It's a commercial decision, they can make more money this way.
Yes for sure, gives it a limited lifespan. I watched the Cod3r replace the chips a while ago and pretty sure it was unsuccessful (maybe needs to be a set of cbips).

atleast it's expandable still not like xbox
Series X is expandable.
expensive proprietary adapter for speed
@BinChicken69: It’s literally just CFExpress with a custom partition.
@FujinShu: Oh wow, had no idea, no wonder!, i guess that was the idea behind it
@BinChicken69: You’re right, though. It’s expensive and uses proprietary partitions and possibly changes some connectors of CFExpress.
Even if you buy an adapter off AliExpress and put in your own SSD, it’s only a matter of time until Xboxes bar those devices.
At least the internal SSD is replaceable, but I hope that the next revision uses M.2 2280 SSDs.
crazy how low ssds have gotten, i paid 800 for a 4tb sata back in 2019
I am actually waiting for this one to drop to around $350 :-)
I am hoping for some good BF sales. This was $413 back in July so I would wait.
Also as much as I love the Samsung 990 Pro line due to their PC software I would currently lean towards the WD 4TB SN850X for $408 via Amazon Germany from Amazon AU until the 990 Pro drops back down.
Crazy you could get a NM790 that would suit most use cases for ~$270 recently.
Got 3 NM790s.. at 249, 269 and 299 respectively.. 2 for my PC and one for PS5..
Up until this point, nothing to complain..
Although SSD prices have gone up since early this year.. I would wait for them to come down a little bit..
I bought this exact SSD with heatsink in Jan 24 and paid $599 from UMART
Are there any 40Gbs SSD Enclosures that hold 2 or more SSDs ?
I believ what you wanna do there is buy two
Thanks OP. Bought two to run in SLI for my YouTube rig.
would probably wait for prime day in less than 2 weeks and see
When you chuck one of these in the PS5, is it only for games/storage or can you have the OS on it as well ?
I hate that the PS5 has soldered on storage rather than an included M.2 with expansion.
