No brainer then. Do that and better than trade in.

  • Just back from Albury jb, no dice. But cancelling with telstra chat was a breeze, took 5 mins and they refunded the $99

  • +1

I signed up a couple of days ago, unfortunately did not do my due diligence of reading OzBargain comments regarding the $350 voucher. My wife signed up the following day after we scouted a store that honours the $350 GC promo and was successful. We also both managed to get the $99 refund from Telstra chat upon the first attempt. My tip would be to be polite and concise with what you want, make it as easy for the rep as possible.

  • For those that purchased 128gb model please confirm recepit includes gst amount for trs

  • -1

To those who successfully ordered in a Pixel from another store that had stock, did they give you another tax invoice on pickup?

The tax invoice I received at the time of placing the stock transfer does not show GST for the phone (GST = $0), saying it's not taxable which is unusual. I'm wondering whether that's just a quirk in the system and an updated tax invoice with GST included will be issued when I go to pick up the phone.

    • You can ask them for an e-invoice, you get a link via an SMS normally.

      • The e-invoice also shows the Pixel 9 Pro excludes GST (???)

      • What's the GST listed as on the tax invoice?

          • @star-ggg: As in, does it actually show ~$150? Mine says $0

It even states that the Pixel is excluded from GST for some strange reason

            • @dogsryummy: Sorry I gave you wrong info. It's not an official invoice. It's just a receipt for a pickup order showing amount I paid which doesn't have the GST component. Thanks for the reminder, I'm going to make sure I get the invoice for TRS when I pickup.

Edit: it would be the same process as when I pre-ordered the XL

              • @star-ggg: Thanks, that clears things up. I was worried that they messed up my receipt but this must be standard procedure.

                • @dogsryummy: Just picked up. The girl tried to wave me off saying the pickup receipt was the tax invoice but a salesperson overheard and generated an actual one for me. Don't leave the store until you are satisfied you can claim TRS.

                  • @star-ggg: Does yours say $0 subtotal but with the correct GST?

                    • @dogsryummy: That's the digital receipt. If it has your name on it should work. I also got them to print one in a better format which is more clear.

                      • @star-ggg: It sends digital receipt to e-mail, just show them the email. Think some people overthinking it, you don't get a tax invoice with your name anyway unless buying online. Sounds like they don't want to do it.

        • It's the same as always.
          10%

  • For those who got the $99 refund how did you get it? For my it shows as $99 credit in my boost app.

    • +1

I got it through the My Telstra account chat. Just go to Get help and message us. Then I simply just requested for the refund as I never used the service even for a day. I got a good rep the first time so I think I got lucky. They said - "I would like to let you know that with Autopay payment, we do not refund payments if you cancel the service after the payment. However, as a one time courtesy, we will refund the payment of $99 to your card. Please expect the refund to your card within 5 business days."
Guess if they refuse the first time you can try chatting again with a different rep.

  • Got the 128gb last week. No luck with $350gc but staff were nice enough to offer a $100gc instead. Also no luck with $99 refund (cancelled via JB chat then tried Telstra chat).

    • Try Telstra chat again.
With that and the $350 vouch the deal is $450 better
(Would have had to go first thing on the 24/10 for a that though, shame they have excluded it. Made the S24U deal pretty sweet.

    • Did you use the sim? ie put it in your phone?

      • I wouldn't if gong to cancel.

        • Yes, I suspect these people having difficulty cancelling have at least put their sim into the phone.

  • Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is the best phone I have ever purchased.

I am very happy. Fast and smooth.

  • +1

$99 refund received from Telstra for being a "long time loyal customer" (guess a cheapass boost prepaid counts as loyal lol)

Just stated I had a change of mind and requested the $99 refund.

  • +2

Got the $99 refund first go, no issues. Cancelled plan via JB app, requested refund via Telstra app (both live chat).

  • Anyone able to help out here? As I mentioned there, hopeless at calculating those things!

On another note, ordered one today but has to transferred from another store. Hazel 256gb. Pick up tomorrow or day after.

Not worried about cancelling before then as payment for the P9 has already been finalised and receipt issued (with IMEI inc). Will be given the $350 GC when I collect the phone. I got the $99/$1200 deal though, hence the gc inclusion.

Any recommendations for a hydrogel/tpu film screen protector? The Amazon ones don't review well.

  • I’ve noticed that on their Facebook page (I got this exact ad come up) they have not updated the t&c of this deal it doesn’t even say it excludes stacking with the 1700 off when you click the “gift card subject to t&c” link. Could you argue that it’s false advertising, and still request a 350 gc?

    https://www.facebook.com/share/p/Z5ZWtmyeu54drWxR/?mibextid=…

The gc t&c link that the it refers you to : https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360052939334…

    • The link is for outright purchase as it can be done online. If you are buying with Telstra phone plan, you need to be in person and it depends on the store (by luck) they will also give you $350 with $1700 offer.

how many times have people done this signup, cancel, refund successfully?

  • would it make a difference if i cancel the plan end of month? Or should i cancel it straight away?

    • Well are you going to use the data?
Better do it now and not even put the Sim in, but if you get refused the $99 refund then could use the data

  • So I picked up my phone over 24 hours ago, and just reached out to Telstra via live chat to cancel the plan and refund the $99, which they quickly did. No mention of the $800 termination fee though - what am I missing?

    • They will bill you and you can find an invoice in the jb ap in a few days ,
or you can wait ten business days and they will just bill your account that you paid for the first month with.

      • Okay, fair enough.

Out of curiosity, why did you neg the deal?

  • By accident ,
    Couldn’t seem to undoit.

      • I also just figured this out this week lol, but I think you may only have a certain period of time to remove a neg

      • +1

        Well look at that,
        Free at last.

  • Anyone have any luck in Melbourne western suburbs of late in terms of $350 gift card + stock?

Also I wonder if there'll be a similar deal on the Pixel 9 Pro XL during Black Friday?

    • The fact that the guy specifically mentioned this ozbargain post before we even started going through the paperwork would imply that the $350 bonus gift card offer is well and truly over… He told me he himself actually managed to get it as he signed up straight away before they withdrew it

      • Just wait for the Pro 10, you would hope it would be something more special and get rid of the cheap chrome bumper and ugly camera bar!

    • Actually any part of Melbourne, anyone got lucky with getting the giftcard. Sharing is caring :)

  • Did anybody do the $400 trade in, the $99 refund, and get the $350 giftcard.
If the payout cost was $766 then this would have made the phone essentially free .

Might actually be worth trying for this .
I know they’re still doing the giftcard up here ,
is the trade in value not stackable?

I’ll give a store a ring tomorrow about this.

    • Can't stack, pays to read the fine print.

      • I did read it, a week ago.
whether or not I can remember the details again is another story.
And no-one has actually pulled this feat off?

  • -1

If you cancel the plan straight away and $865 will this affect your credit score?

    • -2

      Ruined for life

    • What if I said yes?
Just do it and don't worry, the deal relies on it.

  • No gc at marsden park nsw

  • Can someone confirm exactly when this ends? 11:59pm on Wednesday, Nov 6?

    • Nov 6 yes, but technically when the store closes

  • No gc at mt druitt nsw

    • That's interesting - I lgot GC from this store just couple of hours ago.

      • Really??? The sales rep told me that some email from regional manager to stop gc

        • My rep said he can't promise and it depends on the counter staff but he would try their best. He was fully aware that GC is not eligble and also showed me T&Cs on their website.

Once I signed up, they had a chat with counter staff and had no issue in getting the GC.

          • +1

@Ash-Say: Thats just luck of draw as i was refused outright. May be i wasnt nice enough 😀.

  • Been told that not only will you not get $1700 for refunding the 256gb unit, today is the last day you’ll get $1200 for it. If say tomorrow the offer reverts to $800 gc, you’ll only get $800 gc

  • +1

    Just wait for the s25u

  • I was offered the GC in Melbourne recently and jumped on the deal. Signed up, paperwork done and my rep went to ask his boss where to get the GC from.
Boss informs him of the mistake. I had already signed up. End up negotiating a $147 discount on 256gb model in lieu of the $350 GC.
Phone was out of stock so I had to go to a different store to collect.
Sales girl tries to force a $350 GC onto me. I tell her I am not eligible and received a discount instead.
Manager intervenes and agrees but I almost scored $350 GC + $147 discount which would have been epic.

    • +3

Your fault for not getting the GC when the girl tried to give you. You should have not uttered a word at this stage.

    • +1

yeah why would you say no to a $350 GC, a lot of people got it.

  • Checked on the Adelaide Store. Definitely no gift card with the zero dollar up front $99 plan. The sales assistant said yes last week they were handing out the $350 gift card even on the $99 plan but not the case now. I am sure JB will offer the plan again soon and next time I will jump on it sooner. I saw it last Friday when I was in the store and at the time the assistant told me that the gift card was included in the $99 plan and even said it was an amazing offer.

    • I reckon after this saga, many would have come to attention that the gift cards are not stackable. So for the next promo, most managers/sales assistant would have known about this and not hand out gift cards in the earlier "confusion" period.

    • Maybe see what they do for the S25 Ultra and grab that the first day or so.
I only just got the S24 but would appreciate the rounded corners.

  • Mate just snapped this up with the gc at JB Perth City.

    • What ?? In Ennex ?

      • Forrest chase. That is the only one that still exists I think in Perth.

        • Been awhile not getting to GPO

  • Any psychics out there know if I should wait and see what Black Friday has to offer?

    • +1

      Yeah, 100% 🔮

    • Well this deal ends 11/12pm tonight so you don't need to be a phycho to wait if you haven't decided by then. Doubt it would be as good a deal with the hack, but may be some better outright prices around.

    • +1

No BF deal will beat this "hack"……i would jump in before it's over if you are seriously considering this phone.

      • Agree but sounds like no stock of 256GB and no $350 GC. Could wait for the P10 Pro if you have a pretty decent phone already.

  • Spewin I got it when it came out. Could have saved a few bucks

    • May as well go and give it a shot.
They may be able to source one depending what want

  • I ordered the 256GB Rose Quartz, but it wasn't available in the store so will be shipped in a week or two. Should I cancel the plan immediately for the $765 charge plus a $99 refund, or should I wait until the phone is delivered?

    P.S. didn't get the $350 GC

    • the longer you leave it the less likely you get the $99 refund

      • If I do want the refund and cancel it right away, will it affect my order in anyway? As I haven't collected the phone and may take another 2 weeks or so

        • +2

Right now you have a SIM plan with Telstra and a phone order with JB. The 2 don't care about each other anymore. However, if JB for some reason can't supply your phone and you need to reverse the whole transaction then I don't know how that would work if you already paid out the Telstra contract.

    • +1

Wouldn't matter but just don't use the Sim at all.
Although I think you know the answer, for piece of mind sooner is better than later and they don't care about the physical handset.

Just so it anyway, they won't cancel it as it's hard to even get a refund haha.

PS I read it costs $400 to make the P9 Pro. The markup is huge.

    • Is it being shipped from another store or from supplier? I had mine shipped from another store and cancelled the plan straightaway.

      • From another store straight from QLD. I'm in NSW

  • anyone find a good case for pixel 9 pro that can charge with a magsafe power bank?

    • +1

I got this one, seems to be working well and charges at 18w with a $50 note folded in half under the case too
      https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0D986WG88?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_f…

      • Which MagSafe power bank do you use to get 18w? I'm only getting 3w with that exact case and a mous one

        • Oh thats not a power bank, its my bedside magsafe angled holder plugged into a multiport gan usb hub that displays the wattage. You probably need a 20-30w PD capable powerbank
