    why not a deal on the Ender 3 V3 SE instead (other than obviously trying to clean out all the old stock)

    also i could be wrong but for like $80-ish more when on sale, isnt the Sovol SV06 a better buy for someone looking for super entry level 3d printer in 2024

      thats what i was thinking and although im happy with my MK3S+ and P1S, i would probably buy one to muck around with if it were under 300

        If I had another 300 to burn I’d prob just cough up the little extra for another a1 mini without the amslite tbh - bloody love this little pocket rocket other than the 18x18x18 build size being a bit limiting

          i was tempted to get the A1 Mini based on the recent Amazon sale but held off cause of the max. bed temp. ASA is one of my fav filaments and it's hit and miss on the P1S.. would be a lot better if they could bump up the bed temp to 110.

            @dave78234: Yeah I was going to get p1s but thought… well I pretty much have my printers in a room with very poor ventilation. Might just give asa a miss and stick to pla or petg

        And there is a difference. Looking at an electric saw operating doesnt damage much. (Leatherface excepted). Where as unshielded laser engravers can do much damage.

        This is their point.

      It is illegal — They are unshielded class 4 lasers and do not comply to the Australian standards for laser devices.
      Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS IEC 60825.1:2014 Safety of Laser Products Part 1: Equipment classification and requirements, AS/NZS IEC 60825.14:2011 Safety of Laser Products Part 14: A User's guide.

      For this reason, if you were to use this in a business and someone was injured, worksafe would hold you accountable for failing to provide a safe work environment. Sellers of these devices could also be held accountable if someone was injured for the same reasons. Resellers of these devices based in Australia are putting their house on the line potentially, as if someone is injured they would be liable and their business insurance would probably not cover them.

      The big issue to me is they're always marketed like toys/gadgets, without reasonable safety information for a newish consumer technology.
      Personally think unshielded is fine if it comes with proper laser glasses or a clear warning that they're required at all times.

        Most of these budget laser cutters used to come with poor quality acrylic glasses that were not of the correct wavelength, not of the correct optical density, and completely lacking in safety certifications. As far as I know, I think creality still bundles garbage ones, but they now do sell some extra goggles that appear to at least meet the above three requirements.

        Lets not even talk about the literal toxic gases that can be emitted from a laser cutter if you cut the wrong material. They don't warn you of that either.

          Yeah absolutely need to check for proper glasses.
          Guessing you already know but a lot of the laser modules themselves are totally misadvertised. Probably people trying to do the right thing that have got serious injuries.

        Speaking as someone who has used this style of laser, even proper glasses don’t give proper protection. With a 40W visible laser, if someone walks in the room and catches a reflection, that’s permanent eye damage. Even through a window walking past outside. Also, I’ve not seen laser safety goggles that don’t have gaps and it’s quite possible to catch a side glance of a reflection. This level of power should be sealed away behind shielding and an interlock.

    Do not buy that 3D printer, it was my first 3D printer and now I've Vorons.
    I've had Prusa and BambuLab also.
    You will spend more time dealing with problems than printing. You can find better printer for a little bit more.

    You will hate the hobby because of this printer.

      Strong disagree - I learned about 3D printing Ender 3 and loved it. I spent a year with it learning how to get the most out of it. Then I sold it for a small loss on marketplace and bought a Bambu P1S. Obviously a massive step up in terms of quality/speed/ease of use - but my time learning how to use a dumber/simpler machine means that I can get more out of my more capable new one :)
