nbn 25/10 $49.95 Per Month Ongoing (Free Static IP on Request) @ IT'S FUBAR

2650

Being loyal Ozbargainers ourselves, we've noticed the fact that there's been some interest in the low speed tier NBN plans of late. These are particularly appealing to users with low internet demands, or in many cases - great internet for the grandparents and their iPad ;)

Plan FY24 Price FY25 Price
25/10 $49.95 $53.90 ongoing

We know that many people believe these services shouldn't exist in 2024 - but plenty of people still find them great value as they're more than capable of coping with a single netflix stream, or cheap enough to pop in a holiday home, airbnb, etc. People keep buying them - NBN keep selling them!

While a few of our competitors are offering 25/5 and 25/10 services around the ~$50 p/m mark, most of them are for a limited period (e.g. 6 months).

Our 25mbit plans are $49.95 p/m ongoing - at least until the next NBN wholesale price change whenever that is (SEE UPDATE BELOW) … We also offer a static IP address on our services on request at no extra charge which can help with remote supporting ma and pa from time to time for our tech savvy lurkers.

Services are pre-paid month-to-month. Complete our sign up form, we'll process your order and send you a pro-rated invoice and activate your service same day Monday to Friday. We're a small family owned business down in Geelong aiming to provide kickass, on-shore customer service.

We can also offer a Netcomm NF18MESH preconfigured modem shipped to your door for $99 with our plans. Just let us know you need a modem in your order form.

Sign me up!

Please be aware you may not hear from us after your application (particularly if it's a while away!) until a week or so prior to your activation date. We prioritise dealing with immediate orders.

Update 01/06/2025: We have just received our final pricing back from our wholesalers, payment gateway providers, and other upstream providers for FY25. Unfortunately with a number of prices increase (not just on the NBN side), I want to ensure new customers are aware that our price as of next month will be increasing to $53.90 per month. We've been hit with nearly 10.5% cost increases on last mile connectivity alone which we simply can't absorb. This isn't just impacting us - various other providers have already announced price rises far greater than ours and there's a fair bit of industry chatter about this. I will provide an post in the coming days with a breakdown of all of our price increases as I value transparency and I know you all want the best deal.

      • Thanks digitale

Seems decent, that must be routing through a local aggregator here in WA

What's your experience been with streaming services? Did you notice and difference when switching from another provider to this one?

        • +1

It's not being used for streaming, so I can't give you a definite answer on that. But I just tried a few 4k youtube videos and they played fine - downloaded faster than being played; though they were popular videos so probably locally cached.

          • @digitale: Excellent, thanks for that, has swayed me, does seem like a good deal.

  • So when is the next NBN price increase? You say ongoing, but if thats in 3 months time, that doesn't make a very good deal. But if you could give us a rough idea of when its likely to go up, or how much time it normally takes to go up, that would be great.

Because atm, your a gamble choice. But I am tempted.

    • +1

NBN wholesale price changes normally align with each financial year. I wouldn't expect anything prior to then. There have occasionally been some surprise changes, but otherwise, next FY should be the next change from NBN's end.

As with anything I don't want to make promises and be blindsided by cost increases from other suppliers (e.g. backhaul, payment processing, etc), which is the reason for the vague answer I keep giving.

Chances are - nothing till FY25. I can't say with 100% certainty it's the case though, as I'm sure you can appreciate :)

      • your username scares me. If the world is FUBAR'ed and your a terminator surviving in that world :S

Serious note, cheers bro. Unless some crazy deal comes along, I'm most likely going to go in on the 25/10 as my understanding is that can stream 4k to at least 1 device at a time. Thanks.

Edit: I have FTTP, my room mate has Eero Router which I can't stand as it requires amazon account just to log into the settings. Am I ok using any old router (I've got a 5ghz one with wifi a/c so I'm hoping thats modern enough).

        • Yep as long as it has an ethernet WAN port you should be golden. Sorry for the slow reply!

          • @fubarnator: All good brother, it ain't easy getting rich. If it were, everyone would be doing it :P

But yeah thanks, be a customer in the next month sometime ;)

  • Hi, only saw your post now! (Where have I been in the past 2-3 months!)
Question I have is connection for someone in WA (Perth), I'm there and would like to sign up but from a quick read through the comments it seems like your infrastructure is all based in VIC.
I do casual gaming but when I do it's titles like CS, Overwatch, etc (FPS games where latency is crucial).

Any thoughts of how my experience might be if I were to sign up from Perth?

    • There is infrastructure in Perth - the simple way to explain it is we're moving to having our own infra in VIC - in all other states we "lease" equipment until we have enough demand to put our own equipment in that state. We definitely don't send everything back to VIC - that would be a terrible experience for all involved! Meg and I are both gamers ourselves - I was with an ISP once (many years ago) that routed me back to Sydney from Geelong, it was horrible and I refuse to do that to customers :)

  • Joined flip a few days ago for $39/month + $5.50/m static IP. Still waiting for them to apply it, will give them another day or two before switching.

Assuming no issues unblocking ports (inc 80 and 443) on ITS FUBAR?

    • No port blocking on our services :)

      • Thanks :) Flip managed to not drop the ball but only a promo price for 6 months. Will look to join this plan after that!

  • looking at switching to these guys from pronto because my 6 month promo runs out 24th Dec…will schedule in my 30 day cancelation notice there tomorrow…should I look at switching over to FUBAR around 22 Dec?

    • +1

We only run activations M-F 9am to 5pm AEST. 22nd of Dec is a Sunday. We could aim for the 23rd being a Monday, but my only concern there would be it's a tough time of year to get any support from NBN Co if there's a provisioning fault. I'd probably rather suggest aiming for the 20th, even though you'd have a few more days overlap. It'd give us a bit of room up our sleeves and people are more likely to be around if we needed to escalate anything (not likely, but just highlighting the risk!).

      • thanks for the heads up! no problem paying overlap to avoid any hiccips, so I'll shoot for the 20th or even 19th for an extra day of headroom. I assume I can schedule the activation date on the sign up form…

        • Just signed up, looking forward to getting onboard next month!

  • I'm sure someone's probably already asked rep but any chance at all you could get a decent price rolling on 50/20? Would churn ASAP for ongoing $59.95 haha

    • +3

Not possible unfortunately, it's well below cost. All other providers who are offering prices like that are doing so at a loss - not something we can do as a family business!

      • I was also about to ask about the nbn 25/10 but as a small family business its not easy…
Doesn't it cost you more offering free static IP`s?

        • +2

We need to own address space anyway in order to run an ISP - whether we provide an IP address that changes or not doesn't really cost anything, especially while we're able to survive without CGNAT. Our addressing costs are built into our overall product pricing.

  • Really tempted to get on this but also for $14pm more (after cashback) can get 100/20 from SL 12m deal.

I’ll move over to you after SL deal if you remain competitive on 25/10 or even 50 plan if you decide in the future.

  • Thanks @fubarnator - thinking of changing the parents over to this. They currently have a ZTE H1600 modem with their current ISP - can this be used on this and if so, do they need to do much changes to settings? As they are pretty tech challenged

    • PM me - this depends more on who their current ISP is and their address rather than anything else :) I'll need more information from you!

      • thanks - will do!

  • The name doesn't fill one with confidence, does it. FUBAR?

    • +1

Probably means you missed the humour in agreeing with our clientele who believe that I.T. is (as our name implies) FUBAR for many people who are less technically inclined :)

We may end up rebranding the residential side of the business eventually - but as it stands our origins are in IT support for industries that find this sort of humour funny.

      • Each to their own. I used to own an IT support company and I wouldn't risk it. If it works for you though, then onwards and upwards.

  • Thanks @fubarnator, got switched on the 28 december, having a great experience so far with good speeds (25/10), automatic payment process, receiving invoices, and nice phone support.

  • Just a quick update for those following along. The 25/10 is now our default plan as it's very widely available - we've migrated all remaining customers to 25/10 at no cost if they were on 25/5 and we're proud to say we no longer have a single active 25/5 plan. Thanks NBN!

  • Is there a tab in the client area portal where we can view daily or weekly data usage/quota? Under the Quota Usage tab, it only shows "AVC Utilisation - CSA Peak Hour 0 / 0.23 Mbps" which doesn't seem relevant.

Not a huge thing, but would be good to see how much data I've been using…

    • If unlimited, why does it matter :) I feel like this would encourage people to use more just for the sake of it

      • Was just interested in how much data I was using, after one more person living in the house since signing up…as I said, no biggie though

    • The quota usage shows your peak backhaul usage for those interested. It's pulled directly from NBN. We don't actually track data usage because it's frankly useless data to us and all of our consumers. You'd need to track this data locally on your modem/router if it's information you're keen on tracking.

  • Is anyone able to comment what latency is like from SE QLD?

    • Latency to what in particular? Happy to provide some data if you DM me.

      • Just wanted to know where traffic is routed if we are in SE QLD? Sydney I can probably put up with, Melbourne, eugh that gets a bit rough. I currently get 8ms ping to Cloudflare where I am on on the Sunshine Coast.

        • You'll route out via a BNG in Brisbane. I just ran a ping test from one of our managed customers in Mount Tamborine - 5 to 6ms on average to 1.1.1.1 :)

          Hope this helps!

  • Thanks OP, switched from Exetel and I didnt see any difference at all.

  • I recently moved into a new unit that hadn't been connected to the NBN network in a while. I decided to sign up for internet and tried several providers, including Exetel, Leaptel, and Fubar.

Exetel required me to provide the phone number linked to the telephone port, which was inconvenient. Leaptel took a long time to respond. But Fubar's customer service was excellent. They arranged for an NBN technician to visit and set everything up.

I used a used Telstra modem gen 2 that I had purchased separately, and it worked flawlessly within minutes. No configuration needed!

    • I greatly appreciate the feedback and love that you had a good experience!

  • Hi @fubarnator is there much involved to switch from TPG in WA? Would the modem setting etc all remain the same? I’m looking to switch my mum over, but would want it to be fairly smooth. Thanks!

    • TPG often use PPPOE settings which need to be removed, as we use IPoE/Dynamic IP. Typically, a factory reset of the modem is enough to take care of this!

  • Hi. Have been trying to switch from TPG for in laws and submitted online form but received no contact, or confirmation email. Left messages to ring back on 2 consecutive days now, just goes to voicemail.

Not a good first experience so far. If no contact in the next 24 hours may be better to look elsewhere as this may not be a good omen.

    • 😲

    • I believe we've been in touch now? Calls to our landline from unrecognised numbers redirect only to me as they're typically sales calls. When we're busy or I'm away from my desk these are truthfully the first calls we ignore as we would much rather miss a sale than a client fault as I'm sure you can appreciate.

      • Constructive Feedback: Most people these days have caller ID turned off so calls are going to be from unrecognised numbers.
Suggestion only: Perhaps consider an answering system with options e.g. 1 for Support, 2 for Sales, 3 for Sign-up issues and so on. These can go to associated VM mailboxes for priority call back when busy. Having said that, all are important so might not help if very busy? No simple option unfortunately.
        No reply necessary

        • +2

Yeah there's definitely no good answer. We actually had an auto attendant similar to your suggestion above for quite some time - customers got in the habit of just mashing the first option or calling back and trying every other option in the menu hoping theyd get a faster reply (which doesnt help as were a small team and it was the same staff answering all options).

Hence why we landed on caller ID recognition which integrates with our client portal. If we recognise the number it goes through to our support queue and if not - sales which comes only to me.

We only get one or two calls per month with no caller ID so it typically works pretty well apart from the odd occasion where we have a busy period and I'm out doing installations haha!

All takes trial and error but we may end up changing tact again in the future as we continue to grow.

  • Does switching ISP/RSP affect your NBN network setup? Currently have all devices on a designated IP and white listed. Will I have to set this all up again when changing RSP, especially don’t like setting up my solar inverter internet again

    • "all devices on a designated IP"…..like what or do you mean internal Static IP which is managed on your Router?

      • internal Static IP which is managed on your Router

        Yeah that’s the one.

I also assume the MAC addresses don’t change when switching either?

        • +1

Correct. Your WAN (NBN Connection) shouldn't have any affect on any of your (LAN) Internal devices in that regard. All should be well incl MAC addresses as they are also managed via Local Router.

A little off Topic: If however you changed your local router (or whatever you use for managing local devices IP Addresses via DHCP), then you would need to configure it to reassign the same IP addresses to your devices via DHCP and Static IP reservations (usually via MAC addresses).

For critical LAN IP devices, Consider configuring those with their own Static IP via their onboard LAN settings. That way even if Router is replaced, just ensure the new one is set to the same IP/Gateway IP as original. This way your existing critical internal (LAN) devices will show up as they already have their own preassigned Static IP's. OK there is a little more to it but hopefully you get the gist :-)

  • Switched to fubar recently from leaptel (who were great, but price went up $20 after 6 month deal). Switch was smooth and connection has been excellent so far (only two weeks). As others have said, the sign up is a bit clunky but I like the ongoing low price, so hopefully don't have to keep switching.

    • Appreciate the feedback. Our sign up process has improved a little in the last few days as we've implemented self-serve qualification as stage one of having everything in a single place :) https://my.itsfubar.com.au/nbn_sq

  • Your website is down. Cloudflare page says the host is down :/

    • Sign up etc area works fine in case needed?

    • Looks like our web host was having issues yesterday. Thanks for the heads up :)

  • Exetel just jacked my price up to $69pm (up from my special rate of $57pm), so I've signed up with Fubar. Anything I should be aware or prepare for? FTTC.

    • Same, @fubarnator are there any upcoming changes to your plans or should I hit the go button on this?

      • We're waiting on confirmation from one of our upstream providers on how the changes on NBN plan priced will be passed through. We might be able to absorb this years price change. Worst case it goes up to $50.95 per month.

This will be announced once we have clarity.

    • Not sure what you want to know which hasn't already been covered? Please be specific if you have a question!

  • My Exetel went up too from $52 to $69. Planning to switch to you guys. I believe I have to give them 30 days notice. Can I pre-order a connection from you to start from a set date (when my exetel plan expires)? I am not too tech savvy. Do I have to switch ports from my modem or from hardware wise everything remains unchanged and I just get service from you guys and simply start using it? Also, can you please confirm if the usage is limited or unlimited? Thank you :)

    • +1

Hiya - I might add an FAQ to the main post at some stage with some of these to make life easier.

      A) Shouldn't need to swap anything over unless your modem was using PPPOE settings because you were a very old exetel customer. Assuming you haven't been with them for a gazillion years, you should be fine. If you are on a very old plan, you may need for factory/pin reset your modem. We can help over the phone,

      B) It's unlimited.

      C) Yes you can request in advance. There's an option for it in our sign up form.

All the best & look forward to having you join up.

      • Thank you. Already gave them 30 days notice which ends 22 June 2025. Can I request connection from you guys from 20th which is Friday which will be two days overlap. I want to ensure no disconnection 😊

        • +1

          Yes.

  • Currently on 25/10 Belong FTTN NBN in Emerald QLD. They're about to jack up their prices again so looking at giving FUBAR a go.

    1. Can you confirm whether I'll be able to use the same modem that they sent me if I switch to your service?

    2. Is about a week enough time to process a change over from Belong to FUBAR?

    Thank you!

      1. No idea what modem they sent you but if you read back through the comments you'll see many people are using Belong modems with no issue.

      2. Yes. We can switch same day.

      • All set up and working! Just got Invoice #2, it says "If this is not your first invoice from us, this will be paid by Credit/Debit Card on 08/06/2025". Could you confirm that since I paid the very small three day (28th May -> 31st May) Invoice #1 via debit card that this means it should auto pay the full month of June's invoice on 8th June using the same payment method?

        • It certainly will.

  • These changes come into effect on NBN and Opticomm services on the 1st of July 2025:

    Plan Current New
    Consumer 25/10 $49.95 $53.90
    Consumer 50/20 $92.95 $92.90

    • 7.9% increase for 25/10 plan…

      • +4

I already updated the main post. We actually got hit with a cost increase of around 10.5% on the 25/10 across the various components that make up the service. We were able to negotiate reprieves on other areas of our costs in order to absorb a few % on the 25/10 ourselves. I did everything possible to keep costs down and this should keep us well in the realms of the cheapest ongoing plan based on the price updates we've seen announced so far.

We did our best to minimise the cost increase as much as possible but ultimately a lot of people have a misconception that the increase in the wholesale cost of the NBN tail is the only thing that increases - and frankly we weren't expecting to get hit as hard this year as we were based on previous FYs.

People see the ~$.70c increase in the NBN circuit and crack the sads about ISPs increasing prices further than just the tail charge - but it's the equivalent of complaining that a farmer increased the sale price of potatoes by 70c, without taking into account the trucking company who upped their prices, the increased costs of petrol, the storage warehouses who also want their CPI increases etc.

This year we got hit with the NBN tail price increases, plus payment gateway rate changes which we haven't had previously, an increase in costs to a few of our support agreements and license renewals due to all of the tarrif rubbish with the USA, plus APNIC and various other components that go into our services all wanted their slice of the pie which impacts our bottom line :(

        • Still great pricing and nice explaination as to how things work.
FYI Only and not as a comparison, Leaptels increase will be $2 on their 25 plan once they apply it so assume will be $71.95 (or $51.95 for first six months for new customers).

          • @Borg: Yeah it's kind of interesting to me that providers charging in the >$60+ dollar range for their 25mbps plans are even bothering with a price increase. I guess some of them absolutely won't even take a chance on having services that aren't making them $20+ per month when not on promotion.

This would mean they're charging ~$72ish per month after their promo period expires right?

            • @fubarnator: Partner is (was, we're switching over to you guys) with occom, and they jacked the price from $62 to $72

  • Signed up to the 25/10, overall was a smooth process, however I keep getting prompted to login to the client area. i.e. "press pay a bill" login, "view invoices" login etc. Unsure if it's a security feature or a bug, it took about 3 attempts in order to pay the initial invoice. This is Chrome on MacOS.

    • If you use the "Pay Now" link in an invoice email, we generate a one time link that can be used to access only that invoice page and nothing else. If you navigate away from the specific invoice payment landing page you'll be redirected to login to anything you click on.

Instead, if you need to view other parts of the portal you'd best login properly at my.itsfubar.com.au :)

      • I think I tried both options and it still triggered mutliple log in requests.

Just feedback on an otherwise very positive onboarding process.

  • Hi Is there a flat rate option available for landline number, such as $10 per month for unlimited calls?
