$28 Oettinger Beer (24x 330mL) @ Woolworths

90

Hi all,

Went into Woolworths Liquor today and saw Oettinger Pilsener on sale for $28. Bought myself a slab. Got home to upload the receipt but found out that it's a general sale across the board at Woolworths.

It's $2 cheaper than that recent BWS beer sale and and is also cheaper than Dan Murphy's normal $30 price.

I've had it once before and it was OK from memory. Probably not the best out there, but at less than $1.20 a bottle it's pretty reasonable.

I think I saw Hollandia beer available at $33/case as well, but it's the same price as Dan Murphy's right now.

I prefer the 500mL cans. You can fit more in a smaller fridge space, plus no bottle caps for your friends to throw on the floor like the filthy animals they are. Case of the cans are $40 at Dan Murphys. Comes out slightly cheaper per litre. Cans = $3.33/L, this deal = $3.54/L.

    • any deals on the 500ml cans? i get thru too many bottles and the cans are better for me…

Not a bad deal. The beer is drinkable. Had 12 at a party last night and feel decent today.

    • that's a positive on the field test boys, send em out

German beer usually tastes good, but this beer is shocking. I had a case from Dan Murphy last year. Won't waste my money.

Normal price is $30, so this is not a bargain. Not even 10% off.

    These are better bargains:
    Bluetongue Premium @ $35
    Hahn Harvest @ $30
Ol Blue Ginger Beer @ $30

    • these are all Colesworth home brand beers I believe? except Hahn of course but thats not a good beer anyway

      • Nah Bluetongue isn't. Part of the Lion Nathan catalogue, I believe. No idea about the ginger beer.

Oettinger is a Woolies brand though.

        • Not exactly a woolies brand, as it is a real German brewery. In Australia it seems to be a woolies exclusive though.

It's one of the cheapest beers in Germany too, as they supposedly use a special technique to hasten the fermentation process.

    • Hahn Harvest is gross, really sweet.
Bluetongue, it's ok. But I would prefer Carlton Draft!

  • Not too bad of a Beer. The Bitburger that was on sale at BWS/WW liquor was better value at $30 down from $40 (25% saving).
BWS sometimes has 20% off beer every once in a while but has not had one in while.
