …

      • unfortunately no

        • +2

Not to worry. Saved yourself some serious money.

Damn, just missed out. I wonder why they would take down the page?

This phone is good no need to wait iPhone 16 not much difference

  • +2

If you don' need a phone today and can wait I recommend that you wait as the prices are likely to fall due to Apple losing market share and pricing power.

Apple Faces Worst iPhone Slump Since Covid as China Rivals Rise

    London Bridge is falling down,
    Falling down, falling down.
    London Bridge is falling down,
    My fair lady.

    • Yes, including everything around London Bridge. It's Asian CENTURY & will be harder for the Western overpriced gadgets.
BYD (& many other Chinese brands) does the same to Tesla, EU & Japanese cars.
My next car will be BYD & next S-pen style phone will be Chinese (S23 Ultra with AI should last another 4 years (in the family, I'm the pioneer & testing the best that lasts).
