    Woohoo, party like it's 1993

    What's a CD? :)

    • It's short for Change Directory.

      • That's even more ancient so a definite no. :)

I'm trying to be open minded here but I think it's time to move on. Can get a Clip for $40 that is 5* smaller and can hold 100* more music

    see http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87112

Yeah….not sure how this was EVER going to be a 2012 bargain.
Have you ever thought how inconvenient it would be to work out with? Running would be a whole new story.

    • +1

And it's available cheaper on ebay ($37.95+$10.46 shipping) for same model.

      • -8

        Lol at 59 cents cheaper.

  • +2

    +1 for old times.

    • plus delivery

      • +10

you can just jog there and pick them up…

Bought a 4GB MP3 player for $7 when it was on special at Aldi. It's tiny, convenient and can fit around 5x the amount of a normal 700MB. Not sure how this is a deal. Although I did smile when I saw the pic.. Takes me back to when times were simpler :)

    • +6

Does it play CDs? No? Well then what is your point?

      • +3

        Does it play CDs?

        yep, just use audacity…

        • Sorry, don't own a computer, just me and my discman. And iPad.

        • +4

          Cool story bruh

        • +1

Thanks brah. What I was getting at is that you can quickly and easily convert CD's into MP3's as per JV's post above. Whatever, I'm not going to waste my time with you brah. I bet you don't even lift.

Edit- Realised you weren't replying to me.. Left my post up for the $hits and giggles.

no one even uses these any more. They should give them away for free

  • +2

Saw a girl on the train with a portable dvd player and she was using it as a cd player.

These still have a place in society

    • +2

True, they'd be alright to giveaway.

    • +20

      Poor girl :(

    • yeh I agree - girls should be allowed in society

  • +1

honestly, I saw that price many times in DSE store….that's normal price.

  • The classic + sharing = plus……..thanks OP for memory.

  • +3

Lol anti skip technology which is perfect while working out. An MP3 player is perfect while working out! 1999 called. They want their bargain back!

    • +2

Minidisc bro, that was 99. In 94 this would have been awesome though.

  • -1

I would have to think before accepting this for free… Seriously, 49 freaking dollars for a CD Walkman?!

    • +3

Discman, you are so 1988, get with 90's

  • +1

    No. Just, no.

  • Target: Gen-Z.

Whats a CD? A shiny round piece of plastic to place cups on.

  • I remember buying this from Big W for $10 on clearance back in 2008… same look and possibly the same model

and I still haven't opened it yet.

  • -2

CD's sound better than mp3's and some people don't have the time or effort to convert and export all their music to an ipod or whatever.

Having said that, i would only buy a discman if it was a vintage Sony D50 in mint condition.

    it's a + from me anyway.

    • +1

hmm, maybe i shouldn't have been so quick with the + button, the same model is $5 cheaper at JB, including delivery.

      • +2

You probably got flamed for the time and effort of converting songs comment

      • I Lol'd at the review on that link to JB hifi:

"Because I am six foot two I had to turn the earphones sideways…" it then goes onto TLDR.

Whereas, I am under 6 foot so I use earphones the normal way!

iPods are like, you know, so mainstream…all the real hipsters have reverted back to Sony Walkpersons.

P.S. Speaking of retro, I love that you posted the deal on a Nokia. Aaahh, the memories…

  • I'm sick of all my electronics being able to be charged through USB. This sounds great because I've been dying to buy overpriced batteries again.

Edit: Or is this the wind up version?

  • +2

For a moment I thought Ozbargain was showing archived bargains….

  • +1

Hate to break it to you, but this is their normal price … got a few for work a few months ago, shortly after they were on sale for $39 IIRC.

  • +2

Much too high a price for outdated and obsolete technology, not an OzBargain!

  • They should be sold for $5-$10.

Just for clearance or something. Cannot think of any reason why a person may need one of these.

People who say CDs sounds better than mp3s, well, use flac or apple lossless then. You'll still end up with a much larger number of songs on your portable device with the same amount of fidelity as compared to a CD.

  • there are plenty of people who are technology cripples , god bless the discman…..makes me want to bring out my walkman again…..now where did I put those cassettes

  • A definite bargain……… two decades ago!
