  • wondering if this one is portable hard drive? without power adapter. just plug into the usb port.

  • anyone know where to get a cheap firewire cable for one of these?

  • Damn it says out of stock to me :(

  • I bought 2 of these and they click like they're about to fail (like a click of death sound).

You sure about that? The click of death thing re Seagate drives is getting a bit old now.

If they are really about to fail, why not simply obtain a refund?

      • I'm a computer tech. I know what a failing drive sounds like. Already returned one.

The click of death may once have been a common problem for Seagate drives.

It's my opinion that these days it's more of an urban myth more than fact.

Being a "computer tech" did you run the SeaTools diagnostics on the drive? What code did it come back with?

        • -1

Couldn't be bothered testing it (it was so obviously faulty). I just returned the first one. The other I'm just living with so far as it's not as bad as the other. May return it if it gets worse or it starts to annoy me, or I get sensible about it.

There's no myth about the two drives I've had mate - they're duds.

I'll take your expert word for it ;-)
