Proactive Action - Xiaomi (& Other Chinese Brands / Import) Phone Owners Affected by 3G Shutdown (Now Due to Be Network Blocked)

UPDATE 1/11/24 - Response from grey import seller after I contacted them regarding a Redmi Note 12 that is no longer working. (Of course I know it is not their fault, but this is a good way to get more pressure on Xiaomi to do an update, and to put pressure on the government to whitelist"
"We have investigate the issue comprehensively and follow up instantly with distributor and ask them to push Xiaomi to resolve the issue. After our best endeavor, as of 31 OCT, Xiaomi confirm that their device is actually capable of emergency calls over 4G or 5G. This is an compatible device. However, the disconnection results from new ACMA regulations effective October 28, 2024, requiring carriers to restrict devices that can’t support 000 emergency calls over 4G or 5G from accessing their networks. It is out of our control. It is a government, manufacturer and network provider level. They recklessly blocking usable phone regardless of compatibility. They block for most phones that not purchase from them or from their partners and force you to buy a new one from them.
Meanwhile, we are pushing our distributor to communicate with manufacturer for updating the list and there are news that a firmware update will soon launch from Xiaomi."

UPDATE 30/10/24 - Please also email
[email protected] as we now have some traction

  • After multiple emails I finally got a NON-standard response! Hope is on the horizon! If this ends up working, you all can shout me a beer (or preferably a non-alcoholic and refreshing beverage)!

"Hello, Greetings from Xiaomi Customer Support! This is Eric.
Thank you for your feedback. We have noticed this situation, and concerned team are working on it. Please wait for the system update.
We would like to know if your device is only unable to use the emergency call function normally, but is able to use other functions normally, or if it has no signal/service at all. Once we have your feedback, we will get back to you with proper handling.
Best Regards
Xiaomi Global Email Service"

SUMMARY

  • Certain 4G and 5G phones currently working on VoLTE may be actively blocked through a government directive after 28th October
  • These are usually grey import phones that revert to 3G for 000 emergency calls
  • There are a lot of people ignoring the annoying text and voice messages on their phones, thinking "My phone IS 4G/5G, I am not affected"
  • Come October 28, there is going to be a tsunami of shock and anger

Oct 24 last minute legislation to block 4G and 5G phones that revert to 3G for 000 calls
https://www.legislation.gov.au/F2024L01353/asmade/downloads

Banana3's Summary (READ THIS FIRST to understand what the issue actually IS, instead of spouting "3G shutdown has been announced for years…")
"Again, the issue is not whether 3G should be shut down or not. I think most people in this discussion agree that it needs to be shut down. The issue is that a few years ago the communication was: as long as your phone supports 4g, then you should be fine. Then earlier this year: No, 4g alone is not going to cut it, you need to have a phone that supports VoLTE. Then: Wait, actually, not just any VoLTE, only those that the network allows your phone to use (yes, Vodafone told me that when my perfectly working VoLTE phone stopped working after they shut down 3g). Then on the last minute: Oh wait, actually, not just that, your phone also needs to be able to call 000 on 4g by default. None of these have been properly planned, or thought of, or mitigated. It's all just a big mess. If anyone is confused, it's not their fault."

            • @AdrianW: Isn't Kogan a grey marketer ?

              • +2

@chrisie: I guess so. But does it really matter? They're an Aussie company trading in Australia so they have to follow ACCC rules.

The grey market is probably the only place you're going to get a POCO ATM any way.

    I don't give a F if I can't make 000 calls— I DO NOT CARE. I CAN make EVERY OTHER CALL.

This BS money-grab is just that, BS.

    This just in!!!

NO ONE USED TO HAVE A PHONE WITH THEM AT ALL TIMES AND IT WAS FINE.

I want to join a complaint that states I/we should be able to opt-out of 000 calls and keep our damned mobiles that work for the other 99.9999999999999999999999999999% of calls!

    • +1

I agree 100%. They should have just allowed the phones to continue to be used, they'd have gotten replaced naturally over the next few years anyway.

But some other idiot will chime in and say - "but what if someone else sees your phone and want to use it to make a 000 call?"

Latest from Xiaomi….I've sent repeated emails to ask them for a SPECIFIC DATE for releasing an update, but they won't provide one. I've explained that's no use to me, as my phone (Mi9T) will be blocked by Lebara (Vodafone) by the end of the month, maybe today, maybe next week (already blocked by amaysim(Optus) and Aldi (Telstra)).
Xiaomi Support; "Rest assured that we'll assist you on this (I'm not at all assured)…..We suggest that you patiently wait for updates on your device (ha ha). If there are available updates to solve your problem, the system will push them to you in a timely manner.(I don't believe you) Also, please note that the difference between the region where the product was purchased and the region where it is actually used may prevent you from receiving the system update."
I do believe they will update some phones, but not necessarily before they are fully blocked, which seems likely end of this month, and not necessarily older/foreign bought models. My Mi9T is only ok on Telstra, according to https://www.telstrawholesale.com.au/3G-Network-Closure-Block…, but confusingly, blocked on aldimobile which uses Telstra. I'm assuming Telstra is wrong and the phone isn't 000 compliant. Black Friday might be arriving just in time….

    • my phone (Mi9T)

Well at least it looks like it was released and sold here? So you have a better (non-zero) chance of getting an update if there ever is one versus the rest of us that bought overseas off aliepxress etc lol.

  • My RM Note 9 Pro is working on Vodafone but not on Optus. Lucky I'm just using as spare.

    • Same here with Redmi Note 5. Only time will tell though. Most likely even Vodafone will block.

My phone Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G Global version, 23090RA98G, HyperOS 1.0.5.0.UNOMIXM, TAC: 86730207 In the suposed whitelist on https://xiaomitech.com.au/.
Listed above as Testra Ok / AMTA (Check)
Phone was blocked sometime yesturday on Optus as 11pm I did a reboot after only two days of owning it was nearly sdropped out a day before.

For a $600 from Xiaomi Aliexpress official store / one JB sells for $900 is a shame for someone without much money on government support etc to just throw that down again on a new phone.
My Fossibot DT2 tablet which I bought from Aliexpress works fine.

Shame that the TAC's they provided may be cut off at any moment as I checked the model numbers if they were compatible before buying.

I am willing to do a news interview for anyone if they want.

    • +1

Optus has been very aggressive with blocking. Pretty much every device not destined for the AU market has been cut off. There has even been talk of all 3 network providers eventually amalgamating their whitelists into a single whitelist.

      • There has even been talk of all 3 network providers eventually amalgamating their whitelists into a single whitelist.

Whether it is a blacklist or whitelist, it will be a single list by the end of the month because that's how the legislation is setup

If Optus allowed a phone that was banned by Telstra and Vodafone:

        • Optus customer makes a 000 call
        • Phone cannot connect to Optus tower because Optus coverage is garbage
        • Phone auto bounces to Telstra or Vodafone tower
        • Phone connects to Telstra or Vodafone tower but is TAC banned
        • 000 call is not connected
        • According to some OzBargain members, Optus customer should then "find another solution" like wave down traffic, shout for help etc

Xiaomitech has about 2 weeks to get the mass TAC bans reversed by all 3 carriers

If that fails, Xiaomi as a brand in Australia is finished

They could have easily setup a trade-in/buyback/swap program to avoid the mountain of e-waste created and provide some certainty for customers

But that would imply they were a brand that didn't cut corners, take your money and then do a runner when they were exposed

        • +4

Xiaomi as a brand in Australia is finished

I mean are we even a drop in the bucket for them in terms of overall global sales?

    • +1

If you can get a refund, JB is selling the same phone now reduced from 900 to 717.. so you could just get it there…

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/xiaomi-redmi-note-13-pro-…

      • Bought from Xiaomi Mi Store on AliExpress.
Is the global version so should be much the same as what JB is selling mby the IMEI TAC code is different but may not be.

So don't think I can refund it.

        • Your TAC is the same as the ones destined for AU. So if yours is blocked, a similar phone with the same TAC from JB will get blocked as well.

    • I bought the exact model from Ali xiaomi store but ended up canceling the order before it shipped out.
Phone had one of the whitelisted TAC's given by xiaomi but when i checked with optus and vodafone they say it will be blocked. Only exception was Telstra. So ended up canceling the order.

What a mess. My parents came back from New Zealand earlier this month,

    • My dad's old Huawei Nova 3i got blocked by Telstra Wholesale (on Everyday Mobile). So he went and bought an iPhone 15 Plus.
    • My mum's Poco F3 can't make/receive calls but can still receive text and has data over LTE. Fixed after turning on VoLTE & VoWIFI.

Now I am afraid that her Poco F3 might eventually get blocked, and I'm not around to fix it for her. Meanwhile my OnePlus 6T bought in Jan 2019 is still working.

  • Hi guys, my Note 11 Pro 5G from Ali is still working fine with Amaysim. What's the deal? Can i safely assume it's all good? I still keep getting messages saying saying it's impacted though.

    • No you definitely can't assume that, especially if it's getting those messages. It will prolly be blocked sometime soon - although tbh you cant assume anything right now.

I notice spectronic posted this (basically piggybacking on xiaomitech):

      https://spectronic.com.au/3g-shutdown-update-for-xiaomi-user…

      • Thanks. Dang my phone's IMEI is not on the list.

    • Don't assume,my Redmi note 9 worked up until two days ago on Optus, now it's blocked.

      • Thanks for sharing.

  • This isnt new but i hadn't come across this story either, second one in the ABC about this whole shemozzle. They are the only ones to have reported on it whatsoever, i believe:

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-11-04/australian-4g-5g-user…

  • I have a Xiaomi 13 ultra global version with one Telstra sim and one Optus. Optus says my phone is fine while Telstra keeps annoying me saying my phone is not compatible 🤷‍♂️

  • +2

My Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus Global is working again on Optus as I thought I'd try the sim again out of interest.
Mby a temporary block or something or someone with power complained about this model.
Showing VoLTE Wifi now I don't think that was there before.

    • +1

Yeah also experienced the same with a F3. I had my SIM in a different working phone though so not sure if it just takes them a while to refresh the IMEI and block me again in a day or something. When the block wave started happening I remember seeing comments on reddit about people getting it working again by taking out then reinserting their SIM though I could never replicate it nor the airplane mode VoWIFI method.

      • Was swapping between devices and no change.
Even tried my Redmi Note 9 Pro EU LTE phone not connected on sim for a week and that didn't even connect so strange.

So this refresh IMEI leads to more thoughts like how many devices they log on your account over 24/48 hours, the drop off when they get removed.
How quickly a device send the IMEI after connecting (I would have thought as soon as it connects it verifies)

    • My Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus Global is working again on Optus as I thought I'd try the sim again out of interest.

What are the first 8 digits of your IMEI number?

      • +2

        That was my bad.
It was using my home internet to connect.
Once I walked from home just how it dropped off once I was away from my wifi.

My IMEI is above and again 86730207

Looks like JB is selling bricked Redmis out of the box, just saw this review from within the last day:

    Not suitable for AMAYSIM customers
I'm completely frustrated with the product without network coverage with AMAYSIM. Contacted Xiaomi global services several times, getting not a positive response to replace mobile phone

No, I do not recommend this product.

    • +1

Wouldn't surprise me as I didn't check JB for the Redmi 13 Pro Plus tac codes on the version of my phone they were selling, but feel they may be the same as I think they have the EU model, I have Global model.

I went and got a Samsung A55 slightly more expensive unless you for your Redmi at JB then that's slightly higher, has a couple less features camera 50 instead of 200 (more pixels don't suddenly make a camera better), slightly lower screen resolution, Only 128gb instead of 512 GB but main thing is it works as is the equivalent model ballpark so to say.

      • yeah i was looking at that same phone just a few minutes ago at Amaysim haha.. i think im in the same kinda budget and phone range as you, thankfully i can wait a while and see what happens when the dust settles; i would like Xiaomi to have their phones unblocked but it's looking like a bit of a pipe dream atm.. unfortunately this may be the end of them in Aus, which is a shame cos i've had (and got for my family members) Redmis for a long time cos they have always been such good performance for price.

        • +1

Once the dust settles I don't think telco will bother to block new phones. In a year time no one will even talk about the 3g shutdown anymore. I won't be buying any new phone until 2026 to be safe.

          • +1

@samehada: I'm not so certain. Australia appears to be unique in it's standard for emergency calls. There's no local manufacturer and a huge volume of gray imports. Expect continuing pain.

Poco X4 GT supposed to be fixed around 2 weeks ago according to Telstra rep by phone. Just lost Volte again after ota security patch update and reboot. Going through absolute nonsense with Telstra app chat asking me to phone them. Told them I couldn't so they asked me to go to a Telstra store. Totally different to previous "fix" . Advice changes from chat to chat depending on bot/ operator. It's a fiasco.

Looks like the Telstra Wholesale page has been updated since I looked at it last.

The API now returns the market name for the device (Ie. Brand and model name/number), and a number of different responses regarding it's status.

Someone on whirlpool commented that they were notified by Amaysim that the previously blocked Redmi Note 13 Pro has since been cleared and should now work. So it seems like things are being updated in the background?

    • Yesss !! This is what i was hoping for!

Based on updated information from the manufacturer, your device, Redmi Note 13 Pro + 5G on…..will no longer be impacted by the 3G shutdown. This means your device will connect to the Optus Network and will work as normal.

To ensure it connects, you just need to switch your airplane mode on and off.

Do we know if they got their phone from AliE or JB, if it had a whitelisted TAC?

      • You'll have to reply or pm them on whirlpool. But if Optus is doing this after receiving specs from xiaomi themselves then it'll prob only be models that were sold here locally, right?

  • +3

A friend just forwarded me this email.

    Hey xxxxxxx,

Due to the recent 3G network shutdown, your device was mistakenly flagged as unsafe and blocked. Our partner, Optus, has now corrected this, so your device should work as usual.

If it’s still not working, please try resetting it by switching your device off then back on.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused

    Thanks,
    The Dodo Team.

He had previously been advised that he needed to purchase a new phone (which he already did) and was asking me if there's any way he could seek compensation as he feels he was mislead into making an unnecessary purchase.

Anyone here been in this sort of situation? Any way for him to seek compensation?

What model phone was it? Wonder if an entire batch has now been whitelisted or just one.

  • I'll check my 13 Pro + phone later tonight and report back.

    • and?

plz we need details omg, where did u buy it, is it TAC whitelist, etc cmon mate give us details lol

  • Yep my Note 13 Pro + is working now.

Wonder who complained if JB had a say in it as it is a currently sold flagship phone.

So choice now is this Samsung A55 or switch back over to the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus.

    • +2

lol why would u even ask this, the Redmi shits all over it in every single category

actually, sorry, the Redmi is terrible, i'll take it off your hands for a decent price?

      lol

  • Gah this is annoying. Still getting messages my phone will be impacted. Xiaomi Note 11E 5G but it's still working right now with amaysim. Spoke to Amaysim, said the same thing. Do i go out and get another phone now or what as there are sales going in.

  • +1

Optus blocked my phone but Telstra is whitelisting it. I found out by trying someone else's Telstra sim card. I even tried calling 000 without any issue (I apologized and explained right away before hanging up, because it's really worrying not knowing if I can call them once I switch). The phone is a Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro, a chinese grey import, not even a global model, released in april this year (2024).

    • +1

Thought it works the other way around ie optus uses a whitelist while telstra and voda use blacklists?
If you're gonna call 000 just don't let it get past the end of the voice recording preamble.
Also are you actually sure your phone wasn't connecting by dropping down to a 3G band? Need to use one of the apps listed in the article below to monitor and verify.
      https://medium.com/@jamesdwho/the-little-known-problems-with…

      • Thanks for the link!
That was my first time calling 000 and I didn't mean to speak to them just for it to ring but it connected pretty fast and I didn't even prepare what to say, just said sorry I was trying to test my phone…the whole thing didn't last 20 seconds.

I know it's not scalable and shouldn't be done, but with the amount of misinformation out there and optus and telstra not behaving the same way with my phone, it was either test or buy an overpriced underspecced phone all while throwing away a perfectly functioning one.

Btw, how can my phone be dropping to a 3G band if the 3G is out already?

        • if the 3G is out already?

True, I had forgotten how much time has already passed since this started and they must've completed the progressive shutdown across the country by now?

            • @ousema: Since you've already went the length of calling 000 might as well shoot Optus an email or complaint about how your model works. Maybe they'll eventually get around to verifying it themselves or adding it to their whitelist lol.

              • @vawiyoci: I did chat to them right away about it, they wouldn't hear. I also emailed Xiaomi (global) about it. At least they seemed to listen and got the details to forward to the team in charge. The funny thing though is that their initial answer was to tell me my phone was not capable of 000 over 4g. Makes you wonder who actually knows anything in this business.

                • @ousema: Xiaomi didn't just give you some scripted copy paste response?

                  • @vawiyoci: That was their initial reply, a scripted "buy the phone that's designed for the global market, the chinese won't work for Australian 000" but then I did that test and got back to them with the condradicting result, that's when they took it seriously and recorded the case for the relevant entity…
It left me with a poor impression of their customer service.

    • +3

      WTF??

You called 000 to test and actually spoke to them?

That's not what 000 is for.

If you are genuinely worried about calling 000, get a new local phone that can call 000 on ANY network.

  • Merged from Xiaomi Mi 9T and Xiaomi POCO X3 - Both Blocked ?

    Hello Friends,
    Please help with this situation.

Parents were overseas for sometime and after returning we found both phones are not working now on their CATCH CONNECT mobile sim.
    SIM Status shows "No Service".
    .
Xiaomi Mi 9T Dual SIM (M1903F10G) - Bought in 2020.
    Xiaomi POCO X3 NFC (M2007J20CG) - Bought in 2020.
    .
I used two portals to find out if a phone has been blocked or not….

    https://www.telstrawholesale.com.au/3G-Network-Closure-Block…
-> For Xiaomi Mi 9T : it shows Good news – this phone is not blocked.
-> For Xiaomi POCO X3 : it shows Oh no! Your phone is not compatible and has been blocked.

    https://amta.org.au/3g-closure-old/check-my-device/
-> For both phones it shows: CHECK. Please contact your service provider or handset vendor, as your device may not be fully supported when 3G closes.
    .
Can someone please confirm if these both phones will no longer work with any local mobile sim provider? Or I should look for some other SIM than Catch Connect? If so which?
If you have same phones please comments.

    Thanks for your help.

    • Catch Connect is Optus and they have been a bit harsher in blocking than others. Obviously the one that the telstra checker says is okay will prolly work on a telstra reseller so you could try that.

The answer is there is no clear answer, that's why there's such confusion, it might work on some network and not others and since there's only a generic AMTA checker and a Telstra checker, that's all we can go on. I wouldn't hold out huge hope given the age of the phones, though…

    • Same situation as you here but with a Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro. The telstra checking page was accurate with my phone, I borrowed a telstra sim and got service. Sooo I'm switching from Catch Connect(optus) to Boost (telstra).

  • Anyone have any experience purchasing from Spectronic ? Are they legit and okay to return to if an issue? Looking at buying the below:

    https://spectronic.com.au/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-13-pro-p…

which i think should now be unblocked according to recent info but would like to know i can return if need be. JB selling the same one for 900, u can get it for about 500 on ali.

    • +1

Bought mine is AliExpress Mi Store and it's working now last I checked.
I'm awaiting the HyperOS 2 before properly switching over to it.

      • Thanks for the info! Are you with an Optus reseller, or?

        • Got mine of Mi Store from AliExpress.
I think it may be the official mi store I'm not sure.

My phone was matched in the tac of that Australian reseller list.
From what I've learned the tac the first 8 numbers is the phones model.

So the global version of Redmi 13 Pro Plus is fine now after that mistaken (or not) block.

          • @drguild: Thanks for that. Which phone provider are you with, is it someone on Optus network or Voda or Telstra, can i ask?

  • +3

Xiaomi Mi 9T with Boost (Telstra) seems to be working today (10 Dec) noticed VoLTE symbol showing up & after a reboot phone can make and receive normal phone calls (don't know if 000 works or not).

Previously only data and texts worked, had VoLTE enabled but no VoLTE symbol and couldn't make or receive voice calls.

  • Has anyone had success with the Poco f3 working ?

    • +2

My F3 works with no issue on Kogan (Vodafone).

      • Thanks
Wish my f3 would work with (Aldi) Telstra.

        • Is that with VoLTE and VoWiFi enabled? I thought the F3 worked on Vodafone and Telstra going off of other people's experiences online

          • @ShowTekk: Yes both VoLTE and VoWiFi enabled

          • @ShowTekk:

I thought the F3 worked on Vodafone and Telstra going off of other people's experiences online

Yeah if you use their own checker it's passing.

            • @vawiyoci: I guess that checker is completely pointless then lol

        • I've got an F3 that works fine with an Aldi SIM. At least it was when I last tried it in late November. It's got a custom ROM with Android 14 and the latest firmware which could make a difference.

          • @Dacs: Mines on a custom ROM too and working, so you might be right

      • @ShowTekk is yours the global version, UK version or other?

        • I bought it from Kogan so I'm guessing global.

With the upcoming Optus-Vodafone network sharing deal, I wonder how Optus will explain blocking some of these devices claiming LTE non-compliance when the same devices connects to Vodafone (using Optus infrastructure) just fine?

    • My Poco F3 (UK version bought from Amazon UK):
      - is blocked on Optus
      - can't make or receive calls on Vodafone, but can do everything else. No Volte symbol on the top line. I have already disabled the carrier check for both Volte and Vowifi, and restarted the phone a few times. Texting 3 to 3498 says phone is compatiable with their 4G/5G network.
      - appears it will work on Telstra (haven't fully tested yet, but a $2 sim card shows the Volte symbol, and not blocked according to the Telstra phone checker.

Does anyone who has the Poco F3 (UK version) can make and receive phone calls with vodafone or their MVNOs?

I'm hoping to stick with vodafone since I get better reception with them compared to Telstra, living in metro area. If not, might have no choice but to switch over to the Telstra network.

I think you might have the same issue I had, volte and vowifi don't actually enable after disabling carrier check and enabling them in your settings. I had to flash a custom ROM (Xiaomi EU ROM) for volte and vowifi to actually activate, after that everything worked fine.

        • Thanks for your reply. I've never flashed a ROM on my F3 or any phone before - i'm not very tech savvy haha. i'll look into it, hopefully it's not too hard to do.

@mttb123: No worries, Yeah it was the first time flashing a ROM for me too. I'd recommend flashing the EU ROM like I did, It's the most straight forward option as it's just a debloated MIUI and comes with everything you need. The specific ROM I flashed is (Xiaomi EU V14.0.8.0 TKHCXM V14-13) and works fine without any additional installs.

Just got my global version Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G (purchased from Spectronic) today after hearing how Optus had been unblocking this phone. Tac of 86208607 is both on the whitelist found https://xiaomitech.com.au/blogs/news/notice-on-3g-shutdown-a… here and the mirror page at spectronic itself.

Telstra checker says phone is all good to go no issue, but AMTA checker says "check" which normally means there's an issue with at least one carrier. I suspect in this case, though, AMTA checker is erroneously showing check because the phone was previously blocked on Optus but they seem to have unblocked it now, and i dont think that checker has been updated.

My take is it's safe to buy Redmis again now provided they are new. I dont expect my older ones to be unblocked but im happy to again have the option to get this phone for 600 or less rather than the 900 JB is selling it for. Thanks to Xiaomi for cracking onto Optus' arse and getting them to unblock these phones. It doesn't make a difference where you buy the phone, JB, spectronic, kogan, alie, global version is global version and will work from what i can understand.

  • Would replacing the phone modem so it has the right bands work?

Nope, they're banning IMEI numbers. So your phone could have all the right bands but still be blocked

  • Anyone have any luck with Xiaomi 11T Pro on any of the networks?

    • +1

Mine is still working on Boost, was purchased via AliExpress with Global ROM, although my wife's 11T Pro has not worked since 16 November (Boost), also purchased at the same time.

Mine didn't work with Amaysim (Optus), but I just picked up a Lebara sim (Vodafone), and it's working fine…for now.

  • Guys is it just a matter of time before all the phones not on the https://xiaomitech.com.au/blogs/news/notice-on-3g-shutdown-a… list be blocked? There are some sales now, if it's just a matter of time, i might grab something now. On a Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. With Amaysim

  • Sorry if I missed it.. Has anybody had their locally purchased phone from a big chain store blocked?

My mum's Motorola G6 has stopped working in the past month even though I'm pretty sure it supports 4g volte.

The phone was purchased from Officeworks some years ago.

Many phones that were sold locally have been blocked. lots of old phones dont work. Obviously technically there are probably millions of 3g only phones that have been sold locally and now banned. You probably meant any 4g phones sold locally but still, yes not all locally delivered 4g phones supported volte.

I'm pretty sure it supports 4g volte.

What are you basing that on? Either way it doesnt just need to support volte (and i dont think it does) it needs to support 000 calls via volte. I dont think that was a requirement until after this phone came out.
