18 Month Powerhouse Museum Household Membership - $99

140

I just purchased this is a gift for one of those families that already has a everything else.

From the website:
For just $99 your family can enjoy great exhibitions, holiday activities and more until 31 May 2014. Enjoy free general entry for your family to the Powerhouse Museum and Powerhouse Discovery Centre, and exclusive discounts at Sydney Observatory, for less than the price of a one year membership. Plus visit Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention again and again for free (from 15 December). Hurry, this offer won't last!

This is a household membership, for two adults and all students up to 18 at the same address. So the extra six months makes this a good deal.

Normally $105 for 12 months.

And an extra 6 months if you choose to read it that way…

Normal price is $105 for 12 months…the deal here is $99 for 18 months.

    • If you add the six months free it would make it a $58.50 saving.

Normally $105 is only for 12 months whereas the $99 is good for 18 months.

What JV meant to ask is, why would you want to go to the same museum twice in 18 months?

      Good question JV.

No JV wasn't asking that. JV was being the usual self

If you have kids, it's a good deal, because you will go multiple times in a year and it still will be entertaining for them.

Just like going to the same zoo, each time, the kids are intrigued and want to know more and more as they grow up each time they visit, even though they are the same animals since the first visit.

If you don't have kids, it's a different story.

        • Agreed. There's so much there, it's hard to see it all in a day!

Also, over the course of 18 months the museum might have several different specialist 'exhibitions' (i.e. W&G, LOTR, Star Wars, Dinosaurs etc) that make for a unique experience! I've been to a few different ones, they make for a very different museum experience each time! :)

This is good value, especially if you ever take the family to Canberra as Powerhouse also has a reciprocal membership agreement with Questacon.

If you have young kids with a short attention span you also don't feel obliged to stay all day to get your money's worth, as paying per day is quite expensive. When I lived in Canberra we would take the kids for an hour or two and then have lunch by the lake when their attention span ran out.

  • Good value. I am a Powerhouse Museum member in Sydney. I got the membership card and I went to Queensland Museum's Scientre, Questacon in Canberra and planning to go to Melbourne's scienceworks & planetarium. Good if you have kids and will travel to other states. It is like an attraction pass for the family.

If you live in Sydney, consider becoming a member with the Museum of Victoria. It, from my research, has arrangements with a few Sydney-based attractions. It covers:

    Australian Museum (Sydney)
    Australian National Maritime Museum (Sydney)
    Powerhouse Museum (Sydney)
    Science Centre (Wollongong)
    etc

  • Is this Powerhouse Museum membership (Sydney) eligible for entering those other museums in Canberra (Qestacon), Science Museum (Wollongong) as well?

  • bought it.. thanks OP
