Not sure I'd want to buy anything that is Ainol!

Once you go Ainol you won't go back.

    • Don't be so tight, give ainol a go.

  • Anyone bought this? Any good for ebooks?

  • Waiting for the GooPad Mini, updates seems to have disappeared but.

    • Same here. I'm giving all the 7" tablets a pass for the Goopad Mini

      • ainol or goopad - either way you better check the durex deal

Wouldn't recommend buying from buyincoins, I bought a Fire with a faulty screen (endless flickering), they offered an $8 refund or to send it back to replace at my own cost.

Australia Post won't post anything with lithium batteries and courier costs are more expensive than buying a new one. They know you won't send it back, as it costs more to send it back than what you paid.

Paypal will not help you as they will only refund money once you send it back at your own cost.

In short - if you buy from these guys and it is faulty they will not help you. Be warned.

Thanks for letting us know. Who are the recommended sellers of Ainol tablets then?

I bought my aurora2 from buys.com as have others with good feedback.same with gadgetgreat.com.

If you used Credit Card via paypal, ring your bank. Tell them that paypal isn't helpful and the bank will do a chargeback and ask the reseller to respond. Odds are, the reseller will backdown and refund or pay your shipping. Make sure you tell your bank that paypal isn't helpful.

Are you sure paypal insist you return at your own cost?

      • +1

the will lodge a dispute, not a charge back…

      • Hey Shawn_Low,

Looking at going down the chargeback path, not holding my breath after my experience so far but can't hurt to try. Have found buyincoins to be completely shifty in my (admittedly tainted) experience, from all reports after having a look online I'm not the first and they're not the only ones - caveat emptor and all that.

And to answer your question: yes, Paypal advised me on Friday that they will refund me the cost of purchase only after I have returned the product at my own expense, despite providing the info from auspost that they will not send it and confirmed courier rates were greater than the purchase price.

        • Hmm, maybe you could take out the battery and send back the rest? Wonder if they would notice or care?

        • lol yeah I considered that, but Paypal's condition is that it is returned 'in the condition it was first received' so assume they have to confirm the recipt condition before they released the funds. Considering my interactions with buyincoins thus far I couldn't see it ending well…otherwise I'd be sending them a modern day p-p-p-p-p-p-p-powerbook! - http://www.zug.com/pranks/powerbook/

    • Same here, except they offered me 15$. Seems a lot of Ainol products have issues, the way I see it is, that chances are it will be faulty so either keep sending it back to the reputable store you bought it from, or buy it from here and get an additional 8-15$ discount.

Obviously it depends on the fault, I bought an Aurora II and got the 15$ refund and then fixed the antenna myself for 3$. Flickering screens is more of an issue.

I can understand people whinging about busted parts, but that part of the blame goes on the manufacturer, surely a dealer can't open every sealed package.

Regarding the shipping, I'm not exactly sure what they are supposed to do above offer you a replacement if you return it? They would have to provide a faulty device to the manufacturer to get their end back, so it works just the same as anyone operates in Oz.

What people are complaining about is the fact they are in China and the shipping is so much. That sucks, but it's not really the problem of Buy in Coins is it? I don't see how getting it from anyone else helps? They can't be giving you refunds based on photos/video can they? That would leave them open to issues. If anyone has an experience happy to hear about them.

      • According to their emails, Jackson, they do check every tablet that goes out.

I don't think I have flung invective at buyincoins over my experience, rather I have tried to explain the pitfalls when purchasing via this method, and the fact that their customer service leaves a little to be desired.

Conversely, I have had a great experience with dealextreme with a faulty electronic device, which was replaced without question. Difference being, of course, that they have an Australian address for RMA products so I could send it back. Nonetheless, I was not subjected to the patronising questions, circular logic and bizarre stalling I got from buyincoins.

And yes you are correct, if you check my first post, what I am complaining about is that they are in China and the return shipping is so much, therefore if the item is faulty you have little recourse. I am glad you could work that out, though I am unsure if you are trying to diminish the value of that statement or support it?

  • Hi guys,

How is 7 inch tablet using it as an in-car GPS? Any recommendation for cheap one with GPS?

  • +4

I was looking to buy Ainol thingy before and horrified by all the touchscreen faulty issues being reported online.

I wouldn't bare the risk and will go to get a Nexus 7 instead…Yes it is more than double the price but I still will go for it just to make sure that I can go to bed without worrying about the touchscreen will be not responding in one day.

    • Nexus 7 hardly has a rep for high build quality.

      • I am really impressed with the build quality on mine. No idea what you are talking about.

      • Agree with you, I bought one and sold it as the speaker was dead out the box. Common issue with them. Trying to get anything from Google is pointless, its a pain in the rear to get an exchange done if you buy from them its worse.

    • +1

one day, everything will be not responding.

  • Been listed for 60 minutes and only two Aional jokes. Is this an ozbargain record?

    • I think we're probably just tired of making Ainol the butt of all jokes.

    • +4

Were you hoping for somebody to notice your OzB name? :)

    • Quality Ainol takes time.

  • Bought an Ainol Novo 7 when I was in China. Prices there are roughly 20-25% less than what you're paying on these sites.

Had two dead pixels out of the box and tended to heat up. Sold it.

  • I would suggest anyone after an Android tablet to go for the brand name ones. These chinese immitation is just ….

Think about it, it's cheaper to get a good one than a few cheap(bad) ones.

    Better for the Earth too.

    • +1

The Novo 7 is not an imitation of anything. It is the genuine product…

I know the saying 'you get what you pay for' rings true with these tablets, but I also believe it is possible to 'overpay for what you're getting'.

Case in point — iPad Mini. It costs $100 more than a Nexus 7 and from a technical point of view it's every way inferior to similarly priced competitors.

  • I bought one the other week when it was listed (was it mp4nation.net ?) and I reckon it's great value.

It doesn't feel anywhere near well built as a Nexus 7, nor is it as pretty, the screen isn't as good, the battery isn't as good and it lacks GPS and Bluetooth. In short it's a much cheaper tablet.

But for just over a hundred dollars it's a lovely device. I use it for giving presentations at work (Nexus 7 doesn't have HDMI out or an MicroSD card slot) and watching the cricket from my Slingbox on the sly. Being cheap, I treat it pretty poorly too and it's held up without any damage.

  • No idea about this seller, but if anyone wants to read up on Chinese tablets before they purchase, consider this site:

    http://www.slatedroid.com/

I've been looking at it recently (considering buying Ainol… but might hold out for the Hero or the Captain) and it's got some user reviews which are otherwise pretty hard to come by on mainstream tech sites.

Coupon works for the Fire model too. $144 after discount.

    • Snagged one too, be good to compare it to my nexus 7

    • What does presell product mean? Do they have it in stock?

  • Females love Ainol lol :p

Will have to pass this one as my coin collection is up to $2.75 at the moment.

So what i've gathered from all this is getting Ainol from buyincoins is a pain in the ar$e.

I bought two Ainol Auroa II tablets from Buy In Coins and one arrived with a damaged/faulty screen. They said I could send it back at my expense or they could give me $6 in compensation. I would send it back if AusPost would accept it, but other than that I think I am stuck with it. They reckon they inspected it before it was shipped so it must have been damaged in transit which is pretty hard to believe when you see how well they packed it and there is no visible damage to either the original box or the packaging. I think it might pay to be weary of Buy In Coins.
