    hows this a deal?

    • -3

How much is 24 pack or nurofen everywhere else.

  • -1

    7.99 chemist

  • +6

The key words in the (meaningless) claim of 2X faster relief are 'up to'. Mathematicians will ask the value of X.

Ibuprofen is Ibuprofen. Aldi Ibuprofen is far better value.

    • +7

Genuinely have zero connection to any pharma: oddly enough some ibuprofen and most paracetamol does not work for me and some branded ones, nurofen being one has always worked when generic coles brands failed to get my temperature under control.

Could just be quality control. But there you go. Ibuprofen isn’t always ibuprofen, at least for this sample size of 1.

      • +3

Me too! Sample size of 2 now

      • +3

        More like placebo effect.

        • +5

          It’s psychosomatic, and it’s insane.

        • 👍

If the findings are true, this formulation gets absorbed faster (ibuprofen has very poor water solubility). Then again this is funded by Reckitt Benckiser so there could be biasses.

      • +2

        To quote Neurofen

In recent years, different formulations of ibuprofen have been developed. Two examples are ibuprofen lysine (Nurofen Quickzorb) and ibuprofen sodium dihydrate (Nurofen Zavance).9 The ibuprofen sodium dihydrate formulation (Nurofen Zavance) is absorbed up to twice as fast as standard Nurofen.9,10

        • +1

How long until it has any noticeable effect on inflammation using an increment of time would be a more realistic measure than a meaningless 2X claim about being absorbed.

  • +2

These are identical to any liquid capsule form ibuprofen, they are simply claiming liquid form is absorbed faster than non liquid.

So basically go buy the no name and get an identical product.

Nurofen tablets are sugar coated, generic tablets aren't. Some people are willing to pay extra for this as they're easier to swallow & don't have a chalky outer coating.

Decent price, similar to buying Nurofen 96 bottle.

    • +4

Nurofen tablets are sugar coated, generic tablets aren't.

This is not true. When was the last time you bought generic ibuprofen? The standard 24 packs from the major supermarkets are sugar coated. See, for example, Hedafen from Aldi.

      • That's great, I haven't bought it for awhile tbh. Previously all generics were not coated

    • Yeah buying for sugar coating

  • -3

Gee someone is good on giving out the negs here ………………

    • +1

I've tried to even it out with some positive love 🇹🇭🍯

      • +1

        Hehe

  • Lol just take the normal stuff with coffee. Much faster

  • -3

Costs $1.50 in Aldi for literally the exact same thing (same active ingredient).

    Why would anyone buy these?

    • -1

      Free delivery with Amazon Prime?

      • You mean with the membership which costs $79 a year?

        • Good value if you use Prime, but you need to not mind mostly US content.

        • -2

Yes. Obviously, if you only buy ibruprofen and don't use their streaming, then its not good value.

Many people here, myself included, have Prime so we may as well use it for free delivery.

The posted deal is useful for some people. If you don't like it, move on.

          • -1

@realJuliusCaesar: Sure. I have Prime as well but didn't buy this 'deal'.

I think it's poor value personally, I would rather buy the generic ones which are much cheaper but that's me.

$1.55 for Coles branded sugar coated, same as this- you would not pick it in a blind test. Been using it for years.

    • $1.50 at Aldi. 5c cheaper.

  • -3

    Unsafe, hazardous to your health

    • -1

      Shut up.

  • ‘Ibuprofen can increase your risk of a heart attack or stroke that can lead to death. This risk is increased in people with existing heart disease and with longer use of ibuprofen and higher doses.26 Apr 2024’

    For quicker absorption:
    Try crushing the tablets.
    Dissolving in warm water.
Adding sweetness when injesting the drugs may cause a sugar spike to trigger physical and psychological responses.

Fun fact, products like Lemsip have a combination of active ingredients paracetamol and pseudoephedrine (! - in small doses).
