I've been looking around for a new notebook for my Uncle and stumbled across this deal.
Terrific specs for the price range as this notebook should be able to play most games pretty well using the Nvidia GT 650M. It also included a 1600x900 which is reasonable screen resolution.

And I thought the HP ProBook that was just posted sounded good. This is a GREAT deal!

Nice price , the 6 - cell battery and the 1600x900 resolution do no justice to this 17 inch monster though

    • HO probook has 8 cell battery. both are quite good

  • does this have MXM so the gfx can be upgraded?

  • very good deal but no gigabit ethernet. It's as if they deliberately cripple these notebooks to discourage you from setting them up as a home NAS. I just want a cheap i7 notebook with gigabit ethernet and some basic dedicated graphics to use as a home server.

    • This has an i5, not an i7 too, before someone gets confused.

  • The picture shows a 15.6" but the advertisement is for a 17" laptop , just so ppl don't get confused.

    There's two
    one is 17" i5 $699
    other is 15.6" i7 $649

  • Hey I just bought the 15.6" one, does it have USB 3.0? Can't seem to find it mentioned in the specs.. thx

    • Probably.. but it wont have the fast GTX 650M

instead the 15.6" notebook will have the AMD Radeon™ HD 7670M DDR3 which is significantly slower than the 640M.

Making the GTX 650M 70% faster than the 7670.

They are both kind of crippled.. i did look at these laptops when i was buying a new laptop months ago and they dont look much better now.

      • It's a little surprising that it doesn't include a gigabit ethernet as it would have only costed slightly more on Dells behalf.

It can be easily bought for cheap as an adapter for anyone wishing to connect it up to there NAS.

  • BF3 @ 42 fps on medium settings, not bad.
