WPI Flavours

We now have 24 flavours available to choose from.

Our new release is the Brazilian Chocolate (Brigadeiro) flavour, best described as "A velvety taste of chocolate with hints of caramelised condensed milk.". (Chiara put that one together, I'm not so articulate!)

Our mint choc chip is now back in stock (unlike in the last deal). We have made a slight improvement to the flavour profile of this one, but it's extremely similar to the last iteration.

All flavours are naturally sweetened. We have transitioned over to thaumatin for the fact that it is an all natural plant based sweetener, a superior flavour profile, a neutral insulin impact (as it is a protein) and being very gentle on the gut. A bit of trivia, thaumatin is about 10x the cost of artificial counterparts (eg. sucralose) and more than 5x the cost of stevia based on weight! Our focus remains on product quality.

Also note the Unflavoured option is straight WPI with just sunflower lecithin added at the point of manufacture to assist in mixing and reduce frothing (less than 1% w/w). There is no sweetener added.

Flavour Availability:

Flavour availability will change throughout the deal. I will this area updated as flavours run out.

  • In Stock: All Flavours
  • On Backorder (Can be backordered): None

Also @Jamiess very kindly spent the time to put together some visual representations comparing the different flavours at https://ibb.co/ZgBSvjf and https://ibb.co/6WHLgrH

A couple of explanatory notes on this that I will add to avoid any confusion:

  • The sugar component is included within the total carbohydrate (as sugar is a carbohydrate). So for example with Vanilla Creamy, 4.4% total carbohydrate and 1.3% is sugar, meaning 3.1% (ie. 4.4%-1.3%) are non-sugar carbohydrates. I'm adding this note in here because we have had some customers confused by this in the past.
  • The sweetness won't be a function of the sugar content necessarily, as the perceived sweetness will be primarily derived from the thaumatin component (around 2000x sweeter than sugar w/w). Thaumatin is a protein and not a sugar. So it is highly possible that a low-sugar flavour can be notably sweeter than one with higher sugar. I note that we have recently reduced the sweetness in both the matcha and banana flavours (with more revisions to come).

Product Breakdown

  • 100% Australian Blended and Packed in our Sydney Facility
  • Our manufacturing facility is owned by us and is a NSW Licensed Food Facility with an approved Dairy Processing license
  • We only use WPI in this protein - this is not a blend of other cheaper proteins (for example Whey Protein Concentrate/WPC)
  • For the nutritional information for each flavour, please click on the "Nutritional Info" tab or see the table above. The best macros are for Unflavoured (Per serve: 29.7g P / 0.3g F / 0.4g C), and the flavour breakdowns will be variable. The Aussie Choc Malt our main exception with higher carbs of 9.9g carbs/serve (from the malt component) and a lower protein percentage - I highly recommend it for the taste, avoid if you want to keep the carbs down.
  • Protein is added hormone free, ultra and micro filtered and cold pressed
  • Naturally sweetened with thaumatin. We do not use artificial sweeteners.
  • Soy free - we use sunflower lecithin instead of soy lecithin (soy is common in whey proteins)
  • Backed by our 110% Guarantee. Try it and if you don't love it, we'll give you 110% back (in store credit) or a full refund (including delivery). As I mentioned in the video, we offer this so you can try the product risk-free. If you've opened it up to try it we're not going to make you send it back either.

Commonly Asked - Amino Z WPI / ON 100% Whey / Musashi 100% Whey (The 3 most popular proteins here on OzBargain)

In almost all of our prior WPI deals, I have been asked how our WPI compares to two other very popular products on OzBargain that we sell (Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey and Musashi 100% Whey).

One thing I want to emphasise is that we sell all three products and despite us obviously having a vested interest in our own brand, we firmly stand behind the quality of all three products (hence why we stock all of them).

In a previous deal, I asked our team to put together a comprehensive and objective video detailing many key differences between the three products. So if you're interested, the video can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LBeV33fArc

Obviously taste will come down to personal preference so we haven't touched on this, we have instead focussed on key attributes of each product. I hope this presents a fair representation of each.

Whey Protein Prices in 2024

I mentioned this in our earlier deal this year off the back of some discussion about protein pricing for the year, off the back of a competitor announcing a price rise in July. I'll provide an update to remain as transparent as possible.

We have seen increases in prices for whey protein raw material, primarily as a result of rising commodity prices in dairy around the globe. Prices have remained higher since my last update in Feb and it is possible that these raw material prices will begin to affect retail pricing later this year. That is, unless commodity prices drop back down again, which is also possible. If prices remain steady, this will likely impact all forms of whey protein (eg. WPI, WPC etc) at a retail level. We generally see a lag time of 3-6 months from commodity price changes to retail price changes.

Our raw material prices have begun to increase, but we have kept our prices steady for now (including this deal). We will of course do our best to keep prices as low as possible. This is more of a heads up as to what to reasonably expect based on the many conversations I've had with suppliers. No one knows exactly what is around the corner and so this is more to provide context rather than predicting exactly what will happen in the coming months.

Thanks for the insights above @knobbs @sim777 @kikxz. I'm going to share this with our team, that is super helpful for us to better understand how our WPI sits relative to the market.

        Jay

      • Agreed, some flavours get really frothy and makes it hard to drink all the protein in one go.

    • I agree that, for example, Optimum Nutrition Extreme Milk Chocolate is way better than Amino Z Smooth Milk Chocolate. However, if you're willing to go for a lower protein %, I think Amino Z Aussie Choc Malt is pretty bloody great.

I still have Unflavoured and Chocolate to try from the last deal, but I'm enjoying Aussie Choc Malt enough that I think I'll still stock up on this deal!

      • Thanks for the insight and feedback @scradley, I appreciate you sharing this feedback and especially on the Smooth Milk Chocolate. We will bring this one to the team and do some testing around this ourselves.

Glad you're liking the Aussie Choc Malt and thanks for the support of this deal too!

        Jay

These deals are better than christmas.

Aussie Chocmalt reigns supreme, no other flavour I have tried comes close.

Thanks so much for the kind feedback and for supporting this deal @Raphete! I'll be passing this along to our team.

      Jay

  • Just in time! I've been meaning to replenish my stash of taro! Any other flavours y'all would recommend? Wifey and I love taro, pandan and ice coffee flavours. On the fence about the aussie choc malt.

Thanks for the ongoing support @itsmehuey!

Just in case you're interested, we have just released the new Brazillian Chocolate flavour which has been quite popular for us. The Aussie Choc Malt is super popular, but do also note if does have the most carbs in it relative to all other flavours.

      Jay

      • +1

how would you describe the taste of brazilian chocolate flavour? sounds interesting! any way to get a sample sachet?

        • We don't yet have any samples of this one, bit it's a chocolate base overlayed with a caramelised condensed milk flavour. So not a traditional chocolate.

If you do end up ordering it and don't like it for whatever reason, please feel free to reach out and we can always replace it with something else.

          I hope this helps!

          Jay

          • +1

@aminozcomau: Thanks Jay! You guys are amazing! Speaking of condense milk flavour, have you guys ever though of releasing a spin-off of the ice coffee flavour and adding hints of condensed milk? Like vietnamese iced coffee!

            • +2

@itsmehuey: Thanks for the suggestion! Yes we have actually and this one is on our list. But we also have a very, very long list of flavour ideas, so I cannot confirm that we definitely will be doing this one. I will however take note of your suggestion because I too think this is a great idea.

              Jay

            • @itsmehuey: My thoughts exactly ;)

  • Hi Jay, I an an existing customer. I have $50 credit from your last deal. Before I go ahead and purchase, I was just wondering if I am still able to get the $55 credit from this deal if I spend $100 (on my own) + $49.99 (credit from the previous deal).

    Thanks for your assistance.

    • +1

      Thanks for asking @Jaybrissy92

In answer to your question, you will receive the repeat customer bonus for this deal since you have purchased from us before. So yes, you will receive the $55 bonus, even if you apply Z Points you acquired from a prior deal.

Consider Z Points as cash, you won't be penalised for using them.

I hope this clarifies. Thanks for the ongoing support!

      Jay

  • I don't know what magic you guys do , Placed my 8th order in last 9 months or so . I never bought any other WPI once I started ordereding from AminoZ. Pricing , customer service , tasing and mixing . You guys do the best. Thanks for the cashback deal make it extra sweet!

    • Wow thank you so much for the kind words and the ongoing support @listenam! I cannot tell you how much it means to us with so many orders to date.

Thanks for the great deal! Are you able to offer something similar on the Amino Z Vegan Protein? (I’m allergic to Whey)

    • Thanks for asking @cngu22!

We just ran a deal on the Vegan Protein a few weeks ago, so while we don't have one currently, you can use this code to get 30% off the Amino Z Vegan Protein. It will also come with free shipping.

I hope this helps and thanks for your support!

      Jay

    • @PerthectDeal Oh boy, I am terribly sorry about this and that one is my fault as we decided to launch this deal earlier than usual.

While we did schedule the messages for WA to go out later this morning, clearly your number slipped through the cracks and we will have to look into this in future. That is a fail on our end.

I'll have Vanessa reach out to you this morning in relation to this so we can rectify this. Again I am very sorry about the early morning message.

Was it because of the Myprotein deal I posted 😉😉

          @easternculture I cannot confirm nor deny 🤣

          • +2

            @aminozcomau: Bit of a coincidence, innit 🤔🤣🤣

          • @aminozcomau: Well damn, if you would have posted before the MyProtein deal I would have bought from you again.

            • @sildosaggins: Bummer, poor timing on our behalf! Thanks for the upvote nonetheless @sildosaggins

              Jay

        • I'm happy with the Myprotein deal; it's allowed for a slightly smaller quantity, and greater variety. Always good to try out different brands - it's not an extremely big investment, all protein at the end of the day. Though had I known that Jay was cooking something up, I might have held off 😅

@PerthectDeal - just letting you know I looked into our code and found a bug which caused you to be messaged in with the Sydney/Melbourne group despite clearly being in WA. I have fixed this up as it is possible some others may have been affected. Thank you for notifying me about this. I believe Vanessa has connected with you also in relation to this matter.

I apologise again for the very early message today.

      Jay

      • All good thanks for the feedback

Damn. Just went for the myprotein deal.

    • +2

      Still a decent deal :)

      Jay

    • The first (and last time) I tried to place a myprotein order they had it at their warehouse for two weeks with no correspondence despite several follow up emails. Luckily it was around the time AminoZ had one of their sales, so I was able to get a refund and purchase with these guys instead.

  • Do you know when/if the vegan deal will come up again?

    • +1

      Thanks for asking @GettingThePlus190s

We did just run this a few weeks ago and we won't be running it for at least several months from now. While we do plan on running it again due to the popularity, we don't yet have a confirmed date.

If you're looking to purchase from the Vegan range, you will get 30% off and free shipping using this coupon code. It's not quite as good as the last deal, but it significantly higher than any other discount we have available presently.

      I hope this helps.

I aim for 2KG of WPI a month (ideally 3.5KG tho), so these 5KG deals are good value for me :).
    Thanks!

    Fav flavours!

    • Pandan & Coconut Gelato - a pineapple, vanilla and coconut icecream flavour. I do two scoops with 200-250g of frozen tropical fruit (creative gourmet @ coles/woolies) + water + creatine in blender. 😋 (750ml tropical thickshake, 56g protein, 384 calories)
    • Aussie choc malt - with light milk and xanthum gum, or full + added icecream, it can taste a lot like a mcdonalds choc thickshake. 👀
    • Creme Caramel - just like above, but in the vanilla caramel way.

I wish Vanilla Creamy tasted more like vanilla icecream (still a good vanilla tho). The quest pre-made drink, premade rokeby vanilla wafer drink, and the ON powder all achieve a closer flavour to vanilla icecream than this.
    I also wish you'd release a pack with all 24 flavours @4 servings each = 3KG.

Having 24 flavours, without having to hold 1KG of each on hand, would be really cool to have. 😁

    • +2

Thanks for the great feedback and the support of the deal @musicinbed69!

I love those suggestions and I will be passing this along to the team. Great note in relation to the Vanilla. Also I love the idea about that multi-pack, especially now that we have such an extensive range of flavours (and still growing).

      Jay

    • +Matcha green tea, you wont regret it!

      IMO, Strawberry was not great

  • Hey Legend - perfect timing with the deal!

I can't seem to add the Amino Z Thermogenic 30 Serve to cart even though it says its in stock - is it a bug or are you out of stock?

    • Thanks for the support @MrThai!

Ah yes, we've exhausted our stock in the Thermogenic I'm afraid and yes that is a system error which we will fix up. So sorry about this, but no the Thermogenic is currently unavailable.

  • Question for the community / store rep:

    • What would be closest product to Musashi 100% whey?
    • Is Amino Z halal certified?
    • Anyone who plays a lot of sports, which protein product would you recommend that could help build muscle and get rid of fat? There's so many different products, shred, high protein, isolate etc. I go to the gym once a week for a full body workout usually, the rest I'm usually training.
    • +1

      Thanks for asking @ar7ist

I'll do my best to answer the questions:

      • Our WPI would be the closest product to the Musashi 100% Whey. Probably the key differences are that ours is a WPI whereas Musashi is a whey blend, along with the flavour options. We do have a video comparison here in case you're interested in more details.
      • Our finished product is not halal certified. The dairy component (Whey Protein Isolate ingredient) has been halal-certified, but we have not gone through the certification process for the finished product.
      • From our range our WPI would likely be the most suitable given the higher protein percentage, especially post-workout.

      I hope this helps.

      Jay

Building muscle requires a calories surplus, you will need to put on fat at the same time, but a small controlled amount. If you want to lose fat you need a calorie deficit. When building muscle its good to start with the body primed, 10-15% body fat, keep the diet clean, no dirty bulking.

Keep your protien high, you can play with carbs and fats based on how you feel or your results.

Weigh all food. Daily body weigh ins.

Google calorie calculator and or macro calculator, and calorie deficit and surplus, go from there.

    • Also, you need to hit the gym at least 3x a week and push to muscle fatigue, 8-10 rep range in general

  • Dang! Should have waited on this deal. Ordered Vegan from the last deal.

    • +1

Thanks for the upvote @mirovich and I do appreciate the support of the last Vegan deal we just ran also. I hope you like the Vegan one, but of course if any issues please feel free to shoot us over a direct message and Vanessa will be happy to look after you.

Hey Jay - been a customer for a while now and tried different flavours, just wanted to let you know I'm obsessed with melon milk. Please don't ever discontinue it even if I'm the only one buying. My partner finds it disgusting so I make sure I'm always having the time of my life when I'm taking it. It's the best!

    • +2

😂 glad to know you're loving the Melon Milk! It's a bit of a different one but no, we have no plans on discontinuing this flavour given its popularity.

Thank you for the ongoing support @thepurist!

      Jay

    • melon milk sounds like a weird combination - how does it taste like?

      • @prankster it's inspired by a popular Korean drink. A blend of honeydew and milky/vanilla undertones. I would consider it the most "refreshing" flavour of them all and it is one of our more popular flavours for this deal. I hope this helps!

        Jay

        • ok you sold me, i'll give it a try lol

          • +2

@prankster: If you don't like it, just reach out and we'll be happy to send out another flavour (at our expense) as part of our 110% Guarantee. Thanks in advance for the order @prankster!

@aminozcomau: thanks and great work, you guys are doing an awesome job with the deal and support

              Ordered placed :)

        • On a scale of 1-10 how rough do you think this would be mixed in with oats? That's predominantly how I consume my whey, but feeling like it might be a bit risky with that medium haha. Either way the Creme Caramel and Vanilla Creamy are always safe bets for me!

          • @NedStark102: @NedStark102 although I often have WPI mixed in with oats too. I wouldn't say it doesn't go together, but I do feel like a vanilla/banana/chocolate/creme caramel type powder will go better. That is my personal opinion though. The Melon Milk is a lighter and fruitier flavour, so perhaps think of it as being similar to having sweet honeydew with your oats.

You're not the only one, I'm loving it too! There's at least two of us!

  • I still have an unopened box with 4kg of WPI.

Don't think the wife will be happy seeing another Amino Z box coming in the mail 😂

    • 🤣 Understandable! But thank you for the support anyway @CocaColaZero!

      Jay

  • Just started working out so bear with me please.

Could someone explain to me if WPI is that much "better" than WPC?

I picked up 2kg of protein powder for $54 (https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/74330/inc-100-dynami…) from chemist warehouse recently. It markets itself as a "WPI/WPC" blend. 1kg=$27

This deal works out to be 1kg for $37.5 (not counting store credit). Is the price difference due to the higher protein content and better protein content or are there other factors? Is it worth the price difference?

Counting store credit, this deal is better by a long shot I understand. I just didn't include it as I'm not sure how long this workout phase is going to last and if I'll ever get through this 4kgs.

Nevertheless, what's the expiry on these? Still looking to buy as its WPI and good rep on ozb.

    Thanks.

      @blur thanks for asking.

WPI undergoes additional processing relative to WPC. So the raw material WPI will have a higher protein percentage and lower fats/carbs. Typically straight WPC is 80% whereas WPI is 90%.

This will typically translate into a better macronutrient profile if you're after a higher protein percentage, but it will depend upon the flavour of course. The one you linked to shows 74.9% protein. We have a few flavours below that, but all the way up to 90% (unflavoured) or 86.8 (melon milk).

There will be a few other differences which you may or may not value. For example, we use thaumatin which is a natural sweetener, whereas this product uses sucralose which is artificial. Ours uses sunflower lecithin and is soy free, this one uses soy lecithin (most relevant if you have a soy allergy for instance).

A lot of the value from this deal will be derived from the store credit bonus we offer. Do note that this can be used on anything that we sell, not just necessarily the WPI.

Our WPI has best before dates ranging from 18-24 months. They are all pretty freshly produced by us and 18 months should be the absolute minimum.

      I hope this helps!

      • Thanks for the quick reply and explanation!

        • My pleasure.

  • Just a comment of support for your team.

Customer service and communication is impressive.
High stim pre workout cola flavour is amazing…please never stop making this
Aussie choc malt and iced latte wpi flavours are 10/10. Great to be able to buy 4 or 5 kg at a time and split the flavours.

Flavour request: cookies and cream / choc chip cookie dough or similar.

Have you considered doing a premium shaker cup? I'm in the market.

Thank you so much @chasingstoke! Our team will be chuffed and I will be sharing this internally.

I do have some good news, we do have a cookies and cream flavour in the works. I cannot yet confirm the release date, but it will be soon. And it's really good (well, in my biased opinion anyway!). So we are super excited about this one.

      Thanks for sharing this!

      • Hi Jay, just wanted to chime in that I too would be interested in a premium shaker. I think everyone has already made great comments on what they consider to be premium - no shaker ball, easy to clean, insulated, etc.

For me, I bring my bottle in to work which I use to sip water at my desk. It would be great if it was leak proof (bottle in my bag during the commute) as all my current shaker bottles will leak even when screwed tight. Then it doubles as a shaker bottle when I take my supplements during lunch time.

        • Thanks for sharing @keyman. That's very helpful and I've taken note about all of these points. We will definitely be taking all of this on board.

          Much appreciated!

          Jay

    • id be keen on a premium shaker cup if there was one available :)

      • Thanks for jumping in @prankster (and thanks also for the original suggestion on the premium shaker @chasingstoke)

What would you consider to be a premium shaker? What type of material? And have you ever come across a good one?

Currently we don't have any plans around this, but I'll be happy to take this to the team for further discussion.

        Thanks in advance.

        Jay

        • id leave this to @chasingstoke to answer as i've only just joined back to the gym and using my old plastic shaker and was curious what a premium shaker cup was :)

        • For me a premium shaker would be an insulated steel shaker

          • @PotsyMcGoon: Thanks for the input @PotsyMcGoon, most appreciated and I'll take note of this suggestion.

            Jay

            • @aminozcomau: Jumping in for the shaker as well

I used to have a really good one from BsC that had the shaker plus compartments

              • compartment that was double sided: one side for powder (protein) the other split into 3 which could be for vitamin or pre-workout and creatine.

Main thing that stood out was that the main shaker was still 500-600ml instead of those that were smaller because of the additional compartments.

Other thing would be ease of washing.

              • @Unorthodox: I appreciate the insight here @Unorthodox. I am familiar with this model and we used to have something similar, but the shaker component was notably smaller. I'll have to take a look into this one given the shaker component is still relatively large. Thanks for this.

        • So I'm not sure how feasible any of this is…but I'll drop some thoughts.

Helimix is the design that stands out the most to me. Seems pretty well protected though in terms of patents.
highlight is the removal of need for shaker ball agitator.

Insulated stainless steel, dishwasher safe, with simple design principles is something I would pay reasonable money for. (Think YETI)
Something like the ice shaker or any of the lower quality copies on amazon.

          • +1

@chasingstoke: Oh that's a cool design, I haven't seen that model before. So not something we could copy directly given the protection, but certainly something to gain insight from. Agreed that the removal of the blender ball would make it much easier to wash and less materials needed.

Ice shaker does look cool and certainly something we could investigate further. I do like that design concept and it certainly gives a bit more of a premium feel to it.

Thanks for this insight @chasingstoke, this is great.

            Jay

            • @aminozcomau: Any time dude.

I'll send you a pm on here with my contact info if you ever want to talk design ideas.

  • Still have 3 bags from the previous deal so I think I’ll wait for the next sale.
Upvote for consistently great service, deals and flavours!

Just wanted to comment on some flavours I've tried recently.

Taro Milk Ice Cream is my new favourite. I'd find myself looking forward to having a serve each day.

Just started on the Ice Coffee and the first few serves weren't so great. Now I'm mixing with a higher amount of milk its tasting pretty decent now.

Thanks for sharing this @bleemo and I'll be passing this feedback along to the team. I appreciate the support!

I find about 50:50 ratio of taro milk ice cream and iced coffee goes great together

      • I've never even thought of combining!!

  • Thank you Jay, I've just ordered for the first time. Took a punt on the Chai Latte flavour seeing as the Protein % was quite high and I like Chai Lattes :)

    • Thanks for giving us a go @falkon007. If you have any issues whatsoever please don't hesitate to reach out to our team (including if you don't like the Chai Latte!).

      Jay

  • Have you fixed the issue where the cart gets emptied if you log-in after adding items to it?
I always forget to log-in until after I've done all my shopping. :P

    • +1

Ah that may still happen I'm sorry @upliftcontrol

We are actively working on a major website upgrade which will fix this issue, but it is highly possible that it may occur for you in the meantime. I am sorry about this inconvenience.
