  • What classifies as A grade? Any scratches, dents on these etc?

    • Grade A: The product which are classified as A will have minor to medium marks or scratches with minimal signs of usage in keyboard or trackpad. They may have very minor physical impecfections but have no fuctional issues.

      • what is the guaranteed remaining battery %?

        • +1

          85%

  • What is the latest generation for the intel cpu? This is the 8 generation.

    • 14th now

      • So these laptops are at least 8 years ago? Does it come with warranty?

        • Hi, this is not entirely correct. Process genaration naming got nothing to do with at which year it came into the market. This was initially introduced in Q1, 2019 so add 1.5 year to get idea about when it was in full scale.

        • +1

5 years. The CPU was introduced in Q2 2019.

          • -1

@jaypick: Which performs almost the same as i7 8550 that came out in 2017. So, close to 8 years in terms of performance.

    Should be 300-350

    • +1

Agree - would buy one immediately for $300. I thought using the word 'tax' in the discount code was interesting. I would imagine a far more relevant connection to tax time was the $300 price point, allowing an immediate tax deduction.

      • Yep at 300 store will get probably 15-20 sale, at 450 maybe none or one.. let them keep these its their loss due to greed

    • +1

I would probably cost them around $180 to 220 each

      • +1

Im sure less whwn buying in bulk. Offices dont care anymore basically they want someone to take the rubbish away. Then this shop wipe the outside and label them as refubh and 300% profit price tag lol…

        • Let me know if you know of any companies would do that. I don't mind buying in bulk and making 300% profit lol

Also available on ebay for $467 (with code and ebay plus) with 32GB RAM but 256GB SSD:

Should be under $300. Yes, it's a thinkpad T, but it is also an old CPU… Corporates are selling their end of life machines to Lenovo for $70-100.

Occasional elitebook 845 on ebay with ryzen 5/7 used or some new ones are going for $500-600… Blows 8th Intel chips by a decent margin.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. Please let us know which corporates are selling similar end of life specs laptops for $70-$100 and where.

      • +2

We used to recycle them after HDD/SDD is removed. Lenovo offered $70 for the last batch of Ts…

The coming round will be donated to charities… X series, similar spec with touch screen.

$400+ for such old machine is mad.

      • +2

Asking not to offend you but if we can source them cheap, we can offer then for cheap as well.

        • +4

I didn't neg you, and am not offended.

You run a shop and hence need to make money on top.

All I am saying is the spec for $450 is simply not worthwhile. Time has moved, and AMD made the laptop market a lot more competitive.

          • @Chinese: Yep they think can make a quick easy sale but none will be sold, stuck inventory and next 2 years this will be imposible to sell above 250

      • how much is rrp for this kind of laptop ? This is normal price you guys selling right?

        • The laptop is an old business fleet, RRP doesn't apply here lol. They're like, 1700+ brand new when they came out

          • +1

@Wonderfool: This is ozb not ozadvertising.

            • @HolyCr4p: Hey I'm not in disagreement. Just saying the retail recommended price isn't applicable here.

  • Is there much point getting the i7 over the i5? Same core and thread

    https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-8665U-vs…

There seems to be i5s under 300 eg dell 5400 on ebay

    • No. Intel has been slacking and barely any difference (benchmark and real world) between the 8th gen i7 and i5.

The last (personal use) T480 i7 8550u with 256GB that I have sold on eBay went for low $350 posted a year ago.

  • Please dont get this if below 300nits brightness screen. Bought one Lenovo back in 2019 with 250 nits screen, hated it and then the backlight keyboard wasnt working so got it refunded in about 30 days.

I got this other one a bit ago, for $315.

    • The CPUs aren't appreciably different.
    • The other has a touchscreen (I was looking for one)
    • This one has a higher min battery capacity at 85% vs 70% on the other. In practice mine's higher anyway but YMMV.
    • This one has a bigger SSD (512GB vs 256GB).
    • This one has no mention of LTE nor SD card support.
    • This one costs $130 more.

All up, I think the other one was a better deal. This one would have to be under $350 to be comparable.

    • Totally agree. Max direct peices is more reasonable than this shop

  • +2

This is too expensive fort 8th gen Intel
